Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
Dagenham update season 3. In Championship league play we are currently in third place behind by three points. We hack played seven matches, and in the month of October. In World Cup qualifier matches we beat Hungary 4-0 beating a team that had beat earlier in cup play twice. Garett Bale has been putting on a clinic in the qualifiers, I put him in the center of Wales formation and he has been a terror for the opposition. Either by scoring or as a setup man for teammates. Updates for this CM may get a little slower sorry for delay, but here is why.
I am working on a fifa project. Taking 1860 Munich and trying to turn them into an equal power as Bayern Munich. Will still do Dagenham, but sharing time with 1860. More updates coming later. Major blizzard coming to east coast in US will allow for extra fifa time.Currently playing: (In order of Most Time)

Champions League Group Stages
FC St. Pauli 0 - Inter 0
MOTM: Werner
This game was all about the defense getting it done on both sides. Each keeper turned in solid performances with Rakovsky recording 8 saves and Handanovic recording 7. Even with all the focus on defense, Timo Werner earned player of the match honors after putting in 90 minutes of work all over the pitch. His danger in the attack gave Inter fits, and his work tracking back proved effective all game long.
FC St. Pauli 4 - Bayer Leverkusen 0
STP - Michal Mak 21' (Pen), Bacuna 28', Werner 67', Ben Khalifa 79'
MOTM: Werner
After Werner was taken down in the box, Michal Mak converted the penalty into the top left corner to put St. Pauli ahead. After Leverkusen couldn't clear a corner, the ball ended up with Bacuna on the left side of the goal and he struck it expertly inside the near post. Buchtmann started pushing up the pitch and threaded a ball way ahead between the defense for Werner to run onto and strike it first time off the right post and in. Ben Khalifa was awarded a penalty in the box and Michal Mak stepped aside to let the new man score on his debut with a good strike to the right side of the goal.
FC Bayern 0 - FC St. Pauli 1
STP - Jantscher 82'
MOTM: Starke
In a surprise match, St. Pauli actually appeared the be the better team all match. Recording more shots, shots on target, and more possession, the visitors took it to the favored home team. The match was decided when Werner found Khedira at the top of the box who took a touch right and found Jantscher to the right side of the goal for a strong left footed shot that curled away from the keeper and settled in the bottom right corner. Starke earned man of the match honors in his first game against his old club, recording 9 saves on his way to a clean sheet.
Borussia M'Gladbach 2 - FC St. Pauli 0
BMG - Xhaka 35', Modeste 74'
MOTM: Colombi
Xkaha played a great give and go in the box and got the ball back to the right side of the goal unmarked and slotted it past the keeper inside the left post. Hahn's shot was stopped by Starke but he was unable to push it out of the box and it fell right to Modeste who was able to stick his foot out and knock it into the back of the net. St. Pauli on the other hand was unable to beat Colombi on the other end as he turned in an impressive 7 saves to secure the 3 points for M'Gladbach.
Champions League Group Stages
FC St. Pauli 1 - Read Madrid 2
STP - Werner 90'
RM - Bale 65', Ramos 90'
MOTM: Pacheco
Ronaldo worked his way through the defense to the left side of the goal and sent a low cross into the box that found Bale, who Gießelmann had completely lost, for the tap in and the lead. With time running out Çiftçi attacked the defense up the middle and found Werner running down the left side of the goal who was able to place it past the keeper to the far post for the equalizer. With St. Pauli still on a high after their equalizer, Isco sent a ball over the top of the defense that found a streaking Ramos who headed it just as the keeper was coming out and the ball looped over the top and into the goal for a late winner.
