Games

Capital One Cup
Round 1
West Brom 2-1 Port Vale
82' Ideye (Bahlouli)
87' Yayes (Marshall)
111' McManaman (Ideye)
First game of the month was going to be exciting, as we had a Capital One Cup fixture against Port Vale. However, we had two players making their first appearances in the club, Bahlouli and Stones. The game started well for us, as we kept applying pressure, yet could not score. Our strikers were not doing well. Yet, our substitute, Brown Ideye, gave us the lead very late into the game. The home team tied it back, as Yates hammered in a great corner, sending the game to extra time. While the first half of extra time was boring, the second half did see goals, as McManaman hammered it past the goalkeeper and gave us the win.
A few weeks later, due to the international break, we had another COC game, this time against Chelterham. We had a very early chance to take the lead, as Bahlouli got taken down in the box and we earned a penalty. Hird was given a red card. Gardner stepped up to take it, yet it was saved well.
However, Gardner eventually made up for it, as his pass sent Anichebe through on goal, where he slid it past the goalkeeper and into the net. A few moments later, Gamboa started running up the flank and crossed it into the box, where McManaman sent a looping header over the keeper to make it 2 for us. The substitute, Garmston, managed to get a goal aswell, as he ran down the flank, got a pass from Anichebe and was through on goal. Chelterham did get one back, as a fight in the box left Banks open, where he put it past Foster. Still, a 3-1 victory was enough for us to advance to the next round.

Barclays Premier League
Matchday 4
Burnley 0-2 West Brom
17' Fletcher (Ideye)
80' Ideye (Gardner)
The first Premier League game of the month was against Burnley at home. And it started perfectly, as some good ball movement and a bit of luck, got Darren Fletcher into the box where he put it past Heaton to take the lead early. We were moving the ball really well and creating chances, but so was Burnley. Luckily, the other goal that came this game was from Ideye, as a good pass through by Gardner, saw him sprinting past the defense and putting it into the bottom corner. Our first home win really helped my confidence and also the teams confidence.

Barclays Premier League
Matchday 5
West Brom 1-0 Tottenham Hotspurs
39' Yacob (Pocognoli)
Last game of the month was against Tottenham Hotspurs, away from home. Even if Spurs were struggling early on and we were playing pretty well, I knew it wasn't going to be an easy game. First half however, we were the ones, who were controlling the tempo and making the plays. Tottenham did get close a few times, with the likes of Eriksen and Walker shooting, yet hitting the bar. Then, a few minutes before half-time, we got on a good attack. Pocognoli took a shot, which got saved by Vorm, yet it bounced out to Yacob, who smashed it right outside of the box and into the net. It hit the post aswell. We went more defensive after that, hoping to secure the win, which was very difficult. Soldado managed to score, yet it was called offside. Luckily, the game finished 1-0 and we had defeated one of the bigger teams of the league.
The point this month goes to Claudio Yacob. He really impressed me with his workethic in the midfield and he scored the winner against Tottenham, which was huge for us.
Two points go for Ben Foster. He was solid in goal, as he kept us in the Burnley and Tottenham game. He did not play in the COC games (Myhill played in those).
And three points goes for Joleon Lescott. After playing well last month, he continued to be a beast in the back. Defo a big factor in the Tottenham game.
What a month! - We went through 2 rounds in the COC and beat Burnley and Tottenham, putting us in a really good position at the moment in the league.
First Berahino, now Sessegnon - Sessegnon has been injured and that is the reason why Gardner has been getting more minutes. Two of our main players out, it doesn't look good, judging on what kind of a month we have coming up.
October clashes - We have both Liverpool and Manchester in our first two games, then we get to face Everton. After the Toffees, we have a game against Crystal Palace and a Round of 32 game in COC against Rotherham United.
So, this is the September post, I hope you enjoyed it, please, if anything, leave feedback! :P
A very good month! All wins if I'm not mistaken. Slight scare against Port Vale but you pulled through and got past Chesterfield then. Wins and clean sheets against Burnley and Spurs was a good way to end the month!
@Moose Hope I can get to watch the contenders before the poll closes! Also judging by comments you finished in 3rd not far off 1st. Congrats man! Some achievement!
