Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

    Dagenham '17-18 Season
    February/March Update

    League Match 25
    Dagenham - Norwich City (1-0)
    Monzon 10' (P)

Recap: Nicola Leali's finest game for us yet. The Italian keeper had 7 saves, all off highly dangerous shots, ending as the MOTM with an 8.8 game rating.

    F.A. Cup, Round of 16
    Liverpool - Dagenham (2-0)
    Monzon 81' (P)
    Elito 85'

Recap: A very tense game against a Liverpool squad that's starting to become a bit of a rival. We battled for 80 minutes until our relentless attack finally forced a penalty kick which Monzon coolly delivered, then Elito put the dagger on the The Reds to eliminate them from the F.A. Cup for the second consecutive season.

    League Match 26
    Liverpool - Dagenham (1-1)
    Sturridge 60'
    Flanagan 90' (OG)

Recap: Just because we beat them a few days earlier didn't mean we had their number. After ruining our home opener in the second game of the season Liverpool nearly defeated us again until a strike from Reyna near the end bounced off a post and ricocheted off Flanagan to go into the back of the net. It was a painful result for The Reds but a fair score at the end of the game because we had attacked all game long and deserved better.

    MAR
    League Match 27
    Dagenham - Manchester Utd (1-1)
    Ljacic 15'
    Jones '27 (OG)

Recap: The odds of two consecutive 1-1 draws with us benefiting from an own goal in each have to be diminutive, but we'll take it. Again we forced the issue resulting in Man U's own goal and Ljacic's goal was a RIDICULOUS strike from about 30 yards out nicely placed in an upper corner.

    F.A. Cup, Quarter Finals
    Manchester Utd - Dagenham (2-6)
    Caseres 2'
    Reyna 6'
    Nimely 17'
    Caseres 45'

    Fletcher 45+'
    Nimely 45+'
    Zindilis 72'

    Stefanovic 79'

Recap: I don't have the words to express the awesomeness of this game. I simply just wish we would had scored half of these goals in our game against Man U a few days before. We embarrassed them, at Old Trafford, from the get-go. It was BEAUTIFUL. We now march into the semi finals surely the favorites to win it all, with Newcastle Utd, Aston Villa, and Southampton also making the final four.

    League Match 28
    Hull City - Dagenham (0-0)

Recap: Ugh, just a disappointing/frustrating result in a game where we put up plenty of shots. Maybe the short break for international friendlies did us wrong, who knows, but missed points suck.

    League Match 29
    Dagenham - Arsenal (3-3)
    Traore 10'
    Nimely 19'
    Wellington Silva 21'
    Nimely 24'
    Reyna 30'

    Traore 81'

Recap: The first 30 minutes of this game were as intense as you can get. More often than not you're not going to be able to stop Lacina Traore (6'8", 192lbs), you can only hope to contain him. We tried our best to increase our lead after finally taking over the game midway through the first half but we were unable to convert our chances and Traore eventually evened up the game near the end to take 2 points away from us in disappointing fashion.

    British Premier League Standings
    1. Chelsea - 65pts
    2. Dagenham - 61pts
    3. Manchester City - 59pts
    4. Liverpool - 58pts
    5. Arsenal - 57pts

    ...
    6. Tottenham - 52pts
    7. Manchester Utd - 51pts
    ...

    18. Hull City - 25pts
    19. Nott'm Forest - 21pts
    20. Wigan Athletic 10pts

Not a lot of games these past couple of months and for the most part some really good results, just not good enough for us to stay in 1st place - we actually held that spot before the draws against Hull and Arsenal sent us back to 2nd. Of course, the first game in April will be a matchup against Chelsea that will likely be key in deciding the league winner. As you may have noticed we're also having an outstanding run in the F.A. Cup where we're set to face off against Aston Villa in the semi finals. We'll actually face Aston Villa at least twice in April as we're also scheduled to face them 3 days before the F.A. semis and just 4 days after visiting Chelsea. We'll also play against Newcastle and Tottenham this month.

