Raul Albentosa will be out for 5 weeks with a broken metatarsal that was suffered in training. Paré Bulhões Vinuesa Ramos (CDM) is expected to take his place as LCB until Albentosa recovers.

Europa League - Group Stage
CA Osasuna (B-Team) 1 - 2 SK Rapid Wien

OSA: Kodro 82'
Osasuna's first home loss of the season, however they remain unbeaten at home in La Liga. The B Team looked out of ideas for the majority of the match even when Vienna (Wien) were 2-0 up Osasuna still couldn't find any answers. Kenan Kodro shortened the distance by scoring a header off a rebound. The goalkeeper had parried the shot high into the air. The ball came down, hit the crossbar, bounced back up, hit the crossbar again, and bounced back in to the box where Kodro was able to get his head to it amongst all the confusion. Osasuna weren't able to equalize, and the away fans were surprisingly loud something that isn't very common at El Sadar.

CA Osasuna 1 - 0 Levante UD
OSA: Camarasa 50'
As usual, Levante played an incredible match against Osasuna but in the end it was none other than the former Levante midfielder Victor Camarasa who gave his current club the lead with a rebound. Aside from the goal Osasuna were very poor in attack, pushing forward with the ball under control but once they made it to the attacking third the plays became very unorganized. One player did stand out, Guillermo. The Basque striker was not able to influence the score line but he put in a total of 7 shots with 6 of them being on target. After him, Roberto Torres had the most shots with 2.

Celta de Vigo 0 - 2 CA Osasuna

In the last match Guillermo had been the most hard working player and tonight he was finally rewarded, as very early on in the match he powered a shot into the net from near the penalty spot.

His relief was evident as he celebrated, but he still kept trying for a second goal. Celta defended really well however, and chances were scarce even though Osasuna controlled the midfield. Late in the second half Kenan Kodro was subbed in to replace Federico Palacios who had been having a poor match tonight. Kodro went up top as ST, while Guillermo was dropped down to play CF where Palacios had been playing. This change immediately made a difference, as spaces began to open up in attack. In the 82nd minute Kodro received the ball at the edge of the box, shielded it, and then sent a through ball towards Guillermo who was making his run into the box. Guillermo took a touch to control it and then put it past the keeper!

Even with the 2-0 lead Osasuna continued to look for more goals with Guillermo being unstoppable behind Kodro. It had been a long time since Guillermo scored two in the same match, and his performance tonight sent a message that perhaps CF behind Kodro could get the most out of him.

CA Osasuna 0 - 0 Real Sociedad
Two Basque clubs went head to head, and for the first time this season Federico Palacios did not start the match. Instead, Kenan Kodro was given his first opportunity as a starter with the first team playing as ST with Guillermo at CF. As the scoreline shows, Osasuna did not produce much in attack. We often saw Guillermo drifting too wide towards the wings becoming more like a winger than a striker, and if you want to get the most out of Guillermo he needs to be near the box. On the other hand Kodro really disappointed as he was unable to beat his markers tonight. Anything he tried to do with the ball there was always a defender on him to tackle the ball away.

Two Basque derbies in a row but in this one Osasuna were able to find the net and win as well. Chavez made another change to the lineup, this time dropping Isma Lopez to the bench and putting Palacios at LM from the start. Also, Rodriguez requested to play this derby and his wish was granted. It wasn't all nice and bubbly though, as the Reds found themselves chasing the match the majority of the time. The first incident came in the 37th minute as Bilbao's De Marcos made a crunching tackle on Osasuna's Palacios.

Palacios went down and El Sadar exploded with jeers and whistles, pressuring the referee who came running towards the scene of the crime and pulled out a direct red card! Bilbao were a man down, but with a few adjustments they stayed in control of the match and right before halftime Beñat put them in the lead with a perfectly struck volley. Even with an extra man on the field Osasuna just couldn't break through Bilbao's defense, so early on in the second half Chavez dropped the 4-4-1-1 formation and returned to the 4-3-3 Holding that was used last season. Kenan Kodro, who was having another difficult match, was the man sacrificed in order to make the formation change work and Isma Lopez came on from the bench to face his former team. Soon after the formation change a penalty was called in favor of Osasuna for a foul on RCM Victor Camarasa as he dribbled into the box. Roberto Torres converted the penalty in the 70th minute with a well placed shot to the right and Osasuna were back in the game. Just THREE minutes later though, the attacking midfielder Ruiz de Galarreta beat Miguel Flaño and Ivan to a rebound after Rodriguez had made a fantastic save, and he put Bilbao back in the lead!

