    Deportivo La Coruña
    FIFA 15 - Season 1

    Blanquiazules’

    January 2014

    RC Deportivo 3 - Athletic Bilbao 3
    DEP - Dominguez 35', Medunjanin 69' (Pen), Cuenca 86'
    ATH - Gomez 10', Benteke 14', Rico 25'
    MOTM: Gomez

Susaeta got free down the left wing and beat a man with some skill before sending a cross into the box that found Gomez for the opening goal off the header. De Marcos had the ball played to him down the right side of the goal and quickly played it to Benteke who directed it to the far post to double the lead. Rico made it 3-0 after Juan Dominguez lost him in the box and he received the ball right in front of goal for the easy finish. Juan Dominguez got Deportivo on the board after dribbling from the right side into the box to unleash a powerful left footed shot into the top right corner. In the 68th minute Bilbao's keeper took out Diakite as the ball was coming in to concede a penalty that Medunjanin converted easily to bring it within 1. Fariña controlled the ball on the right side of the box and found Cuenca cutting into the middle who was able to take 1 touch and then direct it to the bottom left corner to complete the comeback from down 3-0.

Copa Del Rey Round of 16 Leg 1
    Rayo Vallecano 5 - RC Deportivo 4
    RAY - Trashorras 5', 45', 90', Baptiastao 63', Bueno 76'
    DEP - Fariña 48', Medunjanin 54', 89', Cavaleiro 67'
    MOTM: Trashorras

Trashorras was left unmarked right in front of goal and easily placed it past the keeper. He added another on a run up the middle and fired a low shot between two defenders into the bottom left corner. Fariña used a series of step overs to beat the last defender and go through on goal for the strong finish to the top right. Juanfran laid the ball off in the box to Medunjanin for a first time finish into the top right corner. Baptistao used a quick touch to send the defender the wrong way and hit it from just inside the box perfectly to the far post. Cavaleiro had the ball taken from him in the box, but his persistence got the ball back right back for the quick finish. Bueno pulled down a ball that was played over the top and touched it past Insua to hit it quickly into the top left corner. Medunjanin then converted a penalty after he drew it when Quini took him down inside the box and was shown a straight red. Trashorras then got the winner off a great ball over the top right between the two center halves and he headed it strong past the keeper.

    Levante UD 2 - RC Deportivo 3
    LEV - Victor 44', Martins 68'
    DEP - Postiga 45', 90', Cavaleiro 71'
    MOTM: Cavaleiro

Levante moved the ball around excellently getting the ball to Victor in the middle who turned to his left around the defender and put it past the keeper. Cavaleiro took off on a counter just before half and played the ball to Postiga on the left side of the box who hit it past the rushing keeper into the right side of the goal. Manuel Pablo in a fit of madness cleared the ball from the wing directly into his own box rather than out of bounds and Martins rose up to beat the defense to the header and placed it in the bottom left corner. Juan Dominguez got the ball at the top of the box and quickly played it to Medunjanin on the left side of the goal who was able to send a cross in that Cavaleiro headed home for the equalizer. With the match almost over, Cavaleiro took off down the right wing and played the ball across the face of the goal for Postiga to tap in to secure all 3 points.

Copa Del Rey Round of 16 Leg 2
    RC Deportivo 4 (8) - Rayo Vallecano 3 (8)
    DEP - Fariña 6', 75', Cuenca 21', Perez 47'
    RAY - Bueno 13', Trashorras 36', Manucho 79'
    MOTM: Fariña

Fariña tracked down the ball after it was deflected inside the box and collected it to turn and shoot right inside the right post. Diakite conceded a penalty after trying to win position in a race to the ball when Lux inexplicably failed to come off his line to collect it allowing Bueno to convert off the left post and in. Fariña found Cuenca down the right side of the goal and he placed it back across the goal just under the keeper's arm. Trashorras equalized after he dribbled the ball towards the right side of the goal and fired a shot perfectly to the far post. Cuenca played the ball to Juan Dominguez outside the box who was quickly able to find Perez down the right side for a first time strike past the keeper on the near post. Valeron found Postiga at the top of the box who made a quick turn and laid it off for Fariña to hit a powerful shot just over the keeper's shoulder. Lass broke free down the right wing and sent a cross into the box that once again due to Lux's lack of aggression, Manucho was able to get his head on it and put it into the net. Deportivo was able to hold on the rest of the way and they will advance based on away goals.