FC St. Pauli 3 - Borussia Dortmund 2
STP - Werner 4', Çiftçi 51', 64'
BVB - Reus 41', 81'
MOTM: Çiftçi
Çiftçi attacked the middle of the defense drawing everyone towards him before playing it to the left side of the goal for Werner to run onto and place inside the far post. Starke punched a cross out of the air, but was unable to clear it out of the box and Bender slid the ball over to Reus for a quick strike for the equalizer. Van Nieff dribbled across the top of the box and found Çiftçi on the right who took a touch inside and used his left foot to hit it off the post and in. Buballa got the ball on the left wing and sent an early cross into the box that found Çiftçi who headed it back into the top left corner. Dortmund pulled one back after Aubameyang was able to head a ball down into the box for Reus to collect and and fire to the far post.

St. Pauli Player of the Month
Tom Starke
Tom Starke showed what an experienced keeper in goal can do for a team with his solid and composed performances this month. He recorded 3 clean sheets out of the 5 league matches he appeared in, and helped St. Pauli ensure wins in all but one of the matches overall. His presence seems to be exactly what St. Pauli was missing all last season.
Press Conference
Q: You had a very successful month in league play, losing only to M'Gladbach, but beating Bayern Munich and Dortmund both. How happy are you with the results, and what has been the biggest factor for your current form?
A: This was a great month, and our spot in the table speaks for that. We are a point out of first, and we were able to take 3 points against 2 of the best clubs in Germany. Our defense has been coming up huge for us this month, and Tom Starke in goal has been a difference maker.
Q: Your first experiences in the Champions League have been as tough as advertised. Are you happy with your performances against Inter and Real Madrid? What do you need to do in order to advance past the group stages?
A: We were solid in the back against Inter, but our attack couldn't get going. Against Real we should have had a draw, but we allowed Ramos to get forward and win a header to decide it in the final minute. We are 3 points out of 2nd right now, and we still have both matches against St. Etienne, and the away leg against each of the other two. The two matches against St. Etienne will be huge. If we can't take points in those, then we aren't likely to advance.
Q: Congratulations are in order, you have officially qualified Czech Republic for the 2018 World Cup in Russia. This has been a huge task for you having to juggle both international and club duties, but it seems to have paid off. How big of an accomplishment is this for the Czech Republic?
A: Thank you, this is massive for the country. This is a country that while small, is absolutely crazy about their football. I am proud to say that we have represented them well, and will get a chance to compete to be the best in the world come the summer. The players earned this, and I hope that each of the players who come with me to Russia will savor the moment.

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
The Rumor Mill
West Ham United are poised to break the bank to make some big name splashes in the January transfer window.
With the departures of out of favor Carlton Cole and Morgan Amalfitano seemingly imminent, the Hammers are rumored to be interested in bolstering their midfield options. After already cementing a deal with attacking midfielder Clement Grenier on a free transfer, the Irons have been linked to France yet again for a big money free transfer, this time potentially acquiring the signature of PSG stalwart Javier Pastore. The Hammers hope to tempt the playmaker with the promise of first team football and still a presence in the Champions League, as he has fallen behind players like Marco Verratti and Blaise Matuidi in the center of the park for the French champions.
Adnan Januzaj is another player discussed to be on the verge of a permanent move to the English capital, with Matt Jarvis possibly heading to Manchester in a move designed to give Januzaj the first team football that he has been unable to acquire in Louis van Gaal's United set up.
Other possible moves include bringing Alex Song, who starred at West Ham last season, back to the Boleyn or a move for Bordeaux midfield engine Gregory Sertic.
Do the Hammers need these improvements in the midfield, or should they be looking elsewhere? Be sure to sound off in the comments as to what the Hammers should do should they move on some players from the current wage budget.
Damn, that's some big news. Looks like Sullivan and Gold have given you a lot of cash to play with. For the middle of the park, if you can fit both Grenier and Pastore into your team, I wholeheartedly suggest it. Out wide, I'm not a big fan of Januzaj, but he may work for you. I'd go for someone like Nathan Redmond, or if you want a budget option, Serge Gakpe is good for his fee. Deeper in midfield, I suggest Gueida Fofana if you want a real engine, or if you need a deep-lying playmaker/defensive anchor, you can't go wrong with Lee Cattermole (criminally underrated) or Lassanna Diarra.Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
@Tex That's the weirdest German league table I've ever seen, but I'm glad for you! Starke has been such a beast for you that I'm wondering if my decision to stick with Smithies and Westwood in goal is a bit risky. Not a lot of luck in Europe, but that's a tough group. You still have the time to break into the top two, which I feel confident that you'll manage.