It looked like Bilbao would be the first team in La Liga to defeat Osasuna at El Sadar, but just five minutes after the goal ANOTHER penalty was called in favor of Osasuna! This time it was Roberto Torres who received the foul. Iraizoz had saved a shot from Guillermo and Roberto Torres came running in from LCM looking for the rebound. Beñat was chasing after him, and right as Torres jumped to head the ball he was - in lack of a better description - sandwiched by Beñat and Iraizoz. Torres went to the ground and the referee called the foul committed by Beñat.

Despite already taking the first penalty shot Torres was not intimidated and he stepped up to take it again. This time he put it in the exact same spot as the first penalty and the goalkeeper guessed it right, but just barely couldn't his hand to it. The equalizer gave Osasuna extra motivation, and they kept pushing for another as they were playing much much better with the 4-3-3. In the final minute of the match, Miguel Olavide sent a through ball to Roberto Torres who was running in to the box from the left side. Torres did not hesitate, and struck the ball with his inside foot on his first touch and the ball went in under the goalkeeper!

Osasuna had came from behind and won the match. It looked like Bilbao would end Osasuna's unbeaten home streak, but with several controversial plays Osasuna took the lead. ESPN, Marca, AS, etc etc will have plenty to talk about this week.

Copa Del Rey - Round of 32 (1st Leg)
CA Osasuna (B-Team) 4 - 0 Sporting Gijon
OSA: Ferreiro 21' Ramirez 54' Alonso 76' Mesa 82'
After a series of poor performances Manuel Onwu has been dropped to the bench and David Ferreiro has finally been given the opportunity to start a match. Ferreiro immediately made the best of this opportunity and scored his first goal of the season as Julian Luque lobbed the ball over Gijon's back line allowing Ferreiro to run in one-on-one with the keeper. The first half ended 1-0, but Osasuna were in complete control of the match. Nine minutes into the second half Jose David Ramirez made it 2-0 after Julian Luque lobbed the ball over the back line again, completing his second assist of the match.

Osasuna stayed in control of the match and in the 76th minute Marcos Alonso made it reflect on the scoreline with an impressive goal from the edge of the box.

Just five minutes later Maikel Mesa made it 4-0, as Kenan Kodro played him through into the box and assisted his goal. A dominant result, with not much to play for in the second leg.

CA Osasuna Player of The Month

GK - Asier Riesgo (Spain) (75 OVR 33yrs) (+1)
Riesgo had an amazing month where he did not receive a single goal. Osasuna only received 3 goals this month, and all three were scored on the B-Team's Jose Antonio Rodriguez. With Rodriguez's impressive saves with the B-Team many thought this would be the season in which Riesgo is dropped to the B-Team, however the 33 year old has shown he's still got it and even continues to grow. Chavez has a lot of confidence in both his goalkeepers, making the net the most secured area of Osasuna's game.

Alex Silva Gavan - RM (Spain) (59-63, 74-80): The 17 year old has decided to settle in at RM and is considered an attacker. With a 6'0" height he's a good fit pretty much anywhere on the field especially down the center, but he has decided he's most comfortable on the wing.

Chris Cropper - GK (United States) (49-53, 79-85): The third American goalkeeper to join the Youth Academy. At 16 years old he stands at 6'3" and his game is well balanced so far.

Chris Jamieson IV - GK (United States) (61-65, 78-84): Julian Rubin was the first American to join the academy, but now this 6'7" giant also from the United States has stolen the show as people are excited to see him between the sticks. At 16 years old he's looking like a solid candidate for a call up soon depending on how he shapes up with the U17s.

Eriq Lisch - GK (United States) (57-61, 88-94): The fourth and final American goalkeeper to join the academy. 16 years old, 6'1", and so far he looks like the most promising. From what we've seen of him with the U-17 he still needs to improve his positioning. Competition to be the first American to play for Osasuna is hot.

Eñaut Gabbiadini - CDM (Spain) (54-58, 72-78): The Spanish midfielder becomes the 2nd CDM in the academy, although at 15 years old he still has much to develop, including his height which is quite low for a CDM as he stands at 5'3".

Frost S. Napoles - CM (Spain) (55-59, 70-74): Technically Gifted has been the term used to describe the 17 year old midfielder from Spain, but we haven't seen enough of him with the U17 to say what his future holds.