    RC Deportivo 2 - FC Barcelona 1
    DEP - Medunjanin 39', Perez 74'
    FCB - Neymar 54'
    MOTM: Lux

Cavaleiro dribbled in from the right wing and played the ball to Perez at the top of the box who quickly found Medunjanin on the left side of the goal for a low shot that took a bounce under the keeper and ended up in the back of the net. Barcelona found an equalizer in the second half on a corner when Pique rose up to head the ball to the left side of the goal for Neymar to hit with a fantastic side volley into the top left corner. Juan Dominguez dribbled from the right side of the box towards the middle and played it to Perez who was holding off a man on his back and didn't even bother to turn fully around before unleashing a left footed shot that went just inside the left post for the winning goal. The headlines will rightfully go to German Lux in goal who totaled an unbelievable 20 saves in the match.

Copa Del Rey Quarter Final Leg 1
    Real Madrid 2 - RC Deportivo 3
    REA - Benzema 27', 84'
    DEP - Perez 6', Fariña 50', Medunjanin 65'
    MOTM: Fariña

Fariña played the ball to Perez down the right side of the goal who was able to hold off Ramos and use his right foot to blast the ball into the top right corner. Ronaldo beat two separate defenders coming in from the left wing and played a low ball across for Benzema to tap in easily for an equalizer. Juanfran dribbled in from the right wing across the top of the box and found Fariña up the middle who used his first touch to get around Pepe, and then his second touch to avoid Ramos, and his third was to slide the ball inside the near post to regain the lead for Deportivo. Juanfran came across the top of the box from the right side once again and picked out Medunjanin on the left side of the goal who used his weaker right foot to power it past Casillas on the near post. In a poor display, Juanfran held on to the ball too long and had it taken away by Khedira who played it ahead immediately to Benzema for an easy 1 on 1 finish to the right side of the goal.

    RC Deportivo 1 - Granada CF 1
    DEP - Cavaleiro 23'
    GRA - Rochina 12'
    MOTM: Lux

Rochina opened the game early with a goal off a deflection from Lux's save that Pablo just couldn't get his foot on to clear it. Juan Dominguez attacked the right side of the goal and fired a shot to the far post that deflected off the post to Perez on the left to send in a quick cross for Cavaleiro to head home for the equalizer. After two early goals though, the scoring was done for the night.

Copa Del Rey Quarter Final leg 2
    RC Deportivo 1 (4) - Real Madrid 2 (4)
    DEP - Perez 71'
    REA - Aguero 26', Bale 45'
    MOTM: Perez

Aguero put an exclamation on his debut for Madrid when he received the ball at the top of the box and used his right foot to place it in the top right corner. Bale added a second when Khedira tacked down a loose ball and laid it off to him in the box for a first time strike just past the keeper's outstretched foot. With Deportivo needing a goal Postiga got the ball ahead on the counter and found Perez running straight up the middle who then took a touch left to place it around Casillas just inside the left post and advance Deportivo to the Semi-Final to take on Barcelona.

    League Table

    Abegondo Academy
Adrian Alvarez (Spain) - 17 years old, 36-40 OVR 68-80 POT, RB, Winger
Fabian Lopez (Argentina) - 16 years old, 43-55 OVR 69-89 POT, LB, Defensive Minded
Mario Diaz (Spain) - 16 years old, 37-39 OVR 72-76 POT, CM, Defensive Minded
Nelson Palacios (Argentina) - 16 years old, 43-53 OVR 67-85 POT, LW/ST/RW/CAM/LM/RM, Play style unknown
Sebastian Torres (Spain) - 15 years old, 44-48 OVR 73-81 POT, LM/LB, Defensive Minded
Victor Manuel (Argentina) - 17 years old, 50-58 OVR 70-82 POT, RW/LM/RM/RB, Winger

Deportivo La Coruña Player of the Month

    Haris Medunjanin

It was a tough choice this month between Haris Medunjanin and Lucas Perez, but Medunjanin won out in the end due to his contributions all over the pitch and not just the attack. His 4 goals to go with an assist were key in several matches, and his ability to track back during each defensive possession proved to be a hassle for opponents all month long.

    Manager Comments

Goals, Goals, Goals - After months of struggling to find the back of the net, we couldn't seem to be stopped this month. Unfortunately we also couldn't stop the other teams from scoring either for the most part. While the improved attacking form is great, the trade off isn't necessarily a good one if we are allowing that many goals in on the other end.

