Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

    Inter Milan
    Season 1
    March 2015

    Objectives:
    Qualify for the Champions League
Reach the Final of the Europa League
Reach the Semi Final of the Domestic Cup

    TIM Cup
    Inter 0 - 1 Juventus
    Tevez 52’

    MOTM Alves

A hard fought game that we played well but it was not enough. It was a midfield battle the whole game with few chances and they took one and we did not. Tevez hit the shot from 20 yards out and it went in off the post. We were close to equalizing with a free kick from Depay when he hit the crossbar and it bounced down and looked like it crossed the line but the goal line technology showed that it in fact did not. We are knocked out of the cup to Juventus with a 1-2 aggregate scoreline.

    League Match
    Inter 3 - 2 Fiorentina
    Shaqiri 28’ 78’
    Depay 53’
    Kurtic 56’
    Babacar 70’

    MOTM Shaqiri

We were in control of this game the entire time except the fifteen minutes where they scored and had all their chances. Shaqiri’s first goal was a rebounded ball that came off the keeper from a Depay shot. Depay would double the lead after have time with some excellent skill to cut in and smash the ball over the keeper’s head and into the roof of the net. Fiorentina cut the lead in half directly after the kickoff with a well placed header to the far post. Less than fifteen minutes after that goal they would equalize with a sensational strike from just outside the box to the top corner of the far post. After they scored though we took control of the game once again and we looked like we would go on to win the game. Shaqiri put us back ahead with twelve minutes to when he was played through from Icardi and a coolly placed finish to the right of the keeper.

    Europa League
    CSKA Moskva 1 - 1 Inter
    Tosic 27’
    Palacio 74

    MOTM Palacio

Going to Russia is always difficult and this game was no different. Tosic opened the scoring with a brilliant volley when his teammate headed a cross down to him and it was too powerful for Leno to stop. Most of the game was played on their side of the pitch but Akinfeev proved to be a top keeper. Palacio would equalize for us with a finesse shot from just outside the box that proved to be inch perfect to the upper 90 and Akinfeev just watched it go in. That’s how the game finished and we will go back to the San Siro with an important away goal.

Akinfeev watching the ball go in.

    League Match
    Inter 3 - 0 Cesena
    Agliardi (OG) 5’
    Dodo 27’
    Mane 73

    MOTM Agliardi

We dominated this game and Agliardi being man of the match despite an own goal shows how important he was that they didn’t lose by more. The own goal came when the Cesena defender cleared the ball off the line but kicked it right into the goalkeeper and it bounced in. Dodo scored his first goal of the season with a volley from a rebound off the post into an open goal. Mane scored and excellent volley just inside the box after a brilliant ball over the top by Podolski.

    League Match
    Sampdoria 0 - 1 Inter
    Dodo 87’

    MOTM Leno

We played a severely weakened side because we had a Europa League game two days later and it almost proved to be fatal. We were under pressure the whole time and if not for a goalkeeper in amazing form we probably would have lost. Dodo was able to score in an open net after Mane sweat it across to him. Vidic tore his quad and will be out for 3 months.

    Europa League
    Inter 1 (5) - (4) 1 CSKA Moskva
    Shaqiri 34’
    Musa 43’

    MOTM Depay

In a highly contested match that saw us go through to the next round on penalties both teams played very open and both keepers were very busy. shaqiri would open the scoring with a tap in with an assist from Depay who drilled a ground cross to the far post. Musa would equalize just before half time after some poor defending left him unmarked inside the 6 and an easy finish. Neither team could score even through overtime and it saw us go to penalties. Everyone made theirs until Musa stepped up. Leno proved too good for the Nigerian and made the save to see us advance. In the quarter-final we will be playing German side Wolfsburg.

    League Match
    Napoli 0 - 3 Inter
    Palacio 24’ (PEN) 59’
    Depay 45’

    MOTM Palacio

Much like last time we played Napoli we were comfortable winners. We controlled the match very well and the only time they looked like scoring was in the final five minutes or so. Palacio was able to score a 1v1 after Depay beat 2 players and played him through. Depay scored right before half time. He beat his man and then smash it past the keeper using his weaker left foot. Shaqiri was awarded a penalty when he was pulled down from behind on the edge of the box. Palacio hit it to his left and above the keeper who dove the right way. For the rest of the game we were on top of them but unable to score a fourth goal.