@Jamie Since you have Chico's blessing, I guess I speak for everyone (except Simppu, you never know what he's thinking) when I say good luck!Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
The Wednesday: Summer 2016
Transfers & Preseason
"Mr. Blue, thank you for coming to see me. Please have a seat."
"Thanks, sir. How are you doing?"
"Very well, thank you. I'm sure you have a lot of work to do, so I'll keep this brief. As you know, I'm not going to touch your sporting setup. Under me, you'll have the same freedom that Milan Mandaric gave you. Coaching, analysis, scouting, recruitment... I don't want to have a say in any of these departments unless it's absolutely necessary."
"I appreciate that, Mr. Chansiri."
"At the same time, I do need certain promises from you."
"Such as?"
"For one thing, with the amount of money I'm going to put on the table, staying in the Premier League isn't enough. I want you to commit to finishing in the top half of the table once again, and I want a good run in either the Capital One or FA Cup."
"I think we can manage that, sir."
"Excellent. As for the commercial aspect of things, you've already stated that you will distance yourself from that, correct?"
"Yes, unless my opinion is needed. I don't want to have a say in things."
"I think this arrangement will suit us both. Now then, let's talk cash."
"What do you have in mind?"
"I'm going to authorise an expenditure of up to £20 million. Depending on the wages you and the recruitment team decide to pay players, you might have more or less to spend on acquiring talent. You can speak to the director of football for more details."
"I... that's... wow."
"The words you're looking for are 'a lot of money', I presume."
"That's about it."
"Well, I trust you not to make a mess of it. Don't pull a Malky Mackay on me!"
"Oh, I wouldn't dream of it, sir. Thank you. You aren't going to regret this!"
"Make sure I don't."
Budget & Objectives
Transfers: £20,500,000
Wages: £80,000
League: Finish mid-table
Cup: Reach the quarter-final
GK Ben Amos from Manchester United
Age 26 + 65 OVR
Ben comes back to us on loan after playing just two games last season, and it is very likely that he will continue to fulfill the role of reserve goalkeeper. The big Englishman is good in a pinch, so I have no worries if injuries force me to play him now and then.
CB Rhys Williams from Middlesbrough
Age 28 + 76 OVR
At £4.6 million, Rhys is now the club's record signing. The Australian centre back has impressed for Middlesbrough during his time in the Championship, but it became very evident over the summer that he deserved to be playing a higher level. This move will give him the opportunity to be part of a promising project in South Yorkshire, where he will slot directly into the starting XI alongside Josh Meekings, the new club captain.
CB Connor Goldson from Shrewsbury Town
Age 23 + 68 OVR
Goldy is one of the two players we signed in January on a free. Pace, defensive ability and strength are his trademarks, and while he isn't quite ready to feature regularly in the first team, we look at Connor as a future regular once he gets some development and experience under his belt.
LB Jordan Obita from Reading
Age 22 + 72 OVR
Obi's contract with Reading was due to expire in 2017, which meant that we were able to negotiate a very good deal for him. For just £1.5 million plus Joe Mattock, we got a player who ticks all the boxes for our left back position: athleticism, pace, control, crossing, defensive ability and youth. He's also English, a big plus in our philosophy.
LB Declan John from Cardiff City
Age 21 + 67 OVR
Dec spent the season on loan during my first year with Wednesday, and now as I enter my third, we've signed him for £2 million plus Rafael Floro. The young Welsh lad will prove crucial because of his ability to play anywhere on either flank, and he can come off the bench to replace a full back or supplement the attacking trident in our 4-2-3-1.