Academy Update - Two new players from Argentina have joined the academy. The first is Fabian Lopez who will feature on the left side of the defense and brings a strong defensive mentality to the position. The second is Nelson Palacios who hasn't quite settled into a position yet, but will likely feature in the attack. After wrapping up a successful trip in Argentina, we have moved our scout to Mexico now to see if we can't find some prospects to bring over into Spanish football.

Giant Killers - We are making a name for ourselves as a tough opponent against the top teams in the league. With our win over Real Madrid earlier this season, the win against Barca this month, and knocking Real Madrid out of the Copa Del Rey, we have proven that we are never an easy 3 points.

Manuel Pablo - With the club advancing to the semi-final of the Copa Del Rey, the captain wants to end his long and historical Deportivo career with a great run. Manuel Pablo was part of the Deportivo team that beat Real Madrid in the 2002 Copa Del Rey Final, but he went down with a broken Fibia early in the season and missed the entire run through the cup competition including the final. Now with a chance to recapture that missed glory, the man who is looking to retire wants to go out with his own contribution to a piece of hardware that he wasn't able to play for the first time around in his career.

Maybe try a League 2 team and build them up to European and Premier League glory? Use one of the lowest budget teams to make it even more challenging. Hope this helps!

Thanks! League 2 is always a good option for a challenge that will take some time. It will be the 4th season at the earliest that you could even make it to the Premier League. Portsmouth are a good option, they have some solid players and a great history for the club. Plymouth Argyle also has a couple of decent potential players for a league 2 side. Shrewsbury and Southend United could also be worth taking a look at.

Hey guys, sorry I haven't been commenting much on your careers, but I have been reading them still. I usually comment in my down time at work, but I have been extremely busy lately. I think it should be slowing down now though and I should be able to get back to commenting like I normally do!

Hey guys I wont have an update for my CM's until at least Saturday. I need a break from Fifa and I have a lot of School stuff to deal with. Coupled with working 4-11 Monday-Friday I have no time this wk to play Fifa let alone do an update for a CM. Just keep in mind that I wont have an update the rest of the wk.

Like others have posted go with League 2 man. If you really want a challenge maybe try one of the recently promoted teams like Luton Town or Cambridge United.

It's a shame that you had to sell Vedad Ibisevic to Borussia M'Gladbach and they were your first opponents! At least he didn't score though.

In my Exeter CM, when I bought loads of people at the start of my latest season, our first few performances with the new signings were disapointing. But when your team gets used to playing as a unit, you'll be flying again!

Josip Drmic looks like a good replacement. He's got many more years to develop and i'm sure he'll fill the boots of Ibisevic.

Good Luck with the rest of the season!

Good luck with that measly transfer budget and go easy on Exeter for me!

Firstly, Chris Jamieson IV sounds awesome! He's 6'7 and has a pretty cool name. What more do you want?!

Not too bad of a month due to Federico Palacios doing well in most of the games you won.

It's nice to hear about how much you enjoy how yor team is playing right now. I hope it continues like that and that you build on your already solid position in the league.

What a very exciting and narrow month. Firstly, you've done really well to finish the game 3-3 against Athletic Bilbao after going 3-0 down!

Great wins against Real Madrid and Barca and you've been doing very nicely in the Copa Del Ray!

Hmmm, if you want a real challenge try Accrington Stanley or Newport County. They were both really struggling in my last few seasons in my Exeter City CM. It'd be nice to see them a formidable force!

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

First of all congrats to the crew on breaking 1,000, undoubtedly one of the best threads on the internet today. Now to your CM's:

                        * Tex: INSANE games against Rayo, that must had been really tense. I see you have the chico-disease, meaning you gave up 8 goals to Rayo but give up just one in an upset of Barca (and I know your keeper went bananas), then also take of care of Real in the cup. You're an enigma.

*Chico: solid April to stay in the top 6. Do you feel ready for a possible spot in the Champions? I'd really like to see your 4-named CDM get promoted (I doubt he'll stay in the academy another full season anyways).

                        * Simp: Welcome to England! Hurry up and kick *** in League 2 and 1 and get that academy going (love the policy). Looking forward to seeing whether you make any moves before the season starts. Also congrats on another great career at Verona! (I hated seeing that loss against Bayern)

                        * Cruzerr: tough luck against Gladbach. Not too familiar with your signings but I do like your roster overall and there's still plenty of time for you to jump back on top of the Bundesliga.

