Hertha basically needed to win this game if they wanted to challenge for a place in the round of 16. After dramatic 90 minutes that's exactly what they were able to do. Things didn't look good for the Berliners as Nelson Oliveira's header put Headfica - I mean Benfica- in the lead. Hertha then started pushing all of their players forwards and only Julio Cesar's amazing saves kept them away from the equaliser. Finally after the hour mark a through ball found Hakan Calhanoglu in the net who just curled it into the bottom right corner with his second touch. The home team started pulling players in defence but that wasn't enough to keep Hertha away from the goal. Pass, pass, pass, pass to Drmic in the box... and he shot it into the bottom right corner! The winning goal! Hertha were back in the race for the second place in the group!

A tired Hertha Berlin side wasn't enough to beat second in the league Bayern München. The Bavarians outclassed their opponents in every aspect of the game and Hertha had only one shot in the game. Surprisingly both of the goals were scored by holding midfielders. First Sebastian Rode scored before the half an hour mark from a shot that Ron-Robert Zieler parried -oh, by the way, he got substituted after that mistake- and almost an hour later Zlatko Junuzovic finished the second one from a counter attack. With this loss Hertha lost their lead in the league.

There were only two days separating this game from Hertha's game against Basel in the Champions which meant that Hertha fielded their second team. That lead to a game that was controlled by Köln and in which Hertha had only three shots. Luckily John Anthony Brooks got his head to Hakan Calhanoglu's corner in the 32nd minute to score the winner.

This very important win could've secured Hertha's place in the round of 16 but in the other game of the group Benfica were somehow able to beat Real Madrid. Hertha showed lots of quality in their match against Basel and their first goal was nicely created. There were a lot of passes around the box before Salomon Kalou played the ball to Maximilian Arnold who just shot it into the bottom right corner. The lead lasted under ten minutes as Basel's Gashi cut in from the right flank and curled a near-posted shot past Ron-Robert Zieler. The game then calmed down but in the 45th minute a penalty wasn't awarded for a clear foul on Valentin Stocker. Is this not a foul??

Luckily in the62nd minute Salomon Kalou was played through on goal from a counter attack and the Ivorian just curled the ball around Vaclic in goal. Like mentioned earlier Benfica beat Real Madrid and Hertha's last game against Real will decide the team that joins the Whites in the round of 16.

What an exciting game this was. Both teams attacked a lot and five goals were scored on the pitch of the pretty full Olympiastadion. The Berliners got the lead in the 35th minute when Heung-Min Son cut in from the right wing and shot the ball straight at Diego Benaglio who somehow failed to save the shot. Only five minutes later Salomon Kalou doubled the lead from a counter attack but another five minutes later Daniel Caligiuri pulled one back with a shot that went through Kapino's legs in goal. Twenty minutes into the second half Ivan Perisic controlled a good long pass with his chest before shooting the ball into the bottom right corner. In the 76th minute Hakan Calhanoglu and Heung-Min Son combined well as Son got his brace with a shot from outside the box that bounced into the net off the post.


Player of the Month

No one

Seriously, this was a real up and down month. None of the attackers were consistent, none of the midfielders impressed me and none of the defenders made amazing clearances, interceptions or tackles. Speaking of great defenders, I miss Kaan Ayhan and Marquinhos from Hellas Verona. They are the best defensive duo I've used.

The young Korean attacker had a couple of good performances in November. He got a brace against Wolfsburg and he picked two assists in the other games.

Ron-Robert Zieler

The German keeper of the team is still hugely underperforming for the Berliners. He parries way too many weak shots, he lets in very easy goals in almost every game he plays and he even got substituted off the field against Bayern.




Stefanos Kapino

The other keeper of the team also performed badly in November. He wasn't as poor as Zieler but he also made some mistakes and let in easy goals. Hertha seriously need new keepers.




Valentin Stocker

It's official, Valentin Stocker has hit the bottom. After three terrible months in the beginning of the season, which followed the amazing 2015-16 campaign he had, he has been dropped out of the starting eleven. Only four assists in four months weren't good enough statistics for Stocker who was replaced by Timo Werner. The Swiss attacking midfielder could be on his way out in January.

Headlines

Top of the Table -There have been three points max separating the top two of the Bundesliga for the whole season and for the last two months Hertha have gotten the upper hand in the title race. Even though Bayern beat the Berliners and became the leaders they lost only two weeks later and dropped back to second. If both teams keep playing like they have this season will be the most interesting season in recent years.

Keeper Problems - It has been clear for a while now that Hertha have some serious problems with their goalkeepers. Ron-Robert Zieler has been the biggest flop signing for Hertha and the other candidate Stefanos Kapino hasn't played that well in many of the recent games. The keepers are getting rotated but that hasn't fixed anything. It's still unsure who is the starting keeper of Hertha.


By the way, where's Rabbit? He appeared a while ago to mention that he won't be able to post the end of season updates but I haven't heard anything from him since that.

A great passing move led to an early first goal. Ings played it to Sigurdsson and continued his run. Sigurdsson shifted it across to Centurion who played it first time back to Ings. He hit it straight past Akinfeev in the United goal. Just after 30 minutes the ref called a terrible penalty against Kramer. He said that he pushed Mata over when they were both just jumping for the header from a corner. Van Persie put it away comfortably. There was an instant response as Caulker headed in a Sigurdsson corner. We controlled the ball 59% to 41%.