*Ivan Miranda - ? (Spain) (50-64, 71-91): The 15 year old is still being evaluated by the youth staff, but so far he's been most inclined to play as a LW, ST, and RW. If he decides to play down the middle, he'll need to stretch a little as he is currently only 5'2".

Joyce Barber - RM (Spain) (58-62, 71-75): By reading his name one might assume the player is from the United Kingdom, but in fact he is a Spaniard. At least, he was born in Spain. Barber is only 5'4" but he has proven to be a playmaker from the wing even at 15 years of age.

Julian Rubin - GK (United States) (58-62, 73-77): Julian becomes the first player from the United States to join the Osasuna youth academy, and if he develops well enough he could even become the first ever American player to wear Osasuna's colors. The 16 year old goalkeeper could make history, but first he must show his class in the youth levels.

Luis Martinez - CM (Spain) (53-57, 87-93): I'm really glad he decided to settle in as a CM and not CB. Really looking forward to see how he grows in May. At only 15 years of age he still has much to grow as far as height though as he stands at 5'1".

Mario Santana - ST (Mexico) (48-54, 81-91): Really excited to see future reports on this kid from Mexico. He's described as "Physically Strong" and you know how much I like to play with a target man. The downside is that he's only 5'3", but he's still 15 years old so I'm hoping he'll grow closer to the 6 foot range.

Roussillon Murnane - ST (Spain) (57-61, 71-75): The 5'9" 17-year old from Spain has shown the characteristics of a winger as he tends to drift wide from the center.

Mexico Turns To Look At Osasuna
It's been a little more than 2 years since Chavez came to Spain to manage Osasuna. After settling in he brought Guadalajara youth graduates Jose David Ramirez and Jose Antonio Rodriguez to Europe, as well as promoting youth scouting in Mexico. Osasuna have done a fine job in developing these players and now Jose Antonio Rodriguez has received his first call up to the senior Mexico national team, a dream come true for the young goalkeeper who has been a key player for the Mexican national team at youth levels. Not only that, but in the final days of November the Mexican national team have also offered Chavez a position as head coach. Chavez has been quick to reject offers from Denmark, Peru, Australia, and even BPL side Arsenal, but this is the first one that Chavez hasn't replied to right away.

Conclusion
I think the 4-4-1-1 has to go. I didn't like how it was working with Palacios-Guillermo anymore, and Guillermo-Kodro didn't work out either. The 4-3-3 Holding worked brilliantly against Athletic Bilbao, so I might give that another go. As for the Mexico offer, I don't know yet. I did say I wanted to manage Mexico in this career, but I hate the squad update that I have on this career. So much has changed since I started the career and not just in Mexico. New high potential players have been added, players have had their overall/potential raised, EA finally gave players their right position in game, etc etc. So, I might accept it, but I'm hesitant since I'm sure I'm not gonna like what I find on the squad selection menu.

Anyway, that's it for this month! I couldn't help it so I've been playing ahead :0 I just need to type it up and hope to have it up soon.

The former Alavés central defender has joined to bolster our defence with a lack of CBs due to Miquel and Llorente completing their loans and Mario along with Rubén moving on last January. A solid defence is the first step to surviving relegation and Victor is here to try and do that for us.

One defender that has potential is 24 year old Pedro Bigas who transferred in from Mallorca in January. He is expected to partner fellow arrival Laguardia in defence.

The third and final pre-contract arrival was striker Ángel. The small Spaniard is quick and knows how to find the back of the net. Exactly what we need to be able to do against the big boys. Past La Liga experience is also an added bonus.

I wanted a younger CDM to replace Dorca and that's what I got in Alves. The 22 year old Portuguese midfielder is tall and strong while also comfortable with the ball at his feet. Hopefully he can anchor down the midfield against tough La Liga opposition this season. He has appeared for all the Under Age Portugal sides up to U-20.

Juventus on Season Loan

The club needed a third striker in case of injury to either Ángel or Suárez. The backup arrived in the form of highly rated Juventus man Sergio Buenacasa. The young 6'0" man is good in the air while also inside the area. He has a knack for penalties also to go along with his alright pace. He was actually born right here in Zaragoza and was part of the Youth setup before moving to Barca's Academy and eventually making his way to Juventus.

Elche CF for €500.000

Brought in as cover for CDM, Guilló can also play in central midfield, in the middle of defence or at left full back. He is a very versatile player and will no doubt be needed as the season goes on.