                        * sportsfreak: I'm a Thievy fan because he owned me for the longest time at Alcorcon, nothing but respect. Nice to see him balling for you. CRAZY game against Celta. Nice to see you among the best in the league but I hate that your best academy players are both keepers (since I believe they don't progress that well when promoted, or has that been fixed?)

                        * Moose: Just wanted to let you know I appreciate the love from you even though I'm unable to follow your CM due to no audio at work. On that note I'll just tell you I actually envy you and wish I had the time to do updates the way you do, nothing better than highlights (which I try to include from time to time).

                        * Keano: you're awesome your constant commenting on all of our CM's, thought I'd point that out. EXCELLENT February with Swansea though I see it'll take a bit of work to challenge for the title. I'd be happy to see you at least earn a direct return to the Champions.

                        * Indi: You in Oakland yet? Anyways, damn City for ruining what would had been a perfect October. I need goal scorers dude! Nice tricky way to make us read every recap lol. Nice to see you already battling at the top of the standings (again, forcing me to read )

That Celta game was crazy mate. It was one of those games where one guy scores then the other team scores soon there after. It was quite irritating to say the least. Bifouma has been lights out in front of goal hell he's smashed a goal in from 35 yards out in the Euro league earlier this year. Also GK's out of the Academy do grow it just takes longer then it should.

Valeron got the ball at the top of the box and used a nice touch to get past a defender and lay it off to Perez on the right side of goal for a precise finish to the bottom left corner.

Fariña got the ball on the counter and raced down towards the left side of the goal and fired a shot that was saved by the keeper, but Perez was there to tap in the rebound for an early lead. A bad pass by Juanfran was intercepted by Rafinha who pushed it ahead to Messi for a first touch pass to Neymar up the middle for the strong finish inside the right post for the equalizer.

Rodriguez found Medunjanin on the top right side of the box who then used a quick turn to get around his defender and fire the ball inside the near post. Off of a corner, Arruabarrena was able to head the ball down into Boateng's path for the quick strike and an equalizer. Valeron used an outstanding chip over the defense to play Perez through on goal for the easy finish. Nono then threaded the ball through to Toche on the counter for the 1 on 1 finish past the keeper. Del Moral used some sneaky touches to get between 3 defenders and place the ball on the far post. Medunjanin played Toche in the middle who was able to lay it off to Perez on the right side of the goal for a well placed shot to the bottom left corner.

Fariña dribbled up the middle of the field towards the box and used a series of nice touches to get to the right side of the goal and slot it home on the near post. Perez then found Cuenca on the left side of goal as he got past the defense and finished perfectly to the far post against his past team. Neymar had a quick answer when Messi played the ball to him at the top of the box for a quick strike to the bottom left corner. Perez and Cavaleiro worked a great combination of passes on the counter and Cavaleiro drew the keeper out before playing it across the box for Perez to tap in. Neymar struck again after Messi chased down a loose ball and played it back into the box for Neymar to hit strongly into the bottom left once again. Just before half Fariña played Cavaleiro through on goal between two defenders and he easily beat the keeper on the near post. Messi pulled one back for Barcelona with a great header on a Neymar cross from the right wing. Barcelona were unable to get the last goal needed and Deportivo will advance to the final against Sevilla.

Bale sent a cross in to Ronaldo unmarked on a back post run for an easy header into the net. Aguero played Modric at the top of the box who took one touch and then fired it off the right post and in. Aguero played a great ball over the top for Bale to control with a touch and then slide it past the keeper inside the left post. Cuenca dribbled through the defense working his way to the right post before sending in a cross that Cavaleiro was able to head home. Ronaldo sent his defender the wrong way and then beat the keeper on the near post for an easy goal. Lux made a save, but Insua was in an unlucky position to have it deflect off of him and back into the net for an own goal. Ronaldo barely got back onside before the ball was played to him and he went through to beat the the keeper 1 on 1 to complete his hat-trick.

Postiga side stepped a challenge and played the ball through to Nono for the first time finish on the near left post. Valeron lined up a free kick opportunity from the left side of the box and just barely missed off the post, but Cavaleiro was there to tap in the rebound. Nolito received the ball surrounded by defenders and dribbled away from the goal towards the top of the box before turning to fire a well placed shot inside the right post.

Deportivo La Coruña Player of the Month

                            Lucas Perez

Lucas Perez was in impressive form this month collecting a tally of 5 goals and 3 assists across all competitions. His goal against Barcelona in the first leg of the Copa Del Rey semi-final was what gave Deportivo the confidence that they could pull off the upset going into the second leg.