The B Team was given a chance to play and I was slightly disappointed with the result. Berahino missed several chances up front, the most important one being an easy chance for the winner in the last minute. Mbombo opened the scoring after the half hour mark running onto a ball over the top before chipping Doyle. Shelvey dribbled into the box 5 minutes later and struck the post. Then O'Connor scored his first European goal on the stroke of halftime. Berahino slipped him in and he slid it under Thuram. Watt missed a chance for the Belgians and then Berahino had an effort saved. Berahino then broke into the box and as he tried to slide it across to Shelvey, Milec slid in and put it into his own net. Watt equalized soon after with a scuffed shot that deceived Doyle. Richards had his shot saved from inside the area and then Berahino missed his chance to become a hero. I think Donnelly/Ings will start next time with the B Team.....

We controlled the ball and probably had the better chances. Krul played very well pulling off 5 saves and our own Scuffet made 4 saves himself. The first chance of the game fell to Kramer but Krul saved his weak shot comfortably. Muniaín then headed a Sigurdsson free kick wide after climbing above Anita. The Frenchman Rivière put the Magpies in front after Haïdara's ball found Obertan's run behind the defence. He played it across to Rivière who got in front of Bernat to put it away. Ings had his powerful shot saved after cutting inside to end the half. Sigurdsson played Delph into the right channel and then he cut inside having his shot blocked by a combination of Taylor and Anita. Fortunately it fell straight back into Delph's path for him to sweep it home with his right foot. Sigurdsson missed a chance to put us in front and then Scuffet prevented Rivière from doing the same. Krul saved another Ings attempt before Kongolo clipped Ilicic inside the area. Thankfully Cabella struck the post with the penalty and it was cleared.

The second match in a row against the same opponents at the same ground within 3 days. The only difference was we kept them from scoring. We made 2 changes with Anderson coming in for Muniaín and Shelvey coming in for Sigurdsson. This time around the possession was much more even and Newcastle played much better than us. Anderson forced Krul into his only save of the game inside 8 minutes. Scuffet then saved a powerful Ilicic shot from close range. Shelvey would get the first and ultimately only goal of the game in the 35th minute. MOTM Centurion cut in from the right into the box. He then curled a perfectly weighted ball around the backs of Taylor and Janmaat, who were on the edge of the six yard box, into Shelvey who tapped it past Krul. Ilicic then headed a deflected cross just inches over the crossbar. In the second half Sissoko had a great chance from a corner but he also headed over. Delph could have wrapped if up with 3 minutes to go when he played a one-two with Ings but his effort went within centimetres of the right post.

An Ings brace secured us 3 points against Moose's Hammers today. The first came after young Redmond, who was been given a chance by Keano, broke down the right hand side past Aaron Cresswell. He cut inside and pulled the ball back towards in form Danny Ings. The Englishman took a touch out of his feet and slotted it home. It wasn't a very eventful game and Ings got a second when he stole the ball off Van Dijk inside the area. Adrián passed it to the centre half when he really shouldn't have and that allowed Ings to nip in, taking the ball, and grab his brace. He has been playing well in Benteke's absence.

MotM: Felipe Anderson

Brazilian Felipe Anderson is finally starting to show why he was bought last season with his MOTM display tonight and in Hus recent performances. Another player that showed his quality was Saido Berahino with his brace. The game was over by halftime and Anderson opened the scoring in the 20th minute. Derek O'Connor, a youth player who has really impressed since being promoted, chipped the ball over the defence for Anderson. The little Brazilian held off Longridge and dribbled into the box. Just as he got inside he put the ball into the right bottom with his side foot. 7 minutes later Anderson played Berahino in behind the Scottish side's defence. He outpaced Devlin to the ball and then finished it beautifully across McGovern and into the far, right corner. McGovern made several more saves from Anderson, O'Connor and Randall before Berahino made it 3-0 going into the break. Anderson played a one-two with Berahino to get in on goal. McGovern saved the winger's shot but Berahino was there to get it into the net with a diving header. Berahino had the chance of a hat trick in the second half but sent his shot wide. As did Daniel Redmond with one of Hamilton's few chances. This was mostly down to McManus having a great game at the back along with Koulibaly and both fullbacks, Bertrand and Richards.


Nathan Redmond will be out of action for 4 weeks due a sprained knee he picked up against Hamilton.

Swansea City Player of the Month



Adrián Centurion - RM, 76 Ovr, 24, Argentina

The speedy Argentine winger was a constant threat in all the games he played in and notched up 2 assists to go along with his 2 MOTM awards. He was a nightmare for all left backs he faced and really gives us a great counter attacking threat with his pace.

Completely outclassed. It was 1-1 at halftime thanks to poor defending allowing Cerci to control a ball over the top and fire a good finish into the top corner. Hendrick equalized curling in from the edge of the box. Immobile ran unmarked into the area to control a free kick and take the lead. Balotelli held off Clark running onto a through ball before making it 3-1. Wilson then lost his cool and slid in from behind Immobile earning a red card. Immobile completed the route tapping an El Shaarawy ball across the box. It was actually a pretty even game but they had the players to punish us.