We're really looking forward to the end of April because there are some guys in the academy that may get the call up for the final 4-5 games of the season (and maybe even the F.A. Cup final?). That being said there's been some movement in the academy with scouts sent to France, Uruguay, and South Africa so let's look at the youth squad:
    • Dean Murphy (MID, 59-65 OVR, 81-91 POT): 17-year old from Ireland who is likely to be an LM but may get a tryout at CAM.
    • Sean Foran (LM, 60-64, 83-89): 15-year old from Ireland finally settled in at a position. The left-footed kid could be Reyna's future replacement.
    • Nathan Kenny (RM, 59-63, 83-89): 16-year old from Ireland who has our scouts very excited. Now settled in at RM he could be our future replacement for Elito.
    • Davor Alanovic (LB, 52-56, 81-87): 16-year old from Croatia has outstanding potential and mammoth stature at 6'7" and 176lbs. He'll be played at CB and we'll work really hard to develop him into an excellent defender.
    • Mario Diaz (LW, 56-60, 76-82): 17-year old from Mexico with a lot of confidence. Our scouts are trying to convince him that he's better off staying in the academy for a year even though he feels he's a better talent at the moment than some of the names on the roster. We don't disagree, but he would have a tough time cracking the B-team right now. We're excited about him though.
    • Faruk Bahamdan (CAM, 46-48, 74-80): 16-year old from Morocco who settled into his position early on. He's raw, so he'll need a lot of time in the academy to develop.
    • Pablo Escobar (CAM, 46-48, 74-80): 16-year old from Venezuela who needs to remain in the academy for at least a full season. He has recently shown some higher flashes of potential than when previously evaluated.
    • Ciaran Kavanagh (CM, 46-52, 71-79): 16-year old from Ireland who found his niche in the midfield. Projects as more of a sub.
    • Magnus Gerndt (RW, 51-55, 72-78): 16-year old from Sweeden who projects as no more than a role player.
    • Cesar Miguel (CDM, 44-46, 72-78): 16-year old from Venezuela who needs a good amount of development. There have been some rumblings about his desire to be called up but we anticipate the club would let him walk instead.
    • Matthieu Maupay (MID/ATT, 37-49, 63-83)*: 15-year old from France is the most recent addition to the squad and would do himself a huge favor if he developed into a striker.
    • Carlos Alberto (CAM, 50-54, 69-73): 17-year old from Colombia who hurt his chances to be more of an impact player when he failed to stick as a striker. He doesn't project to be a starter for us.

    * Denotes recent addition to the academy.

Enric Tilea (CM, 56 OVR, 71-75 POT), 17-year old from Romania, got the call up to the big team after requesting so. He put in his time in the academy but isn't more than a reserve at the moment.

Our current roster (* Denotes player graduated from the youth academy):

    Spoiler

As you may have noticed there was also some international action

    International Friendlies

    Norway - Venezuela (3-1)
    Aristeguieta 5'
    Aristeguieta 33'
    Rondon 36'

    Bendiksen 90+'

Recap: Thorough beat down of the European hosts with nice results from our starters upfront. I'm not sure whether Norway has qualified for the WC but they were a nice test.

    Finland - Venezuela (2-1)
    J. Vallejo 45'
    Ring 82'
    A. Vallejo 90'

Recap: We played a mix of our A and B team on this one and squeezed out a victory in the end but we definitely outplayed the hosts and performed well overall.

    MAR
    India - Venezuela (1-3)

    J. Vallejo 11'
    Perdomo 28'
    J. Vallejo 54'

    Pradhan 57'

Recap: India simply does not have a very good team and as such I played the B team against them and came out pleased, especially because the strikers continue to score.

    Wales - Venezuela (1-1)
    Rondon 6'
    Robson-Kano 19'

Recap: Good tune up match for us before the World Cup as I'm not sure we'll get more games before then. Feeling as good as I can with this roster.

So all in all we went on the road to Asia and Europe and performed well. I'm really looking forward to this World Cup and want to, at worst, make it past the group stage. A final four finish would be outstanding.

    And that's it for now

Sanjuuuuuuuuu! The boy was roommates with my cousin when he played for Dempo! Doesn't smoke, doesn't drink, but he can eat three whole chickens and come back for dessert. Not an exaggeration.

        TOON TO THE TOP
        SEASON 2
        PS4

        Match 7

        Newcastle 1-2 Arsenal
        Cazorla 27
        Welbeck 43
        Dszudszak 83

Cazorla opened the scoring for the Gunners, a low ball across the box finding Cazorla at the edge to smash into the top corner with a first time left footed effort, a deserved goal after their onslaught for the first 25 minutes. We came close to hitting back, Bony hitting the bar with a thunderous effort before Welbeck managed to head in at the far post to extend the lead. We came out firing in the second half but Szczesny had the game of his career, making 7 saves, all of them excellent before Dzsudzsak finally beat him. We came very close to equalising in the final minutes of the game, Medels low shot from the edge of the box skimming the post.