                            Manager Comments

Academy Update - Spanish youngster, Damian Silva, has joined the academy. His future is likely as a defensive midfielder, but his position isn't settled just yet. No other significant movements were made this month while the scouts are still looking all over Spain and Mexico.

Cinderella - We have advanced to the final of the Copa Del Rey after knocking out perennial powerhouse, Barcelona. This made back-to-back eliminations of Real Madrid and Barcelona by our hands. We now will play a one match, winner takes all against Sevilla to determine who will take home the cup.

Falling into place - Our form is outstanding right now and the pieces are finally falling into place for the squad. After a disappointing start that saw us just 1 spot out of relegation at one point, we have now climbed all the way to 6th. Is this something we can hold on to until the end of the season? We will have to see. Other clubs do have games in hand on us, but we feel great right now and that it would take a big performance to take us down while playing our game.

Juan Carlos Valerón - Struggling early in the season, Valerón has reinvented himself as a holding midfielder rather than his usual attacking role. Playing deeper has allowed him more time on the ball to use his passing abilities he has become known for throughout his career. While many question his defensive abilities, he has certainly held his own at the base of the diamond during our great run of form.

Matt Green passed by Bury's backline with his blistering pace as he finessed it passed the keeper to give us the lead. Clayton Donaldson doubled the lead after the CB's gave him too much space. We slowed down in the second half and Bury did score in injury time with Rose heading it into the top corner. But it was nothing but a consolation goal.

Deeney scored just before the first half of injury time when Robinson our captain, failed to clear the ball giving the ball to the English striker as he buried it. The game was going to end in a Blues loss. But great play down the wing between Cotterill and Novak saw Cotterill cross it in to Wes Thomas
who beat the jumping defender to head it into the low corner with the last play of the game.

Smith had a open header from a good cross giving the away side the lead early. Clayton Donaldson then scored from 4 yards after a low cross from Reilly was placed to the strikers foot as he neatly placed away.

                              Sky Sports, August 26 2014

Birmingham have announced the signing of young Socceroo and Swindon Town midfielder Massimo Luongo. The club announced the 21 year old on their club website. "We are delighted to have Massimo at the club, he has been a target of ours for a while now, he had a solid season last season with Swindon and we had our eye on him," quoted the Bimingham Board. The fee is believed to be around the a million pound mark and links up with fellow Australian in manager Jake Gaspar. He will wear the number 24.

                              (Thomas 39' 62' 90+4')

The game was end to end with Thomas opening the scoring 6 minutes until half time after Reilly out strengthed the defensive player who was dueling with him for the ball, he passed it to Thomas who weeved through defenders to smash it passed Boruc. Pitman went straight down the middle when he took the penalty. Pitman won the penalty after Hancox bought down him in the box. A strong run into the box by Reilly again was able for him square it too Thomas who tapped it in from a yard. We parked the bus as they attacked and in the 92nd minute they won a corner where everyone went up for Bournemouth (including the keeper). The ball was whipped in and headed up from the near post where Tokelo Rantie, who came off the bench, headers it through the players and our keeper where the ball is stumbled over the line by a trailing foot to make it 2-2. However, from kickoff space opens in the middle to give DM Jonathan Spector who passed it on to Thomas for his hattrick and to win the game as the whistle went from kick off.

His speed and strength gives him the advantage to get around defenders. He has become in-form at the right time with Tokelo Rantie joining the club.

An undefeated month to start my reigh which is great. We tried two formations with a 3-4-3 in the first two matches and the 4-1-2-1-2 narrow in the second two games. Our first three games we had a combined 9 shots on target which was concerning. However, with seven shot on target in our last game was promising and with our new signing in Rantie he hopefully will boost our shots on targets and the formation also giving us more players to attack, we will probably stick with the 4-1-2-1-2 formation. We had some great indiviuals this month however, if it wasn't for the team they wouldn't of had those performances. We have good depth so their is no room for bad performances and the players know this. This season looks promising Birmingham fans, be excited.

Overall a good month as you remained unbeaten to open the season. Still some dropped points with the 2 draws, but you are doing great so far. Like your Aussie signing! Has the chance to grow into a solid player for you that can take over as your main playmaker somewhere down the line possibly. Rantie signing is a nice one as well, the guy has unbelievable pace. With him and Green in your squad you shouldn't have to worry about pace, ever.