Lucas Gafarot - LB, 65 Ovr, 20yrs, Spain
Barcelona B for €900.000

Keane wanted a strong left back to be back up for Rico as Nieto just didn't quite cut it. That arrived in young Barca B fullback Lucas Gafarot. The attacking defender can also play on the right side of defence so is cover for that position too. That and his higher potential was the deciding factor between him and Betis fullback Varela for whom a €900k deal had also been reached.

This game saw the debuts of Laguardia, Bigas, Ricardo Alves and Ángel. They blew us away in the first half thanks to braces from Maxim and Ginczek. Ángel did however manage to get a debut goal and we controlled them better in the second half. Pedro even hit the post with a header in the 80th minute. There are definitely things to work on and I will experiment with different formations in our tour of France with games against Bordeaux and Lyon coming up.

The B team had a poor start in Europe and then there was a tough 1-0 win against Levante. Good to sew Camarasa score against his old club. He was actually one of my transfer target but they wanted too much. Guillermo looked to have had a good game against Celta. I thought then that the 4-4-1-1 with Kodro and Guillermo would work but it seems I was wrong. Then there was a boring derby followed by an exciting derby! So close to losing that home record but thanks to Torres and 2 penalties you didn't. Good to see Ruiz de Galarreta score!

Nice to see that you are in 3rd! Good work. The academy is looking really good but so many keepers! I think that you should take the Mexico job man, I really do.

I forgot to mention that I've had a lot of international offers from the likes of Finland, Austria, Egypt, South Africa and Paraguay. I think that the Egypt, South Africa and Paraguay ones are still available. I'm not sure if I want to take one or not. I was thinking of just taking one before a tournament and then resigning afterwards. The next tournament would probably be 2015 Copa America if I could get a South American team. Then it'll be the Euros. What do you guys think? Would you like me to take any of the 3 (Egypt, South Africa, Paraguay) or do the tournament thing. Up to you guys.

The club needed a third striker in case of injury to either Ángel or Suárez. The backup arrived in the form of highly rated Juventus man Sergio Buenacasa. The young 6'0" man is good in the air while also inside the area. He has a knack for penalties also to go along with his alright pace. He was actually born right here in Zaragoza and was part of the Youth setup before moving to Barca's Academy and eventually making his way to Juventus.

Brought in as cover for CDM, Guilló can also play in central midfield, in the middle of defence or at left full back. He is a very versatile player and will no doubt be needed as the season goes on.

It wasn't a great budget to be honest although I think I did fairly well with the pre-contracts alongside some fairly cheap buys. Abraham also got a good fee and freed up a lot of wages so that helped. I'm aiming for a low mid table finish.

Medunjanin found Keko on the right side of the box and he used his first touch to get around the defender and then blast a shot past the keeper to the far post. Castro took the ball from Medunjanin as he failed to clear it and sent it ahead directly to Canales for an easy finish. Urreta played it to Iglesias at the top of the box and he slid it over to Medunjanin running towards the left side of the goal for a well placed finish to the far post. Urreta got ahead of the defense down the left wing and sent a low cross into the box that found De Tomas on the back post for a tap in to extend the lead. Gutierrez crossed the ball to Castro in the box who was able to head it back down onto the ground for Gutierrez to pick it back up and slot it home. After a questionable penalty call against Juan Dominguez, Prieto converted from the spot to even it up late in the match. Costa fed the ball to Medunjanin on the counter and he found Barral to the right side of the goal who took a touch inside before hitting it to the bottom left corner for the deciding goal.

Bergantiños played it to De Tomas at the top of the box and he used a quick touch to get around his defender and move left before hitting the ball back across the goal into the top right corner. Lekven hit a ball over the top from about 40 yards out and the keeper missed the ball as he came out to claim it from the striker and it bounced over everyone and settled in the back of the net. Medunjanin settled a loose ball at the top of the box and moved the ball to his left foot to fire a shot off the post that Ekiza was able to track down and tap in to give the final score.

Sporting Gijon dominated the match from early on. Ndi hit off the crossbar in the 18th minute, and German Lux was forced to make save after save for the remainder of the match to keeper Gijon off the board. Deportivo in a display of offensive ineptitude failed to register even 1 shot on goal all match.

Barral played the ball to De Tomas outside of the box and he quickly found Urreta running free towards the left side of the goal for a first time strike into the right side of the goal to secure Deportivo advancing to the group stages.

Castro made a back post run marked by Aquino, but Aquino got to the ball first and slid to clear it. His clearance ended up hitting straight off of Castro and back forward for him to continue his run and slot it home for the winner.