        Match 8

        Spurs 0-0 Newcastle
In stark contrast to the game against their North London rivals, this was an incredibly dull and drab game. Spurs got a chance which Adebayor wasted and Dzsudzsak put one wide. Other than that, not much to comment on.

        Champions League Match 3

        Juventus 1-0 Newcastle
        Pogba 75
This was the match we were looking forward to when the draw was made. A big European away night against one of the most successful teams in Europe, and the best in Italy. Darkness falling over the newly renovated Juventus stadium in Turin, we we went out to take the game to them. We did well, attacking their defence but with Buffon on top form and Bonucci and Chiellini controlling the defence with the ever brilliant and fast Evra and Isla in full back, it as difficult to break down. Buffon was forced into an excellent save to deny a header by Bony, tipping it over the bar with his finger tips. In the second half, Juventus controlled the play and our only attacks were counters that the full backs or Buffon would comfortably stop. Pogba and Marchiso in midfield were controlling the play and Tevez was impossible to tackle and before long, a cross into the box found Pogba to head in the opener. We couldn't equalise, the defence gaining the ball and the midfield toying with us. An unfortunate loss, but one that we can take with our heads held high and confidence for the home leg.

        Match 9

        Newcastle 1-0 Hull
        Dzsudzsak 57
Dzsudzsak got the only goal of the game in this one, Bony's header parried out for Dzsudzsak to take a touch before curling into the top corner. Kampl came close, smashing the ball into the post and Delph forced a top drawer save from Adler along with a few other shots, namely an incredible curling effort from Ronaldinho that was just tipped over the bar.

        League Cup Round of 16

        Crawley 1-2 Newcastle
        Barkley 17
        McLeod 40
        Riviere 57

        Simmed.

        Match 10

        Wigan 0-1 Newcastle
        Oliveira 47
We played this game with our reserve side and Oliveira got the only goal of a tight game, and an excellent one it was. Picking the ball up on the edge of the box he struck it sweetly into the bottom corner out of reach of the keeper. Wigan had plenty of chances, all headers that they kept putting over by a few inches.

        League Table

        1. Newcastle 25
        2. Chelsea 22
        3. Spurs 18
        4. Aston Villa 18
        5. Arsenal 17
        6. Swansea 16
        -----
        18. Stoke 7
        19. Norwich 6
        20. West Ham 6

It truly is time-consuming, and I also prefer to write out my updates. Next post will be a bit lengthy, but it will also include:

          • Review of signed players
          • Formation/tactics discussion
          • Storylines for Gakpe, Djilobodji, Veretout, Cataldi, Knockaert
          • Press conference discussing Marseille, Zulte-Waregem
          • Youth academy update

All my updates (matches/player stories/club developments) will no longer be from the third-person perspective of a newspaper/football website, but from myself as manager of the club in the first person. I was thinking about Moose's last video of the season, and how gripping it was to hear him talk about the Everton game as manager of West Ham, so I'm going to be following that same method. Reading match reports and player stories is boring without the boss' view on things, which is something we are all privy to as fellow managers (except Cruzerr, who's just a wee player).
I'm glad I was able to inspire you a bit! Talking from the manager's point of view is just a ton of fun, because you really have so many more topics of interest, like transfer moves, tactics, player stories... really you're right in the heartbeat of the team! Great update, I've been following along with your career among others but sometimes it's hard to keep up and post along with each update! You've really been busy in terms of transfer moves, it's amazing how you find so many players to fit into the squad.. do you use the GTN or apply some outside help with Sofifa?

Also, very interesting to read what you were saying about your cricket career... I had a very similar experience over here in the states playing ice hockey. Always fun to still get back on the field/ice and play but looking back what it could have been! I love also hearing about all of you guys saying about England/Germany/various countries, etc. because I've only been to the USA and Canada so I get to see a bit of a different perspective!

Tex, that article was beautiful! I love seeing a lot of visuals with the updates and your St. Pauli one did a great job of providing info and looking great. Also, St. Pauli is a really cool club, so definitely will be a fun one to follow along to.