CM Adrien Rabiot from PSG
Age 21 + 74 OVR
Adrien knew he wouldn't be getting much game time in Paris this season, so it worked well for him and us that PSG were willing to loan him to us until next year. He brings creativity and energy to the midfield, and will most likely feature as an impact player who does his best work off the bench.
CM Ryan Leonard from Southend United
Age 24 + 66 OVR
Energy, speed, stamina and a fierce shot set Ryan out from the rest of League Two's midfielders. That caught our attention, so we promptly moved for him with an offer of £1m plus Giles Coke, and Southend bit our hand off accepting it. Thanks to the diversity of his skill set, Ryan can play in holding midfield or across the attacking trident, making him a useful man to have in the squad.
LM Jamie Paterson from Nottingham Forest
Age 24 + 71 OVR
We finally managed to bag our man after chasing him for so long, shelling out just shy of £3 million plus Chris Maguire to bring him to Hillsborough. I'm certain that Jimbo will be a huge player for this club, and I fully expect him to win a place in the starting XI by the time next summer comes around. He's already impressed me in preseason, showcasing his close control at speed with a fine display against a European biggie.
RM Thomas Ince from Hull City
Age 24 + 75 OVR
Incey's career has taken a bit of a hit since moving away from Blackpool, but now that he has employed a new advisor who helped us bring him to the club as a free transfer, I predict stellar things for this young man. He is a complete attacking player who will flourish with similar lads around him and has the pedigree to be a future England star.
RM Mitchell Weiser from Bayern Munich
Age 22 + 69 OVR
One of Bayern Munich and Germany's prized starlets, Mitch's career hasn't taken off as it should have. That is mostly down the competition ahead of him at his parent club, where Arjen Robben and Xherdan Shaqiri block his path to the first team. We signed Mitch on a loan deal until next summer, promising him regular cup games and the chance to fight for a first-team spot.
ST Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur
Age 23 + 72 OVR
After registering 11 goals in the Premier League last season, Harry found his way into Tottenham's first team this year blocked by new signing Daniel Sturridge. We brought him in on a loan deal with a view to challenging Stevie May, and we hope this brings out the best in both players.
ST Dominic Solanke from Chelsea
Age 18 + 65 OVR
Dom was never going to realistically break into Chelsea's starting lineup or bench with the likes of Diego Costa, Fernando Torres, Edinson Cavani and Loic Remy all ahead of him in the contest for two spots. We signed him on loan as a third striking option, but Dom also gives us flexibility with his ability to play as an attacking midfielder.
CB Tom Lees to Hull City
Age 25 + 68 OVR
Our former captain had unfortunately come to the end of the road with Wednesday, and while it was less than ideal, a parting of the ways proved necessary for both him and us to continue our respective developments. Tommo finds a good club in Hull, and we only asked for a fee of £1 million out of goodwill.
CB Claude Dielna to Bolton Wanderers
Age 28 + 66 OVR
Claude always had talent, but this was a move necessitated by his lack of playing time despite possessing skill and quality. He finds a good club in Bolton, who paid a mere £500,000 for his services. Claude can now focus on helping his new side achieve the goal of being promoted after years in the Championship.
LB Joe Mattock to Reading
Age 26 + 71 OVR
Joey was not a player we initially planned on parting ways with this summer, but when he asked for a move to be closer to his girlfriend and child in London, we were willing to oblige. Despite a number of high-profile suitors such as Sunderland and Torino expressing their interest, he was keen on living in or around the capital. Reading, where he will enjoy first-team action on a healthy salary, proved the most attractive destination despite being one division down. The move benefits us, as we were able to sign Jordan Obita for a much lower price than normal.
LB Rafael Floro to Cardiff City
Age 19 + 64 OVR
It may be a move that backfires on us as Raf shows tremendous talent, but I needed a slightly more attacking full back at this point. Newly-promoted Cardiff had the player I wanted in Declan John, and Raf was thrown in to sweeten the deal without losing too much.