I don't even want to write about the match that's how sickened I am. A hat trick from the man once labeled the new Drogba destroyed our World Cup hopes.

Keane Resigns

Republic of Ireland manager Paddy Keane has stepped away from his duties with the national side with immediate effect. His reason is that he is disappointed at not making the last two major tournaments after coming so close on both occasions. He says that he wants to take a break from the international scene and focus on his commitments with Swansea City in their bid to secure a top four finish. He also wants to battle for Europa League glory. He said in his recent statement that he would like to return to international management sometime in the long term future.

Manager Thoughts
It was a good month with Swansea. It started well with a victory against United. A couple of draws them which were not what we wanted but at least they weren't losses. Then we ended the month with 3 wins and 3 clean sheets which I am really pleased about. Anderson and Ings have started playing really well and Redmond had come into form before his injury. The 2 games with Ireland were not nice to watch. I resigned because I wanted to concentrate on Swansea and we didn't get to the World Cup.

On 2 days rest we'll have to face Southampton who are no pushovers. Another 2 days rest to prepare for the Round of 16 against Bolton where our B Team will most likely play. What is with the 2 days rest?!?! We then have to host Liverpool in out last game of the month. So we are targeting all wins and a draw with Liverpool. I would take a draw against Southampton but really we want to be winning these games against teams on a similar level.

A couple of poor-ish results (mainly against Newcastle and Liege) but overall a good month. The win against Man United looked good. Your strikers have been in pretty good form lately. It's a shame that you didn't qualify to the World Cup and that you resigned but that's probably what I would've done, too.

May 2017 - Season 3

Getafe CF 2 - 0 CA Osasuna
GET: Stepanenko 84' Alvaro 90'
Osasuna may have their head in the sky with their upcoming Europa League Final fixture, but Getafe pulled them back down to Earth with an assertive win. Getafe were clearly the better side, controlling possession and out shooting Osasuna. Getafe finished the match with 55% possession, making Osasuna's midfield obsolete and easily crowding the box to find an option to score. The home side recorded 9 shots on goal with 6 of them on target. Osasuna were poor everywhere, losing the possession battle but also failing to produce in attack. Osasuna had only 3 shots on goal in the entire 90 minutes, with none of them being on target. Chavez handed the youth graduate Luis Martinez his professional debut, but in these circumstances his performance was shadowed by the team's overall terrible match. Osasuna's back line was at least playing a solid match, up until Getafe's Stepanenko scored an incredible free kick at the 84th minute. After the goal Chavez decided to go all out attack, risking everything for the equalizer. It would prove to be a costly decision, as Getafe launched a counter attack in the 90th minute that lead to Alvaro making it 2-0 for the home side. All around a horrible result for Osasuna, who just a few weeks ago were challenging Barcelona for the league title.

CA Osasuna 1 - 2 Real Madrid

With the Europa League final just three days away, Chavez decided to rotate a few players in the squad in order to make sure most of his starting eleven are at their 100% for the crucial match against Zenit. Marcos Alonso, Ivan, Luis Martinez, and Davila started the match for Sisi, Romeu, Darder, and Palacios respectively. One of Osasuna's best aspects the first time they faced Real Madrid was the extraordinary work from their full backs Sisi and Romeu, the latter making Ronaldo look real bad the entire match. This time around neither Sisi nor Romeu were on the field, and Madrid attacked heavily down the wings with Ronaldo and Bale. Cristiano, the league's top scorer, dribbled past Ivan in the 45th minute to then cut inside and strike the ball past Riesgo and put Madrid in the lead. During the second half Chavez realized Madrid were attacking with too much ease, and tried subbing in Vinuesa Ramos to take control of midfield again. The move backfired, as it was Vinuesa Ramos who committed a foul on the edge of the box that ultimately lead to Cristiano Ronaldo completing his brace with a spectacular free kick. It looked all over for Osasuna, but second half sub Federico Palacios brought life back to his team with a powerful shot after running into the box.

Palacios was playing as a RM to give Torres time to rest for the upcoming match, and he used his speed effectively down the wing. Now things really became interesting as Osasuna pushed forward to stage a comeback in front of their home fans. Real Madrid defended with their lives, which was surprising to see since on paper they are on a completely different level than Osasuna, but the three points could mean a league title for them if Barcelona lost their match. A league title took priority for Madrid and they pushed back to defend the lead. In the 90th minute, the very last play of the match, Osasuna had the equalizer in their hands. Isma Lopez had beat Marcelo off the ball and dribbled into the box. Instead of taking his shot on goal, he doubted himself in front of Casillas and instead passed the ball to the El Sadar debutant Luis Martinez, who only had to send the ball into the open net but he missed it!

He missed it! With the stadium already cheering the goal Luis Martinez missed the open net. The 16 year old had the chance to become a hero but his weak foot said no. Osasuna have finished their season with 2 defeats at El Sadar, and only 5 points in their last 5 league matches.

Europa League - Final
CA Osasuna vs Zenit
The biggest match for Chavez since joining Osasuna. There is no tomorrow, and if things go the way they want them to Osasuna could have the honor of having a European cup as their first ever professional trophy. They are nowhere near favorites though, with Zenit being one of the best clubs from Russia and a solid competitor in Europe. Not to mention Osasuna's recent poor run of form in the league.