I was pretty dedicated in terms of nutrition and fitness by UK standards, which meant physically, I was miles ahead of pretty much everyone in the U19s except Virat and another guy named Iqbal Abdullah. I think I messed up too many times with the selectors watching, but it would have been nice to have at least had a chance. I don't regret it, though. I play every week and do batting workshops at the local academy near my place, which the kids really get into once I tell them who I played with!

These days, you can qualify through schooling, but back then it was either citizenship, residence or ancestry. I think I might have qualified through residence, but I couldn't get the development I needed at the youth level there to make it count. That's a big part of why my dad moved us back to Chennai. He was made up when I got called up to the U19s, and nobody was more hurt when I got the call saying not to wait for a senior cap. I qualified through my mum to play for NZ, and they were ready to give me a trial, but if it couldn't be India or England for me, I didn't want any part of it. Might have been bitter about it, because I also shot down a chance to trial with Hampshire CC. Who knows what might have happened then? Still, no regrets. Life's been good to me in other ways.

Never been to Coventry, but I hear it's a great place with loads of culture all around. I've seen photos, but I doubt they do justice to the city.
It's unfortunate that you aren't playing for India or Hampshire but at least you are happy and your life has gone well as it is, (other than that *** **** achilles!) I'd be the same, I'd technically be eligible for England, Scotland and Wales, but it would be England or nothing for me.

The pictures probably do it good, pardon my language but it's a ****hole. But it's my ****hole It does have plenty of culture, Lady Godiva for one and of course was hit the hardest by the bombs in WW2. Our claim to fame is being destroyed and having a naked lady on a horse

I'll admit, the idea was partially inspired by your updates. I love how yours are unique in the sense that it is a style nobody else does with the videos. I wanted to try to bring something different as well.

I'll shamefully admit I am behind on your updates right now, but once work clears up after this week is over I plan on running through them as fast as I can!

Right, first things first. I would like to thank you people for wishing me an happy birthday! My birthday was on the 30th of October, so thank you for all the kind wishes! I stayed home with my parents and a few friends. All because I was injured.

My father told me once that injuries define a man. You can come back from it stronger than ever, or you can throw in the towel. Calling quits is easier obviously - I actually hate being injured. Not because it is painful, a lot of things in life are painful.

It is because of the fact that something valuable was taken from me. It was difficult to sit behind the telly and watch my team play, without me actually being there. The coaches were rough on me - I went in every day to train with the physio personally. When I took a break, I watched the other lads play football outside. Safe to say that I missed it.

A few of you people might just be fans of me and not Morecambe, yet here is a list of the games I missed and how did they go.

                  @ Cambridge United F.C. 2-1 [W]
                  vs Hartlepool United F.C. 3-1 [L]
                  @ Luton Town 1-1 [D]
                  vs Exeter City 2-1 [W]
vs Middlesbrough 1-0 (Capital One Cup Round of 16) [W]
                  vs Stevenage 0-0 [D]
                  @ Carlisle United 1-1 [D]
                  vs Accrington Stanley 2-1 [W]
                  @ Bury 1-1 [D]
                  vs Cheltenham Town 2-1 [L]
@ Derby County (Capital One Cup Quarter Final) 1-0 [W]
vs Mansfield Town (FA Cup Game) 1-0 [W]

So, before the Newport game, I got a call from the coach, informing me with the good news. Apperantly, I was almost ready to return. I actually shed a tear. Even though the team had actually done well while I was gone, I wanted to return to the pitch more than ever. I had to still sit out the games against Newport and Oxford, both games that we lost 1-0, yet after those games (two weeks after the call), I was ready to return. And the team I was making my return against was none other than....

I don't think my teammates wanted to even touch the ball.

Yes, Wycombe Wanderers. I was more ready than ever. I put my new boots on since, you know, I kinda accidentaly smashed my old ones when I was mad.

Being back on the pitch was amazing, the fans were chanting my name. I had this strange feeling inside - like I was playing my first game for Morecambe again. Nevertheless, I had to deliver to show that I hadn't lost my touch after the injury.

It was difficult. I was really hesitant and wasn't trying to beat defenders like I used to. I was giving good passes, yet the other guys did not finish it. I was getting frustrated, yet the one person more frustrated than me was the coach. Bentley told at half-time to play more agressive, otherwise I would not score and we would not win.