CM Giles Coke to Southend United
Age 30 + 64 OVR
Giles was a crucial member of the team that won promotion to the Premier League, and he played a similar role in keeping us up last season. However, his impact at the top of the English game was noticeably lower than in the Championship. Seeking new challenges on the other side of 30, he agreed to move to Southend United so that we could sign Ryan Leonard.
RM Jacques Maghoma to Leicester City
Age 28 + 69 OVR
Jacko put in a transfer request at the end of the season, citing the need to leave due to falling out of love with life in Sheffield. We granted him a move to Leicester City, who paid a cut-price fee of £1 million for the Congolese winger's services.
RM Chris Maguire to Nottingham Forest
Age 27 + 68 OVR
It's no secret that we had been trying to move Chris on since last summer, and we got him a new club at last when Nottingham Forest came in for the Scottish winger. But rather than agree to the deal outright, we negotiated Chris as part of a package to sign Jamie Paterson. It turned out to be a win-win situation for all those involved.
RM Jack Stobbs to Brighton & Hove Albion
Age 19 + 67 OVR
Stobbo wasn't going to play very much this season, but he needed regular game time to be sure of continuing his development. Surprisingly, I received a call from the one and only Tony Bloom, chairman at Brighton. He was asking if we could contribute a player on loan because the repeated failure to secure promotion is starting to take a toll on the club's finances. To show that I have no hard feelings and because I don't want to see Brighton once again struggle against relegation until the last day, I agreed to sent Stobbo over for the season provided he gets regular game time.
July 26, Hillsborough Stadium
Friendly A
SHW 5-0 SMC
Playing in a 4-2-3-1 with a trident of attacking midfielders, we needed to kick the bad form that we ended the season with. Gary Mackay-Steven was at the centre of all our play, making 11 dribbles and completing 24/27 passes as he assisted three goals and provided the key pass that set up a fourth. On the score sheet were Gael Bigirimana, Fabian Delph, Caolan Lavery, and Stevie May (2). My choice to give Stevie one last shot at staying with us might just work out in everybody's favour.
July 30, Stadio Olimpico
Friendly B
ROM 1-2 SHW
I wasn't too keen on travelling to Rome so soon before we were due to host Eibar, but it was a must. The board asked me to play this fixture for a number of reasons. Not only did it provide us with a good bit of extra revenue, but it was also a step in their plan to push Wednesday's commercial viability and standing. I think it turned out even better than they expected, because we pulled off a big win against a Roma side full of first-choice starters. One the score sheet for us were Gary Mackay-Steven and Rhys Williams, while Gervinho pulled one back for Roma after coming on as a substitute.
August 4, Hillsborough Stadium
Friendly C
SHW 4-4 EIB
This might just be the most entertaining game I've ever been involved in. We found ourselves 2-0 down inside 15 minutes, but we managed to get back level before the halftime whistle. Eibar scored another two on 56 and 67 minutes, but Raul Albentosa gave us two late penalties, and we took the chance to restore parity with both hands. On the score sheet for us were Tom Ince, Caolan Lavery, Sam Hutchinson and Gary Mackay-Steven. Scoring for the visitors were Albentosa and Saul Berjon (3).

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
Hellas Verona
January 2017
Transfers Out
Geronimo Rulli, €44,000,000 to Bayern München
Lazaros Christodoulopoulos, €4,000,000 to Sampdoria
Transfers In
Nabil Bentaleb
75 Ovr, Central Midfielder, 22 Years Old, Algeria
Season Loan with €5,000,000 Buy Option
After selling the out of favour midfielder Lazaros Christodoulopoulos Hellas Verona needed a replacement for him who can rotate with the starters. The Italian side ended up signing a target who they had been after for two seasons and Nabil Bentaleb is that man. The young midfielder is a talented passer and he has lots of potential. He was signed on a loan deal but he can be bought after the season for five million euros.