Deportivo La Coruña Player of the Month

Luisinho

Luisinho displayed his range of skills this month with his defending, crossing, dribbling, and even goal scoring all being showcased. He locked down the left side of the field and hassled opponents defensively, and then turned it around and made them work when he moved forward. He even added a goal with a well timed run and header against Getafe.

Manager Comments

Academy Update - We have added three Mexican players as a result of our short trip to North America. Humberto Sanchez, Jorge Asenjo, and Pablo Mosquero will be looking to work their way into the senior team after making the move to Spain. We have now sent our scout on a short trip to Argetina to hopefully continue to strengthen our youth system.

Group Stages - We beat Esbjberg to advance to the group stages of the Europa League. This gives us the opportunity to take on some of the best competition in Europe in all of the other leagues. We held our own in Spain lats season, but this is an entirely new challenge. With Everton, PSV, and FK Austrie Wien in our group, it will be tough to advance. We are looking forward to proving what we are capable of.

League Start - Opening month saw every result possible with 1 win, 1 draw, and 1 loss. Still an entire season left to play and anything can happen. I am happy with how we look so far though. Defense could get better, but there was definitely improvements as the month went on.

Summer 2014: Transfer Targets

A quick assessment of my squad has shown that I have far more central midfielders than I can ever hope to use in a 4-2-3-1; players who would bring in good money and could be replaced for cheap; a shortage of central defenders who can dominate games for 90 minutes; a few players of poor quality but on big money who must be replaced right away; and plenty of Italian and Italian-heritage players. With a few signings who can help the first team right away, we could qualify for the Europa League just as the board has asked me to do. Ideally, I need one centre back and one attacking midfield player. Sergio Romero needs to be moved on, and Eder will get time to prove himself.

Defensive target #1

A colossal Dane from Hoffenheim, Jannick Vestergaard is our primary target during the summer due to several factors. He's extremely tall and incredibly strong, and what he lacks in athleticism, he makes up for with fantastic defensive ability and mental conditioning. Vestergaard has an overall rating of 73 with fairly decent potential in the upper 70s, which means we'll have to part with upwards of £5,000,000 for him.

Defensive target #2

Should we get priced out of a deal for Vestergaard, we'll fall back on Winston Reid of West Ham. Reid has athleticism to match his physicality and defensive nous, and I've used him before to good effect despite many other people on this board finding him to be below par. With just a year left on his contract, he should be available at a more reasonable cost of £3,500,000 million... and even a bit cheaper if we negotiate well.

Defensive target #3

And if Reid chooses to throw a fit over wages as some Premier League players have been known to do, we will chase Rhys Williams of Middlesbrough. I was impressed by this kid during my time with Sheffield Wednesday. He's quick and strong, which nicely complements his ability to distribute the ball well. Williams can also be an emergency holding midfielder, or even transition permanently to a midfield role in the future. He should cost no more than £4,000,000 plus a modest wage packet.

Attacking target #1

Sometimes, big clubs will sign a player only because he plays consistently well against them. Such is the case with Chelsea and Mohamed Salah, who probably won't see too much game time this season as a backup player. Luckily for us, I know for a fact that he can be had on loan for nothing more than his wages: £60,000 per week. The move would give us time to bring in a permanent signing, perhaps even on a free transfer.

Attacking target #2

Gary Mackay-Steven is a name many of you are familiar with, either because you've used this criminally underrated midfielder yourself or because you remember how he scored and assisted 30 goals in my third season with Wednesday. He brings to the table the sort of pace and ball control you associate with a high-calibre player like Messi or Robben, plus he has two excellent feet and great vision. He's at the fag end of his current contract, so he could be had for somewhere around £2,500,000.

Attacking target #3

Charis Mavrias is wasting his time at Sunderland, a club that's constantly avoiding relegation... and he doesn't even get to play! Initial inquiries into this quick, agile, forward-thinking dribbler have yielded a price of approximately £5,000,000. If we can afford his transfer fee and wages, Mavrias would be a fantastic and versatile signing who can stay at Sampdoria for as long as a decade.

Goalkeeping target #1

I'm not sure Hoffenheim know just what they have on their hands, because they seem ready to part with Koen Casteels for less than £2,000,000, while Sergio Romero has been valued at £1,500,000. The starting goalkeeper for Belgium U21 is a tall beast with incredible diving and reflexes, so if we can include Sergio Romero as part of a deal to bring him down to Genoa, I'm going to make the move this window itself.