I tried, I really did. I got 1-on-1 with the keeper and messed it up. It even happened in the 90th minute. I was through on goal and missed - a shot that I pre-injury should have scored. The game ended 0-0, Wanderers weren't really in it yet we messed it up. I did not feel good, not infront of the fans nor anybody.

Me with some good hold-up play....

I kept working hard in practise, after the game, I realised that I had to bounce back stronger than ever. Just before January aswell, I mean - I don't think the team would sell me even if I struggled a bit, but still.

Our next game was against Portsmouth. Before the game, an article showed up in the news, saying that I am a game changer:

"He's playing out of his skin. I knew he could perform at a high level but he's done exactly what I have asked him to do which I must applaud him for," said a very happy Bentley. The plaudits for Cruzerr didn't stop there as some of his teammates also voiced their opinions on him.

I did not feel like one, yet I love the support from Bentley and the team, I must admit.

Right, so the game itself was difficult. My first chance came from a good past from Drummond - I got open in the box and completely hit it wide. Wow, what a confidence boost.

A little later into the game, Redshaw managed to take a shot which hit the defender. The ball bounced infront of me and I headered it - right into the top corner! 1-0! We were up and I scored! True, it wasn't in my usual style, but to get my confidence back, I will take any goal.

The game ended with that goal being the winner. I felt a bit happier, yet a lucky goal isn't enough to prove the critics wrong.

and then with the goal! (Couldn't really play in the Dagenham one, so take a picture from the last one!)

So the last game of the month was actually against Dagenham, which I thought we could really win. However, I didn't know that Bentley only played me for 20 minutes. I didn't do much, probably touched the ball a few times, yet we didn't create any chances.

Bentley took me off, saying that he wants me to go home, rest and come back next month, stronger than before. Hopefully I can pull that off. The game itself ended in a 0-0 draw.

Anyway, I'd like to thank you all for the support while I was injured. Don't know what I would do without you guys. Take care!

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

There has been a lot happening today so I'll try to give some feedback to everyone. I'm sorry if I forget someone.

Tex, the picture thingy you did was amazing. I tried to do something similar and I quit after two pictures. I don't think that style would suit normal monthly updates but I think you should use it for transfers and other stuff like that.

Indi, sad to hear about your cricket career but man, you have experienced a lot! Playing sports, living in three countries and now speculating a move to Europe. I don't know much about living in England and the Netherlands but I know that Germany is a very good country to live in. Also, get well soon!

Keano, interesting transfers. I'm surprised that you didn't sign a defensive midfielder and I didn't expect you to buy Redmond. Terrible luck with the Ings injury.

Rabbit, great results. Especially the win again ManU looks amazing. Hopefully you manage to overtake Chelsea and win the title.

Jamie, good work but it seems like you've been struggling to find the net. It happens to me sometimes and it sucks. Nicely done to be in first.

I think that was pretty much everyone. I'm very sorry if I forgot someone.

Discussion time! I thought about this earlier today and I think it's an interesting question. How did you find this thread and why did you join it? My story is pretty simple: I was looking for teams to use in career mode and this thread appeared in Google search. It sounded interesting so I decided to check it out and I liked it so I signed up. Once again this was very interesting to read. I say this every time but I enjoy your updates a lot. Hopefully you don't get bored and manage to get to a big team. I don't like how I still haven't guessed correctly. This time my guess will be that Thomas will not score in the cup.

I've had plenty of chances, it's just the keepers have been incredible. I forgot to include the player of the month so I shall do it at the start of the next update

I can't even remember. I was reading the thread back in the FIFA 13 one and stayed on the site before finally making an account and posting updates

Thanks Simp. I used to play NCAA Football A LOT, especially Online Dynasties, which is how I found the forums to begin with. FIFA has always been one of my favorite games so since I was already here I just looked for these forums and found this awesome thread

Hey! I just signed up and I thought that answering your question seemed like a good place to start
I have for some time checked out this thread and the new one for FIFA 15 when looking for new career mode teams and tips on how to enjoy a career mode longer since I usually switch after one or two seasons due to it getting boring and I have become really impressed with the level of passion and dedication you guys have for the game and in the posts so yeah that was what made me join, And of course the fact that everyone treats each other with respect which unfortunately isn't the case in all forums regarding FIFA.
I found it through google aswell while googling about career mode in general

(Sorry if I have made some grammatical errors and such but english is not my main language)