Simone Zaza
79 Ovr, Striker, 25 Years Old, Italy
Swap Deal with Paulo Dybala
In this surprising deal Hellas Verona sent their biggest young talent to Sassuolo and they got Simone Zaza in return. Dybala, who was the Capocannoniere last season, has found the net only three times this season and he is on a 19 games long goal drough. Hellas Verona were also after Mario Balotelli, Ciro Immobile and Mauro Icardi but at the end they decided to sign the Italian Zaza who is a complete striker. He's fast, skillful and very strong in the air. He could be a good signing and replacement for Dybala who has been a flop this season.
Mattia Perin
77 Ovr, Goalkeeper, 24 Years Old, Italy
€10,000,000
Hellas Verona had only one target in mind when they sold the goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli for almost fifty million and they signed that target. Mattia Perin, who has been on their radar since last season, arrived from Genoa for ten million euros. The Italian keeper is expected to be the heir to Gianluigi Buffon's throne and the price can be a bargain in a season or two.
Marquinhos
78 Ovr, Centre Back, 22 Years Old, Brazil
€12,000,000
The second most expensive signing made by Hellas Verona in January was the young supertalent Marquinhos. The 22-year-old arrived for a fee of €12 million, three times less than what PSG payed for him a few years ago, and he will probably get a starting spot next to Kaan Ayhan. Marquinhos, who makes his return to Italy, is one of the most talented young centre halves in football and he can be the next big Brazilian defender.
Radja Nainggolan
84 Ovr, Central Midfielder, 28 Years Old, Belgium
€19,000,000
The most expensive signing of Hellas Verona in the winter transfer window was Radja Nainggolan who arrived for a cheap price of under twenty million from AS Roma (note: his value is 21 million). Nainggolan is one of the best box-to-box midfielders of the league and he is good at pretty much everything. The Belgian will be a world class replacement for Pedro Obiang who has not been solid as a holding midfielder this season.
Hellas Verona 1 - 1 Udinese
Coman 83'
Cesnauskis 24'
"We weren't good in this game. Our passing was terrible and our shooting wasn't clinical enough. Luckily we managed to equalise the game in the last ten minutes. We need to improve a lot."
Round of 16
Hellas Verona 3 - 0 Cittadella
Milik 19', 48', Embolo 83'
Simulated.
Atalanta 0 - 1 Hellas Verona
Choupo-Moting 20'
"This was another bad performance from the team. I don't know what has happened to them but we barely did anything right. Yes, Eric's (Choupo-Moting) finish was very clinical but that shot was fifty percent of our chances today. We have a game against Milan in a week and a lot of things need to change."
Livorno 0 - 1 Hellas Verona
Milik 26'
Simulated.
Hellas Verona 0 - 2 AC Milan
Honda 38', Rondon 61'
"I'm glad this game ended. We had only one shot in the whole game and Milan dominated us. Their victory was completely deserved. We were terrible, horrific, awful, horrible and so on. This month has been the worst this season."
Quarter Final
Hellas Verona 2 - 1 Parma
Milik 74', 100'
Diop 90'
Simulated.
Catania 0 - 2 Hellas Verona
Florenzi 40', 46'
Simulated.
Semi Final, 1st leg
Hellas Verona 2 - 1 Genoa
Choupo-Moting 25', Praet 45'
Pinilla 82'
"This was another poor game from us but we won and that's what matters. Two things were disgraceful today: Dybala's Torres-like miss and the last-minute foul on Breel Embolo inside the box that wasn't called. The referee didn't have a good game and we got robbed a goal."
Serie A Table
1. Hellas Verona, 59 pts
2. Juventus, 48 pts
3. AC Milan, 42 pts
4. Chievo Verona, 40 pts
5. AS Roma, 38 pts
6. Genoa, 37 pts
------------------------------------------------
18. Sassuolo, 20 pts
19. Livorno, 12 pts
20. Catania, 11 pts
Starting XI
A lot simulating, I know, but the schedule was tight and there were deals going through.