Keano - March: Great performance this month almost taking every point possible. The draw against Recreativo was the only slip, but you still got a point from it. The league is an insanely tight race right now.

April: Exactly the same as last month with winning all but 1 match and that one being a draw. You started to get some separation at the top of the league though, but it can still go any way.

May: Wow, what a finish. 2 losses almost threw the league title away, but you held out and won on goal differential. Fantastic season! It was nice to not see you run away with the league. You won it, but you had to fight for it. I can't wait to see how La Liga goes!

Preseason: Some thrifty signings you brought in. I'm interested to see how Angel does for you, I had my eye on him before ultimately going with David Barral on a pre-contract. He did well for you in the pre-season, I hope it translates into league play.

Simppu - October was a solid month, although it was interesting to see you getting it done with some different players. As you mentioned, it was odd to not see Kalou's name all over the place like usual. If he gets back into form and the rest maintain what they are currently doing then you could potentially start to run away with it.

Cruzerr - Surprised that Port Vale stretched you so far in that Capital One Cup match, but glad you are moving on in the end. The rest of the month was solid all around. 5th in the table with a game in hand that could potentially move you to first is a hell of a position to be in. Lots of matches left to play obviously, but keep taking care of business!

Moose - I voted Ox's first goal where he came down the right side and cut it in on the baseline as goal of the season. Was an impressive combination of skills to get you there, and the move before the finish was top class.

Chico - Shame to see the B-team let you down in the Europa League match, but you are still at the top of the table in your group. Great job in league play though! And I love to see you beating Celta Vigo

Absolute beat down of Gijon in leg 1 of the Copa Del Rey. Side note, how the hell could you play that game with both teams in red jerseys???

Indi - Some solid targets you are going to go after. Vestergaard looks like a very impressive prospect, strong as a bull, and could really be a threat on set pieces for you. Hopefully you are able to secure a deal for him. Salah would be a big time loan deal, and his wages are pretty big, but if you can afford it then he can be very important for you. Mackay-Steven is a player you are familiar with so you couldn't go wrong there either. Casteels looks like a great player to hold down your keeper position for years to come, don't expect there to be any trouble making this deal happen.

@Tex Absolutely excited to be diving back into a career mode. Hunting down new names is a big part of the fun, though it's always comforting to fall back on one or two players you might have used before. I think I should be able to pick up a couple of good players this window, though my eventual goal is to sign Paulo Dybala and Domenico Berardi to play alongside Manolo Gabbiadini in the trident behind a complete striker.

Hertha BSC were finally able to defeat a bottom three team! Even better, they didn't have any trouble doing so. The triumph started only 12 minutes into the game when Valentin Stocker finished a counter attack with a nicely placed shot. There weren't any more goals in the first half but Salomon Kalou found his form again during the second half. He scored his first goal at the hour mark when he tapped in a low cross played by Andre Hahn. Ten minutes after that Kalou finished a nice passing move. Only eight minutes later the Ivorian completed his hattrick from the penalty spot but that wasn't enough for him. The top goal scorer of the league finished a fourth goal under ten minutes later with an outside of the boot shot from the edge of the box. There was some drama in stoppage time when Thomas Kraft lost the ball to Nürnberg's striker. John Anthony Brooks reacted quickly and prevented the goal by breaking the striker's legs from behind. The defender got sent off and a penalty was rewarded but Kraft managed to save it!

Another very good performace from Hertha BSC in the Europa League which secured their place in the knockout stages. The atmosphere was wonderful at the Olympiastadion as the team managed to score five goals in second consecutive game. The Europa League hitman Josip Drmic opened the scoreline from a corner and twenty minutes later Andre Hahn got into the box and shot the ball into the top left corner with his right foot. Right before half time Valentin Stocker cut in from the right wing and played a low cross into the box which was finished into the top net by Änis Ben-Hatira. Right after the hour mark in the second half Josip Drmic got a brace from a counter attack. Five minutes before the end Kilmarnock got one back after about ten passes in the box. That wasn't the last goal of the game, though. Timo Werner started a counter attack and he passed the ball to Leroy Sane at the edge of the box. Sane then chipped the ball into the box where a defender took it down. Werner somehow managed to hit the ball into the net with a diving header.