Depay beating his man before his goal.

    League Table:

    Europa League Table:

    My Thoughts:

Our only loss came in the TIM Cup which was a disappointing loss but we met our objective in the cup so it will not be that bad. We went undefeated in the league this month and that left us on top of the table. We were glad to find our way through the Round of 32 of the Europa League in what turned out to be quite a difficult draw. Hopefully we can do the same next month and continue through the end of the season.

Also we have a youth player from a scout future star that was sent to me by a friend and I used it on this career. His name is Riccardo Camigliano, an Italian midfielder that is 16 years old. His overall is 38-48 with a potential of 73-91.

    Fixtures:
    Wolfsburg (A) - Europa League
    Parma (H) - Serie A
    Wolfsburg (H) - Europa League
    Hellas Verona (A) - Serie A
    AC Milan (H) - Serie A
    Roma (H) - Serie A
    Udinese (A) - Serie A

    -----------------------------------------------------------

    Portugal
    European Qualifiers

    Starting Lineup:

    Bench: Danny (82), Almeida (76), Fernandes (79), Tiago (80), Oliveira (76), Artunes (76), Lopes (80)

    Reserves: Pereira (77), Patrico (80), Fonte (78), Eder (74), Varela (78)

After much consideration of who to play and where this is what I decided on. I took Simppu’s advice of playing Ronaldo at striker and use Nani and Quaresma on the wings. I think I will enjoy all my forwards having 5 star skills. The midfield trio has a creative playmaker in Moutinho, a box to box in Ander and the holding mid is Carvalho. Pepe is out injured so he was not a choice in back and for centerback I think this will be my best partnership. All of my goalkeepers have an overall of 80 but Beto looks to have the best stats and will be our starter at least for now even though he is the oldest of the bunch.

    European Qualifier
    Portugal 3 - 1 Hungary
    Ronaldo 22’ 47’ 74’
    Dzsudzsak 45’

    MOTM Ronaldo

A good game for my first game in charge. Hungary gave a good fight in in the first half, but in the second we were too good for them. Our first goal was Nani playing Ronaldo through on goal and he had an easy left footed finish to the bottom corner. Dzsudzsak would score the equalizer for Hungary with a brilliant header back post that floated over Beto. In the second half Ronaldo would score two more to complete his hat trick. His second was a long shot that bounced in off the crossbar. The final goal of the match was a Ronaldo free kick from 22 yards out that went over the wall and in. We always looked like winning and Hungary only had chances on the counter.

    Ronaldo’s long shot.

    European Qualifier
    Portugal 2 - 2 Italy
    Totti 14’
    Ander 37’
    Ronaldo 54’
    Balotelli 74’

    MOTM Sirigu

The game against Italy was much more difficult. Totti opened the scoring early on with a header from close range. Ander scored our first goal from a header when Coentrao crossed the ball in from a corner. Ronaldo put us in the lead when he beat 3 men and then the goal keeper from inside the six. Balotelli would tie the game once again with a powerful volley from 10 yards out. We only didn’t win because of the brilliant Italian goalkeeper Sirigu who was awarded man of the match.

    Table:

    My Thoughts:

We had a good game against Hungary and a decent one against Italy. I wish we had won against Italy, but it wasn’t meant to be. It was good to see Ronaldo start scoring for Portugal and he is now tied for top goal scorer in the qualifiers. The team has been playing well as a whole and we also have Joao Moutinho who is the top assister in the group. I’m confident we will be able to make it through and maybe even top the group.

Guardado sent a cross in from the left wing and De Tomas was able to head it back into the box for Costa. The defender grabbed onto Costa's shirt and pulled him down to concede a late penalty. De Tomas stepped up and used a hesitation to place the ball into the bottom right corner as the keeper dove to the opposite side.