Thank you for reading this post! I hope you have enjoyed it! Any feedback or suggestions will be appreciated!

West Ham United are poised to break the bank to make some big name splashes in the January transfer window.[spoiler]
The Hammers current squad (with Collins having moved to Fulham), can be found here at the 8:08 mark:

Wow, those are some big time transfer rumors. Pastore would be a big capture if you were able to bring him in. Januzaj of course would be huge not just for now, but likely would be your star player for years to come. Bringing Song back would be nice, especially since you have experience with him already from that loan deal. You've got me excited to see who you do end up bringing in.

Spoiler"Thanks, sir.

Spoiler
Wow, you've completely redesigned your team. Some HUGE additions for you, and the combination of permanent and loan deals is amazing. So many players who can truly turn you into a real Premier League threat. I know you felt the quality lacking at times last season, I don't think you will have the problem as much this year! So many moves it's hard to comment on specific ones, but I think you did a lot to improve the quality in your side throughout all positions.

A lot simulating, I know, but the schedule was tight and there were deals going through.
Thank you for reading this post! I hope you have enjoyed it! Any feedback or suggestions will be appreciated!
Big sale of Rulli to Bayern, and you certainly put those funds to work! Perin and Marquinhos should be huge for you defensively. And you made some nice additions to your midfield and attack as well. Good month aside from the loss to AC Milan, which still isn't a terrible loss since they are 3rd in the table after all. You still hold a nice lead over Juventus as well. Looking at your starting XI, your midfield and attack are fantastic, and your defense is quickly catching up as well. Once Masuaku grows a little more into his potential you won't have a weak point anywhere on the field.

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
@TEX Yes, I agree that we didn't have enough depth last season. There were times when the lack of a second dynamic player to support Mackay-Steven proved to be a problem last season, but we have an ample number of options at our disposal. I specifically brought Ince and Paterson in for that, while Kane should offer another dimension up top. Lavery is currently playing at LAM to accommodate May, but he's such a potent goal threat that I may just let him lead the line and swap May for another attacking midfielder. But yes, we have options on the bench to deal with all sorts of situations. We're also still in early August, so we have time and funds (still have about £5m and £35k wages) to make changes or additions.Comment

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?
Oh, and despite the big number of signings, our first team only sees three new players in the starting XI. Williams comes in for Lees, Obita for Mattock, and Ince for Maghoma. Most of the other signings are squad or impact players, except Kane and Paterson.Comment

Season 1
October 2014
Oct 4th
Match 11
Portsmouth 1-2 Hartlepool
Taylor 2'
James 35' (Donnelly)
Compton 59'
MotM: Michael Woods
"What a match. They really tested us and proved why they are 3rd. They came out of the blocks fast getting the goal. We had a period of dominance and Luke (James) leveled after some nice play with Rory (Donnelly). Their keeper made a mistake for our winner but that's the tight margins in football. They produced some great saves from Scott (Flinders) and hit the bar late on. That's how tight it was."
Oct 7th
J. Paint Trophy Round 2
Gillingham 0-1 Hartlepool
James 64' (Donnelly)
MotM: Luke James
Donnelly played James in and he turned onto his left inside the defender and slotted it away to take the lead for us. It was a tight game with not many shots on target for either side. Luke James and Harrsion Reed were very good.
Oct 11th
Match 12
Hartlepool 0-1 Cambridge
Appiah 31'
Lanzoni 56'
MotM: Chris Dunn
Donnelly was again on international duty with Northern Ireland for this one. It appeared to be a big loss as we slumped to our first defeat of the season. Appiah was the damage dealer scoring just after the half hour mark after holding off Laing before picking his spot past Flinders. Even though we dominated the shot count and Lanzoni got himself sent off in the 56th minute we were unable to break down a stubborn Cambridge side who defended their lead very well. Chris Dunn made a total of 10 saves for Cambridge earning Man of the Match.