This game against mister Cruzerr's ex-team was a surprisingly even one. Stuttgart managed to take the lead in the 22nd minute when Didavi curled in a free kick. Fifteen minutes later Valentin Stocker dribbled inside the box, waiting for support. He then layed the ball off to Kalou who shot it into the top right corner. About five minutes later the Ivorian got a brace from a... well, it's hard to describe what happened. Take a look:

FC Schalke 04 0 - 0 Hertha BSC

Controversial, full of fouls and defensive minded. Those words describe this match between Schaisse 04 and Hertha BSC. The first bit of controversy was seen in the first ten minutes. A penalty was rewarded for Schaisse because of Baba's foul on Huntelaar:

Was this a foul? Maybe, it depends on the referee because in fact Baba did pull Huntelaar back. Was this a penalty? Never. The biggest foul that happens inside the box is that Baba slightly touches Huntelaar's butt. Luckily Klaas-Jan Huntelaar hit the post from the penalty and Baba didn't get sent off. Two defenders were amazing today: John Anthony Brooks and Kaan Ayhan. Both of them prevented a few goals. Also, Timo Werner sprained his ankle and he'll miss three weeks of action.

Hertha BSC 2 - 0 Eintracht Frankfurt

The last game of the month saw Eintracht Frankfurt visit the mighty Olympiastadion. Hertha managed to beat them without too much effort. Salomon Kalou got the winner in the 27th minute from the penalty spot after he was taken down in the box. Five minutes after the beginning of the second half Valentin Stocker got the second goal of the match when he finished a counter attack with a beautifully placed shot into the bottom right corner.

The current holder of the Golden Boot showed why he won it last season after having a quiet month in October. This month he scored seven goals in four appearances which is just amazing. The Ivorian continues to grow as a player and he's almost irreplaceble for Hertha BSC.

Andre Hahn

Hahn has become an important piece of Hertha's attack in the past few months. He has assisted and scored some goals and his stamina combined with his speed make him a very dangerous player.

Valentin Stocker

The Swiss winger-converted-to-a-midfielder has been shining in the middle of the pitch during the eight months in which he has played there. Stocker is a good dribbler and his vision and passing skills make him a very good playmaker. He picked up a few goals in this month and a few assists, too.

Headlines

Salo-god Kalounaldo - Salomon Kalou is back. After scoring only two goals in October the main goal threat of the team showed that he was just suffering from a bit of poor form. Now he managed to find the back of the net incredible seven times in four games which means that he scored just under two goals on average.

Josip Dr-Europa-mic - The other big attacking name of the team is also enjoying a run of great form. The young Josip Drmic has scored in every Europa League game of the season and he's leading the goal chart with eight goals in four appearances.

League form - The Berliners had an unbeaten month in league play in November and they dropped only two points against defensive-minded Schalke 04. Hertha conceded only one goal in the league and they are leading the league by six points. Second-placed Leverkusen have a game in hand, though.

Werner's ankle - Timo Werner sprained his ankle after a bad challenge in the Schalke game and the young German talent will be out injured for three weeks. The injury is a big blow for Hertha but Werner's replacement Änis Ben-Hatira is also a talented and skillful player. He's not as good as Werner, though.

We dominated like expected however, didn't capitalise in the first half. In the second half we did with Rantie powering passed the League 2 defence to give us the lead. Four minutes later a tackle from Eardley gave him a free run down the wing to cross it into Gray who lepted high and headed into the near corner. Luton had players up and found Thomas in the middle of the ground and with a two on one too find Rantie who had the goalie to beat and did so getting us into the last four of the League Cup.

Gaspar: The team and I have really enjoyed this cup run. We have West Brom in the two legged tie and are extremely confident we can beat them. They sit lasted in the Premier League and we have proven a lot wrong in the position we are in.

Championship - Bloomfield Road, 6/12/14
Blackpool 0-0 Birmingham City

After 3 day turn around we played a weaker team and a more defensive team with CB David Edgar playing a different but not unknown CDM position. We had inform strikers in Thomas and Rantie up top but Blackpool had them covered and the game finished in a dull 0-0.

Gaspar: It's frustrating when a team plays for a draw, whats the point it's not how the games played... I know we played with a defensive team but we still created chances. They held the ball in the corner in the 90th when they could of created chances.

Championship - Hillsborough, 13/12/14
Sheffield Wednesday 2-2 Birmingham City

Gray with a deflection off the keeper saw him calmly score. We dominated the first half and the start of the second and that showed when a corner was whipped into Thomas from just inside the box and powerfully headered it home. We relaxed and with this saw Coke smash it into the back of the net after a deflexion off Randolph, our keeper, to give them a goal back. We tried to hold the lead but with 3 minutes left we gave away a free kick 40 yards out. A great ball saw Dutch winger Drenthe found free in the box and onside to header the ball to give the Shieffield team the point.