Juan Dominguez split two defenders and worked his way into the box and placed the ball into the top right corner to open the scoring. Carmona found Williams on the top right side of the box and he used a quick touch to get around the defender and hit the ball just inside the far post. Golobart made a poor challenge inside his own box and took out the attacker to concede a penalty. Finnbogason hit it hard and even though the keeper guess correctly it went just past his hands. Hernandez found Williams to the right and he sent the ball ahead to Iglesias running into the box and he used a fake to send the defender the wrong way before cutting it back and slotting it into the bottom left corner.

          Villarreal CF 2 - RC Deportivo 2

Carmona broke free down the right side of the box and sent a low cross into the box finding Aquino on the back post for the tap in. Muniain's shot was deflected into the air falling right to dos Santos waiting on the back post for the volley into the net. Villarreal showed off great ball movement getting it to Gomez open in the middle of the box for a quick turn and shoot to take the lead. Iglesias drew a penalty in the 90th minute and stepped up to convert from the spot beating the keeper just out of his reach to the left side of the goal.

          RC Deportivo 2 - Atletico Madrid 2

Williams found Barral at the top of the box and he quickly found Guardado on the left side for the strike into the bottom left corner. Siqueira crossed the ball into the box where Markovic headed it to the back post to Koke's feet for a quick shot into the back of the net. Koke laid the ball off for Siqueira in the middle of the box and he struck it first time into the bottom right corner for the late equalizer.

Ruiz saved a shot and it fell back to Wilshere who played it quickly to Ramsey for a well placed finish to the bottom left corner. Carmona dribbled to the end line on the right side of the box and sent a cross in to Barral for a header that went off the post and came right back to him for the finish. Meireles got the ball in the middle of the field and threaded it directly up the middle to Carmona in the box who was able to hit it first time into the top left corner for the winner.

Deportivo La Coruña Player of the Month

          Bruno Carmona

Bruno Carmona made a step up in his development as he was the star player this month. He scored his second career goal, but more impressively contributed three assists in his appearances. His is making the manager have to find ways to incorporate both him and Aquino since both are in great form.

          Manager Comments

League Form - Still unbeaten, but we've dropped in the standings after settling for some draws. We have to be better in late game situations and not let teams come back on us. Still a lot of games left to be played, and like I said, we still haven't been beaten.

Champions League - Deportivo's return to the Champions League is off to a spectacular start. We took care of business against Wolfsburg before winning in dramatic fashion against Arsenal. Carmona deserves to be the man of the hour for coming through late to secure all three points.

Youth Academy - Our scout has returned to Spain to begin scouting for local talent to bring in. We are raising our standards with each new recruit brought in. While we want an academy with options, we want to make sure those options will have the chance to be stars for us.

I saw that too. Maybe its worth playing around with and seeing if it actually is true. I might use an old career and Sim up to May later. The only downfall if this is true is that you have lower overall players coming out of the academy.

Rooting for Middlesbrough huh? You gotta admit though, from where Norwich were in January, it's some achievement.

It works. I have some players that have been growing in their physical stats as a result of this. I'll post some pictures if I can remember after work today.

For all players except GK's. with GK's physical stats arent really a big deal and 9/10 times you get one it's worth it to let them get the May boost If you get someone like this it's not worth letting them get the May boost

Depends on their overall. Anyone under 60 OVR I would let go through May since they aren't likely to ever grow into a useful player for you. Even guys in the low 60's will require several years of loans before they will likely be able to contribute, but they will end up having much better physical stats than any of your other players.

Kind of what I was thinking. Do you leave GKs and fullbacks labeled as wingers through May?

That would be ideal I think. Keeper's physical stats aren't much of an issue, and the fullbacks labeled as wingers will usually have pace stats in at least the 70's so while growth would be nice, it isn't necessary for them to be a quick player. Better to get them a boost on their defensive stats in May.

No problem. Like I said, I'll try to remember to post pictures after work today. I have a RM who has grown to 70 sprint speed already and will keep growing meaning that he could be a very useful player in time.