They have done it! Osasuna are the Europa League 2016/2017 Champions in front of a sold out Signal Iduna Park!! In a tightly contested match Los Rojillos were able to come out on top, with Raul Albentosa scoring the first goal of the match in the 49th minute. The first half had ended 0-0 with neither team showing enough to get in the lead. It wasn't until the second half that the score line was opened, with Osasuna's tall centre back heading the ball into the net off a corner kick from Roberto Torres.

Albentosa was marked by two players, but neither were able to match his strength in the physical battle. Just ten minutes later Zenit equalized the match after a series of blocked shots inside the box, and it was the Spaniard Javi Garcia who was able to finally strike it into the net. We had ourselves a final! The match continued very tense with neither team trying to risk too much. Then in the 78th minute, the referee made a game changing decision. Isma Lopez had played Guillermo through from the left wing and with his speed and strength Guillermo was able to get in front of his marker. The Zenit midfielder knew that he couldn't let Guillermo step into the box alone, and tried to hold him back by pulling on his shirt which led to Guillermo going down in the box. Osasuna's reliable penalty taker, Roberto Torres, had the composure to step up and take this crucial penalty, perhaps the most important of his career, powerfully strike the ball to the left while the keeper stayed in the center.

The goal now forced Zenit to go all out for the equalizer, and the Russians delivered. Zenit pushed forward with all they had and really threatened to equalize, with two shots hitting the post in the final ten minutes of the match, however they weren't able to get another ball past Asier Riesgo who was named MOTM with a total of 8 saves. Zenit had the most shots on goal in the match, with 11 shots on goal and 5 being on target. Osasuna were a lot more conserved, with only 3 shots in the match and 2 of them on target. The referee added five minutes of injury time, but the equalizer never came and the referee blew the final whistle. The Osasuna players did not hold back with their celebrations, as this was the club's first ever professional title!

Alex Garcia - CB (Mexico) (59-63, 80-86) (+14): The first and only CB in the academy, and with Miguel Flaño reaching the end of his era I am very anxious to see more reports on him. At 16 years old he stands at 6'2", and is considered Physically Strong. A perfect combination for a CB.

Alex Silva Gavan - RM (Spain) (63-67, 74-80) (+4): The 17 year old has decided to settle in at RM and is considered an attacker. With a 6'0" height he's a good fit pretty much anywhere on the field especially down the center, but he has decided he's most comfortable on the wing.

Chris Cropper - GK (United States) (62-66, 79-85) (+13): The third American goalkeeper to join the Youth Academy. At 17 years old he stands at 6'3" and his game is well balanced so far.

**Chris Jamieson IV - GK (United States) (62-66, 78-84) (+1): Player has decided to leave Osasuna's youth academy after not being promoted.

Eñaut Gabbiadini - CDM (Spain) (60-64, 72-78) (+6): The Spanish midfielder becomes the 2nd CDM in the academy, although at 15 years old he still has much to develop, including his height which is quite low for a CDM as he stands at 5'3".

Ivan Miranda - LW (Spain) (64-68, 81-87) (+6): The 16 year old has decided that the wing is where he is most comfortable with, and is a candidate for promotion in the future. He is quite short, standing at 5'9", but that isn't a problem since we will need him for speed not necessarily for his aerial ability.

Julian Rubin - GK (United States) (58-62, 73-77) (+0): Julian becomes the first player from the United States to join the Osasuna youth academy, and if he develops well enough he could even become the first ever American player to wear Osasuna's colors. The 16 year old goalkeeper could make history, but first he must show his class in the youth levels.

Mario Santana - ST (Mexico) (62-66, 83-89) (+13): Really excited to see future reports on this kid from Mexico. He's described as "Physically Strong" and you know how much I like to play with a target man. The downside is that he's only 5'3", but he's still 15 years old so I'm hoping he'll grow closer to the 6 foot range.
*Santana has just turned 16 and is now eligible to play in La Liga. I'm a bit disappointed that his height only grew to 5'10 as I really wanted a target man, but he is Physically Strong so he should be a good striker nonetheless.*

Pedro Ramirez - RB (Spain) (55-69, 73-91): Still young at 15 years old and still being evaluated. He is a pretty slow defender so he should be best suited as a CB, however his current height is 5'6". We're hoping he can stretch out a little by the time he turns 16.

Xabi Rodriguez - CAM (Mexico) (58-62, 75-81): He may not be the most athletic, but the 16 year old is considered a playmaker. Currently still being evaluated.

May Headlines

Osasuna Making History
Osasuna's finish in the league may not have been what they were expecting a few weeks ago when they were challenging Barcelona for the title, but the Osasuna players and staff still celebrated their league finish. Why? Because as three point difference left Osasuna in 4th place ahead of Valencia, becoming Osasuna's best ever league finish in the club's history. Fourth place doesn't only break that record though, it also qualifies them to the Champions League, a tournament which Osasuna have never participated in. The 2017/2018 season will be the first time Osasuna play in the UEFA Champions League among Europe's elite! A fantastic achievement for the club paired with their recent Europa League title. Chavez has broken 3 club records this season!