Gaspar: Very disappointed to lose a two goal lead. It's a mistake both the team and I made trying to rest on that lead. They have great attacking players and needed the points more than us. Credit to them.

Championship - St Andrew's 20/12/14
Birmingham 0-0 Derby County
(Hendrix (RC) 71')

Derby dominated and didn't show there league position in 14th and we held strong in defence until half time. After half time the game was even until subsitute Hendrix got a straight red for a bad tackle. We had the upper hand but couldn't capitalised. Giving us the second 0-0 of the month.

Gaspar: Meh performance, both teams had their half chances and times in the game but the teams were even on performance wise and I thought it was a fair result

Charlton Atheltic 0-1 Birmingham City

Rantie was found free in the box as he smashed it passed the Charlton keeper to give us the lead early on. We created chances throughout the game but didn't capitalise. Charlton had a few near chances at the end but we held on for our first win in 4 league games.

Gaspar: Happy for the win. Wasn't pretty but we got the job done. If we win against Middlebrough it should cap off a good month before the transfer window where we will be looking for players.

Rantie found a gap in the defence as he used his pace to score to give him his second goal in as many games and to give us the ideal start after we dominated the game. We continued to dominate and as we passed it out from the back where Eardley shanked his pass into Vossen path who shot it passed a standing and stunned Randolph to give them a goal back before half time. The game was fifty fifty in the second half as we drew for the 4th time in the month.

Gaspar: Disappointed that we lost 2 points with just one mistake but that's footy. We take this on the chin as we are in 9th now and are higher than expected.

Managers Thoughts

An undefeated month to end 2014. I'm content but not happy. This is due to the draws. We had 4 which isn't the best but will do. We kept 4 clean sheets and that's really good, however, our goals have dried up and thats a worry. January is here and we have scouts out searching for players. We have a busy month with 2 games for us nearly every week, The depth will be tested. We have signed Randolph, Spector, Arthur, Reilly and Packwood to extended contracts which is nice because I can see them being in my future plans. A make or break January, be positive Birmingham fans.

David Edgar

David Edgar was the main reason behind our muched improved defensive record with him becoming the experienced defender after Robinson was dropped out of the best 11 side. Edgar played every game this month and played as either as a center back or defensive midfielder. With Packwood they are looking to be the defensive partnership for the rest of the season, and if I do sign another defender I am very happy to put him as my CDM.

Guardado played Barral through on the right side of the box and he cut it towards the middle to fire a shot with his left foot off the keeper's hands and in for the winning goal.

The ball was played through to Guardado on the counter and he held off the defender on his back while attacking the right side of the goal to blast a shot past the keeper into the top netting. Insua played a bad pass straight to Manucho and he attacked the left side before sending a low cross in for Bueno to tap in.

Albacar lined up a free kick from the top right side of the box and hit it expertly over the wall curling away from the keeper into the top right corner. De Tomas was brought down in the box while attacking the goal with the ball and he converted the penalty into the top right corner just past the diving keeper.

Parejo made it 3-0 after he knocked home the rebound from Sahin hitting the crossbar with his attempt. Valeron sent in a corner and Costa was able to get his head on it and direct it to the top right corner to put Deportivo on the board. Costa brought down a ball that was played over the top to the left side of the box and he cut it inside before playing it to De Tomas on the right side for a powerful strike inside the right post to cut the lead to 1.

Deportivo La Coruña Player of the Month

Andres Guardado

Andres Guardado was fantastic this moth proving why the manager brought him in for this season to replace Haris Medunjanin. He earned two man of the match honors, added two assists, and put in a goal.

Manager Comments

League Form - League play was up and down this month, but we were able to stay up in 7th looking to challenge for those European spots this season. We are getting better though, and I am excited about the potential of this season.

Academy Update - No new movement in the academy this month, but a few players have started to really separate themselves as future stars. Bruno Carmona and Jorge Asenjo as two players who the future could be huge for. The supporters have begun to notice them and hope to see both in the blue and white for a long time to come.

European Play - Our first match of group stages saw us head to England and come from behind to take 3 points from Everton. This was a huge win to put us at the top of the group, but with 5 matches left to play we have to be sure to take care of business in our own stadium as well.

Injuries - Two key players went down with injuries towards the end of the month. Guardado will miss 3 weeks and Urreta will miss 4. Each have been key players for us this season so far, and we hope they they make quick recoveries to get back out there to help us.