Oct 18th
Match 13
Burton Albion 0-3 Hartlepool
Sharps 31'
Donnelly 31' (Pen)
Holden 42'
Donnelly 57' (Pen)
MotM: Rory Donnelly
Things looked very good when Sharps, the Burton captain, slid in from behind inside the area giving away a penalty and earning a red card in the process. Donnelly was more than happy to put away the penalty for his 10th league goal. They responded quickly rattling our crossbar with a header soon after. Holden, the left back, made it two smashing in from the edge of the box after a corner came out to him. His shot went through the defenders legs and so the keeper didn't see it until it was too late. Holden turned villain moments later when he tackled Phillips late giving away a penalty. Beavon stepped up and cannoned it off the left post after doing a stutter in his run up. Flinders had dived the right way and probably would have saved it. Burton gave away another penalty, this time McCrory took down Donnelly as he tried to get on the end of a rebounded shot. Donnelly took it himself putting it, the other way to the first, past the keeper. A 3-0 victory here gets us back on track.
Oct 21st
Match 14
Hartlepool 2-2 Cheltenham
James 11' (Compton)
Harrison 19'
James 27' (Donnelly)
Gornell 29'
MotM: Luke James
Compton delivered a cross from the left and James jumped highest to head powerfully in at the front post. Harrison took it into himself and turned Laing before slotting home the equalizer. Donnelly flicked it beautifully around Brown to turn him and then played James in who finished it first time down low. Cheltenham hit back straight away through Terry Gornell. The ball was played over the top and Laing was unable to knock him off the ball to prevent him from scoring.
Oct 25th
Match 15
Northampton 0-4 Hartlepool
James 14' (Compton)
Walker 38'
Walker 45' (Franks)
James 87' (Woods)
MotM: Luke James
A few players were rested with Stoke coming up in 2 days time. James was still on the field however and he headed in a Compton cross to take the lead. A Compton cross from the right was headed away from James but it only dropped into the box and Walker was alert enough to steer it home. Walker got a second right on halftime outpacing the center half before turning back inside and curling around the keeper. Woods passed it into James on the edge of the 6 yard box and he turned to slot it away for his second of the game.
Oct 28th
Capital One Cup Round of 16
Stoke 2-3 Hartlepool
Laing 10' OG
Shotton 15' OG
Pieters 45' OG
Crouch 50'
Donnelly 72' (Reed)
MotM: Harrison Reed
We looked to take another Premier League scalp at the Britannia while attempting to extend our cup run. Laing putting the ball into his own net was a terrible start. Crouch had tried to pass it across and Laing was running back as it hit off his foot and into the net. 5 minutes later Shotton had done the same thing at the other end passing it through Butland's legs and into the net. Amazingly there was another own goal, the third in the game, again from Stoke. Compton's rebounded shot went up inside the 6 yard box where Donnelly was prowling. Pieters and Sidwell got muddled up with Pieters heading into the net. A beautiful cross in between Flinders and the back line allowed Crouch to head past Flinders. Donnelly smashed past Butland in the 72nd minute to give us the win.

October Headlines
Hartlepool's 100% Record Falls
The Monkey Hangers' winning start to the official season came to an end this month with a 1-0 loss against the 10 men of Cambridge United. The was followed 2 games later with a 2-2 draw at home to Cheltenham. Despite these results Hartlepool remain top of the table and still fighting in the J. Paint Trophy and the Capital One Cup after beating Gillingham and Stoke respectively. A winning run always comes to an end and Keane will hope that his team can get back to winning ways and push on for promotion, first and for most, but he no doubt will be aiming to take the title.

Very impressive win over Stoke! You're doing well so far and your spot at the top of the table is proof of that. Donnelly and James are an outstanding duo for you in the attack. They seem to be unstoppable, and neither has really outshone the other.