Camarasa Refuses To Sign Contract
Victor Camarasa (76 OVR) has been a crucial player for Osasuna since joining from Levante in Chavez's first season with the club, but he has now came out and said that he will not be signing a contract extension. It appears the midfielder would like to play elsewhere, even though Osasuna have just qualified to the Champions League. Camarasa still has 3 years remaining on his current contract, but he's hoping he can leave sooner. Osasuna's scouts are currently on standby awaiting Camarasa's final decision who feels he is underpaid, but doesn't seem to want to stay anyway.

No Time For Vacation
While the players celebrate, Chavez returns to his study as he prepares for the upcoming Confederations Cup where he will manage Mexico. This will be his first major test on the international stage with a side that frequently demands results. Mexico was drawn in Group A, which considered this year's group of death with the likes of Germany, Colombia and Ivory Coast. Group B consists of Argentina, Brazil, New Zealand, and Korea Republic. Fortunately for Chavez, no player will be missing opening day due to injury, however his final list still raised some questions as a couple top names were left out.


Conclusion
Remember when I was saying that I didn't want to win the title but if Barcelona slipped up I was taking it? Well it looks like it was I who slipped, but I'm not too bummed about it. 4th place, not bad eh? What did bum me out though was losing at home again. We can forget about February 27th now, and start counting again from the start of next season.

Next I will post a squad review along with the Osasuna Player of The Year, and also my top goal scorers of this career. The post after that will be the Confederations Cup Group Stage with Mexico along with the squad list.

I guess there's nothing else left to do than to buy a disc copy of the game. I wouldn't waste that kind of money just to use default squads, though. If I were you I would just adjust to updated squads.

Ultimately with almost the entire game gone by, Salvador chipped the ball up into the space vacated in the middle of the box by both center backs and Figueras was able to chest it down unmarked and then slot it between the keeper's legs for the winner.

In what will surely go down as one of the most controversial decisions of the competition, Jones was called for a foul on Guardado inside the box after appearing to have gotten to the ball first. De Tomas took advantage of the gift from the referee and converted to the top left corner to advance Deportivo through to the quarter finals.

Raul De Tomas


Raul De Tomas was solid in a month that saw a mixed bag of results for Deportivo. He led the way to create the highlight of the month, scoring twice against Manchester United including a 90th minute penalty to send Deportivo through to the quarter finals.

Manager Comments

Injuries - We lost both Guardado and Juan Dominguez to injuries against Rayo Vallecano in a disgusting lack of control all game long by the opposing team. This led us to head into the match against Lazio with a young and inexperienced midfield which really hurt us. Juan Dominguez will be back in time for the second leg, but Guardado will be missing 3 weeks. This season is becoming an injury plagued season for the Mexican midfielder.

League Table - We beat Real Madrid in a fantastic 1st vs 2nd match. However, we dropped two other games that we shouldn't have against Sevilla and Betis that cost us the spot at the top of the table. We remain just a point behind Real Madrid though, and we are focused on finishing the season strong.

Europa League - An exciting finish against Manchester United has us advancing through to the quarter finals. We drew Lazio, and due to injuries to our starting midfielders we dropped the first leg at home 1-0. We will have to regroup ourselves and head into the second leg with a new focus in order to earn a place in the semi-finals.

Sunderland for me as they are in a fairly big city but always seem to underachieve. I also heard good things about your last one.

I wanted to do a second career alongside Swansea and after several failed attempts at League 2 careers and a Zaragoza one I realized that I like lower BPL sides or Championship sides. SO I've chosen Nottingham Forest mostly due to the fact that they were once upon a time European Champions and their kits along with the team itself aren't too bad. Can both Swansea and Forest reach 15 seasons? We shall see. These are going to be my last attempts and I'm going to try my best to stick with them without restarting. Depending on how easy I find the Championship I may even up the difficulty to Legendary to make the journey to the Prem longer. Intro will be up later.

For some reason I felt like this was your wedding weekend but, I looked back at your older post, checked the calendar, and nope it appears it's next week. I WAS going to say something along the lines of "WOW look at this guy posting an update on his wedding day," but never mind lol

As for the update itself, you took some great wins against Real Madrid and Vallecano, 3-0 each, but those 1-0 defeats against Sevilla and Betis look like they were a pain to play. Your great form in the league has made up for it though as you are still extremely close to jumping over Real Madrid on the table. Really looking forward to the next two updates and you seeing you make your run for the title!

The Europa League seriously had some excitement in it, and controversy of course. That referee had some balls to call that penalty seeing as without that goal United would have been through on away goals. I can imagine how nervous you must have been preparing for that penalty kick in the 90th minute! You did pick up a bad result against Lazio, but on the bright side you still have a lot of room for recovery for the second leg. You do have an away goal against you, but seeing as you'll be visiting Lazio in the return leg you can void that by just scoring one. Anything after that will only increase your chances of advancing.

*Damn Barcelona in 6th place? What happened? Wouldn't be surprised if the AI had them go through a terrible transfer window.

Stuck as to what kinda career to do and who to pick, I had long one about 6-7 seasons but got stuck at AS Monaco as for some reason once you aren't at a really good team eventhough I one the league I couldn't get accepted anywhere else and got bored of France -_- so want a new on. How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

Simppu: Only Simp would sub his goalkeeper during a match haha but man, the only clean sheet you kept all month was against Koln. That certainly says something about your keepers! But perhaps maybe also about your defense? In high school football (soccer) we were taught that it was never the goalkeeper's mistake. Of course there are several incidents where it is clearly the goalkeepers mistake, but I'm just wondering if maybe the defense has had something to do with both goalkeeper's bad form. If not, I'm sure you already have a list of who you may try to bring in in January. Only one month left to go Simp! However, if one of your goalkeepers really picks up his form in December, will you allow him to keep playing and take advantage of that good form, or have you pretty much already made up your mind about bringing in somebody new? Other than that, you're still in a good position in the league, losing the leadership but then taking it back before the month ended. Really looking forward to seeing your clash against Madrid! By the way, is it possible through goal difference that both you and Madrid advance even if Benfica defeat Basel? Either way, I hope you can take the win and secure your place in the next round!

Indiblue: I voted for Leeds, and so far that's the only vote for Leeds which then made me question my decision lol my reasons are simple though. You want to go for 15 seasons, so I feel the best way to achieve that is by making your road to the treble longer and more difficult. Sunderland is a mid table club, but it can certainly squeeze into the European spots with you as manager so I feel it wouldn't take long for you to turn them into an elite club. Aston Villa may be a bigger challenge than Sunderland, however they are already in the Premier which is a head start compared to the other sides you listed. So that leaves the Championship sides. I didn't choose Brighton just because you've already used them before and if you're shooting for 15 seasons I don't want you to become bored. Aaaaand that's why I chose Leeds. It'll be something new for you, I think, and they have enough history to work with.

Keano: Looking at your academy I can't help but think you should have held on to the Ireland job longer. I can see why you did resign though, and it is very respectable, however you have some great Irish prospects in the academy that could have competed for the national team soon and maybe even made the difference to qualify you to a major tournament. Reilly, Seager, and Keohane are all players that with the next May update could jump up to the mid 70s, and then still grow some every month with your club. Could've been the start of a new era for Ireland :/ what will you do now? Will you be reviewing offers or just focus only on Swansea? Also great choice with Nottingham! Forrest always has the potential for great careers so really looking forward to it!

Jamie: Brentford! Really looking forward to this one as well. You should have a Spanish CAM in your squad that can become a very important player for your career. Man we've got some really good looking careers coming up soon!

Hertha basically needed to win this game if they wanted to challenge for a place in the round of 16. After dramatic 90 minutes that's exactly what they were able to do. Things didn't look good for the Berliners as Nelson Oliveira's header put Headfica - I mean Benfica- in the lead. Hertha then started pushing all of their players forwards and only Julio Cesar's amazing saves kept them away from the equaliser. Finally after the hour mark a through ball found Hakan Calhanoglu in the net who just curled it into the bottom right corner with his second touch. The home team started pulling players in defence but that wasn't enough to keep Hertha away from the goal. Pass, pass, pass, pass to Drmic in the box... and he shot it into the bottom right corner! The winning goal! Hertha were back in the race for the second place in the group!

A tired Hertha Berlin side wasn't enough to beat second in the league Bayern München. The Bavarians outclassed their opponents in every aspect of the game and Hertha had only one shot in the game. Surprisingly both of the goals were scored by holding midfielders. First Sebastian Rode scored before the half an hour mark from a shot that Ron-Robert Zieler parried -oh, by the way, he got substituted after that mistake- and almost an hour later Zlatko Junuzovic finished the second one from a counter attack. With this loss Hertha lost their lead in the league.

There were only two days separating this game from Hertha's game against Basel in the Champions which meant that Hertha fielded their second team. That lead to a game that was controlled by Köln and in which Hertha had only three shots. Luckily John Anthony Brooks got his head to Hakan Calhanoglu's corner in the 32nd minute to score the winner.

This very important win could've secured Hertha's place in the round of 16 but in the other game of the group Benfica were somehow able to beat Real Madrid. Hertha showed lots of quality in their match against Basel and their first goal was nicely created. There were a lot of passes around the box before Salomon Kalou played the ball to Maximilian Arnold who just shot it into the bottom right corner. The lead lasted under ten minutes as Basel's Gashi cut in from the right flank and curled a near-posted shot past Ron-Robert Zieler. The game then calmed down but in the 45th minute a penalty wasn't awarded for a clear foul on Valentin Stocker. Is this not a foul??

Luckily in the62nd minute Salomon Kalou was played through on goal from a counter attack and the Ivorian just curled the ball around Vaclic in goal. Like mentioned earlier Benfica beat Real Madrid and Hertha's last game against Real will decide the team that joins the Whites in the round of 16.

What an exciting game this was. Both teams attacked a lot and five goals were scored on the pitch of the pretty full Olympiastadion. The Berliners got the lead in the 35th minute when Heung-Min Son cut in from the right wing and shot the ball straight at Diego Benaglio who somehow failed to save the shot. Only five minutes later Salomon Kalou doubled the lead from a counter attack but another five minutes later Daniel Caligiuri pulled one back with a shot that went through Kapino's legs in goal. Twenty minutes into the second half Ivan Perisic controlled a good long pass with his chest before shooting the ball into the bottom right corner. In the 76th minute Hakan Calhanoglu and Heung-Min Son combined well as Son got his brace with a shot from outside the box that bounced into the net off the post.

Seriously, this was a real up and down month. None of the attackers were consistent, none of the midfielders impressed me and none of the defenders made amazing clearances, interceptions or tackles. Speaking of great defenders, I miss Kaan Ayhan and Marquinhos from Hellas Verona. They are the best defensive duo I've used.

The German keeper of the team is still hugely underperforming for the Berliners. He parries way too many weak shots, he lets in very easy goals in almost every game he plays and he even got substituted off the field against Bayern.




Stefanos Kapino

The other keeper of the team also performed badly in November. He wasn't as poor as Zieler but he also made some mistakes and let in easy goals. Hertha seriously need new keepers.




Valentin Stocker

It's official, Valentin Stocker has hit the bottom. After three terrible months in the beginning of the season, which followed the amazing 2015-16 campaign he had, he has been dropped out of the starting eleven. Only four assists in four months weren't good enough statistics for Stocker who was replaced by Timo Werner. The Swiss attacking midfielder could be on his way out in January.

Top of the Table -There have been three points max separating the top two of the Bundesliga for the whole season and for the last two months Hertha have gotten the upper hand in the title race. Even though Bayern beat the Berliners and became the leaders they lost only two weeks later and dropped back to second. If both teams keep playing like they have this season will be the most interesting season in recent years.

Keeper Problems - It has been clear for a while now that Hertha have some serious problems with their goalkeepers. Ron-Robert Zieler has been the biggest flop signing for Hertha and the other candidate Stefanos Kapino hasn't played that well in many of the recent games. The keepers are getting rotated but that hasn't fixed anything. It's still unsure who is the starting keeper of Hertha.


By the way, where's Rabbit? He appeared a while ago to mention that he won't be able to post the end of season updates but I haven't heard anything from him since that.

A very rocky month. You have a good game, then you have a close game where both teams don't actually perform too well. You did lose to Munich but that is understandable due to the calibre of their team and the form that you're in. The truely greatest teams get points even when they're out of form and that's exactly what you did this month!

Tremoulinas sent in a cross from the left wing that Baba was able to rise up and head down to the ground inside the box and Iborra ran up and struck it home into the top right corner while Angelino and Asenjo were still recovering from losing the initial header. It was Sevilla's only shot on target, but it was the deciding goal of the match.

Modric brought down Guardado outside the box giving him the chance to line up the free kick and curl it over the top of the wall and away from the keeper into the right side of the goal. Luisinho held off Ronaldo while running down the left wing and avoided a challenge before sending in a cross that found Barral for a header back across into the top left corner. Carmona found Ekiza in space in the middle of the field who then spotted Guardado running free through the back side of the defense and played it to him to go 1 on 1 with the keeper and slot it into the bottom right corner.

Juan Dominguez played a ball all the way through to Urreta on the left wing and he sent in a low cross that found Barral for a shot that was kept out by De Gea, but saved right back to Barral for the tap in. Fabricio passed the ball right to Chicharito from the goal kick and he was able to beat Ekiza inside and fire the ball into the top right corner for the equalizer.

In a poor display on both sides, only one shot was registered on goal for each team. Deportivo started the game earning two early yellow cards for each of their center backs and having Romero who started at right back go out with an injury in the first half. Ultimately with almost the entire game gone by, Salvador chipped the ball up into the space vacated in the middle of the box by both center backs and Figueras was able to chest it down unmarked and then slot it between the keeper's legs for the winner.

Rafael was called for a penalty after dragging the attacker down in the box from behind allowing De Tomas to convert to the right side of the goal for the opener. Mata evened it up after receiving a ball from Di Maria to the left of the goal and slotting it past the keeper on the near post. Aquino attacked the middle of the box before finding Urreta on the left for a powerful left footed strike to the far post. Herrera got past Insua in the box and forced Ekiza to over commit before taking a touch around him and firing it inside the far left post. In what will surely go down as one of the most controversial decisions of the competition, Jones was called for a foul on Guardado inside the box after appearing to have gotten to the ball first. De Tomas took advantage of the gift from the referee and converted to the top left corner to advance Deportivo through to the quarter finals.

Raul De Tomas


Raul De Tomas was solid in a month that saw a mixed bag of results for Deportivo. He led the way to create the highlight of the month, scoring twice against Manchester United including a 90th minute penalty to send Deportivo through to the quarter finals.

Manager Comments

Injuries - We lost both Guardado and Juan Dominguez to injuries against Rayo Vallecano in a disgusting lack of control all game long by the opposing team. This led us to head into the match against Lazio with a young and inexperienced midfield which really hurt us. Juan Dominguez will be back in time for the second leg, but Guardado will be missing 3 weeks. This season is becoming an injury plagued season for the Mexican midfielder.

League Table - We beat Real Madrid in a fantastic 1st vs 2nd match. However, we dropped two other games that we shouldn't have against Sevilla and Betis that cost us the spot at the top of the table. We remain just a point behind Real Madrid though, and we are focused on finishing the season strong.

Europa League - An exciting finish against Manchester United has us advancing through to the quarter finals. We drew Lazio, and due to injuries to our starting midfielders we dropped the first leg at home 1-0. We will have to regroup ourselves and head into the second leg with a new focus in order to earn a place in the semi-finals.

Beñat played a ball over the top to Fabregas on the right side of the box and he dribbled it in and fired from an impossible angle putting it right over the keeper's head into the net. Yedlin took off with the ball down the right wing on a counter and found Diskerud running into the box for the first time strike to the top left corner. Iniesta found Berñat to the left of the goal and he slotted the ball under the keeper for the equalizer.

Quite a solid month! You're only one point behind Real Madrid in the table which is amazing! Hopefully they slip up and then you're favourites for the title in my eyes! The Europa League sounds sooo exciting right now! Nice results against Man U and hopefully you can claw back against Lazio to get into the semi's!

Not too bad with the US by the way! Spain are always difficult but you got the draw in the end. Good luck for the World Cup!

It's a coin flip between Derby and Sunderland but I went for Derby. They have a solid team with great potential but they still have a lot of work to do to become great! Whatever team you choose, I hope that you enjoy it and that you hit that 15 season limit!

Sunderland for me as they are in a fairly big city but always seem to underachieve. I also heard good things about your last one.

I wanted to do a second career alongside Swansea and after several failed attempts at League 2 careers and a Zaragoza one I realized that I like lower BPL sides or Championship sides. SO I've chosen Nottingham Forest mostly due to the fact that they were once upon a time European Champions and their kits along with the team itself aren't too bad. Can both Swansea and Forest reach 15 seasons? We shall see. These are going to be my last attempts and I'm going to try my best to stick with them without restarting. Depending on how easy I find the Championship I may even up the difficulty to Legendary to make the journey to the Prem longer. Intro will be up later.

Good luck for this CM! Nottingham Forest are a great team and they can easily challenge for places for the PL and then stay there providing that you dedicate yourself to the team. Looking forward to how you go about this CM!

Cabee - I really hope you do well with Gazelec. Like you said it will be a huge challenge but I'm sure you'll succeed in it! Also, let's not forget there's another team from Corsica in the Ligue 1 and that team is Bastia. You'll need to beat them, too :P

Jamie: Brentford! Really looking forward to this one as well. You should have a Spanish CAM in your squad that can become a very important player for your career. Man we've got some really good looking careers coming up soon!

I assume you mean Toral. Well he is only on loan and I have another CAM who is English with a better overall and it seems as though he has better potential. Alex Pritchard. Also on loan but out of the two I'd feel more compelled to go for Pritchard permanently.

It was a great season! Getting your highest ever league finish coupled with a European trophy is a terrific thing. I suppose you would have expected to beat Getafe but when Real have a player like Ronaldo it's very hard to beat them. Looked like the final had a tense ending with them hitting the post twice in the last 10 and having the majority of the chances throughout the game. You took ours though and I'm delighted to see that trophy being lifted. That team of the year is slightly confusing though, no Ronaldo?!?!?! Good luck in the Champions League next season. Will you keep Camarasa until his contract ends seeing as it's 3 years? Or try to sell him on? Looking forward to the Confederations Cup with Mexico also!

I couldn't believe I had lost both of the last league games but you're right, with a player like Ronaldo a goal could come from anywhere. Zenit was a great opponent and really did make me work for it. They had everything to equalize so I was lucky to be able to hold the lead in the final minutes.

I agree with you on the TOTY. No Ronaldo and no Modric either (top assister). This career has been like that though. I did forget to check the Liga Adelante table but I remember last season the teams that were promoted did not even earn it based on the table. It was really weird.

As for Camarasa, I think I will let him go. I'm going to try to offer him one last contract extension, and if he doesn't accept it then I will replace him. Actually I think that even if he does accept it I will still replace him. I already get enough from you guys about me hardly ever selling/buying players lol another thing is I don't need a player that doesn't want to be here messing up our dressing room as we go into our first Champions League season.

A very convincing season by your boys! 4th is still amazing given the teams you're up against! Congrats on winning the Europa League by the way! I bet that'll give you a nice boost in the transfer budget!

It's always annoying to see a player who refuses his contract for reasons that can easily be fixed but they're adamant to leave anyway! Hopefully you can find a suitable replacement for Camarasa though.

Thanks! I just saw my new budget last night and yes it is A LOT bigger than what I've previously had to work with. Like I said above I think I will replace Camarasa. I don't usually give out my transfer targets anymore but I'm currently scouting about six players. I'm not on my PS4 right now so I can't check who they are, but I do remember that one of them is Sergi Samper from Barcelona B. I try not to sign players from my direct rivals and he meets that requisite being in Liga Adelante. Another name I remember is Juan Dominguez, who I wouldn't even consider buying in my career because Tex already has him, BUT in my career he's no longer with Deportivo he's with Granada now so I think it's okay now haha not really though, so even though I think he would be a great box to box midfielder to replace Camarasa he's at the bottom of my list. I'm mainly looking at Spanish midfielders in Liga Adelante and abroad so if you have any names feel free to shout them out!
