A complete disaster of a game. We out shot the Norwegians but they somehow managed to come away with a victory leaving our hopes of qualification very bleak. Søderlund opened the scoring with a header before Hector bundled the ball into his own net minutes later for a two goal lead. Chalobah cut the deficit to one after hitting a Williams pass first time past the keeper but it was not enough. Stamnestrø went on to add a third for Rosenborg and effectively seal the win for the visitors.

It was Benik Afobe's game as the former Arsenal man bagged a hat trick to secure a convincing win. He was put through by Whittingham for the first which he dispatched at the second time of asking after Rudd saved his first effort. A long punt up field from Blanco, after he claimed a Norwich corner, set up the second. Afobe out muscled the defender before running through to curl past Rudd. He claimed the match ball after a one-two with Alli unlocked the Canaries with 15 minutes remaining. A perfect way to bounce back after a poor result in midweek.

MotM: Peter Whittingham (CAR)

Afobe continued his good form, being a constant nuisance up front and winning the penalty just short of the hour mark. Captain Peter Whittingham tucked the ball away comfortably and gave us the lead. Hector sealed the three points when he headed home a Pilkington free kick four minutes from time. Hector had replaced Amartey at halftime and played in midfield as the anchor allowing Ince to power forward.

Daniel Amartey will miss 3 weeks with a sprained knee.

So yeah, after a decent month in the league we are surprisingly sitting third. We didn't get off to a great start losing to Leicester but we bounced back with a huge derby win over Swansea before an Afobe hat trick and two clean sheets gave us crucial points over teams that are about the same quality as us.

Honestly, it's not looking good at the moment. Three games and three losses. The Rosenborg loss this month hurt because really we should be beating a team from Norway. You could make a case for losing to Lazio and maybe Celtic but not Rosenborg. We'll have to win the remaining three games to be in with any chance and that's what we plan to do.

We open the month up with a big game against Lazio where we will need to come away with three points. QPR should be a dog fight but we have to win the six pointers against teams of our quality to stay in the league so a victory is a must. Rosenborg come in between hard games against Liverpool and Spurs so that game has to be won. A draw against either of the other two would be satisfactory.

Starting XI

That has been the first half of the season and oh boy, we have been bloody amazing so far! We haven't lost a single game this season, going 14-3-0 in the Bundesliga and 5-1-0 in the Champions League. In our domestic league we have scored 39 goals in 17 games, which is the most in the league, and we have conceded only 9 goals in those same 17 games, which is the least in the league. Pierre-Emeric Aubameyang is the top scorer of the Bundesliga and the team with his 11 Bundesliga goals. Vedad Ibisevic has netted seven Bundesliga goals and Kalou has scored four. Our Kevin Kampl is leading the assist boards with six assists and Vladimir Darida is a close second with five. Our keeper Jarstein has kept ten clean sheets in league play which is also the most in the Bundesliga.

We have a ten-point lead over Leverkusen in second and even though the second half of the season hasn't been played yet I'm betting in our favour. If we continue to play like this there is no way that any team will stop us in Germany and maybe in Europe. Additionally, we are doing well in both the Champions League and the DFB Pokal, where we are facing Galatasaray and Borussia Mönchengladbach respectively. We can beat both teams.

The squad is looking very good and we have good players and solid depth for every position. The backline has been good, Weigl has been good as our holding midfielder, Kampl has been a huge revelation in the middle in our new 4-3-3, Darida has been great as always, and then we have our great attacking trio. Switching to a 4-3-3 when Kalou returned from his injury was a great idea and all three attackers are netting goals constantly. Speaking of the attackers, unfortunately both Kalou and Ibisevic have announced that they will retire when their contracts run out which might be after this season, I'm not completely sure. Whenever they decide to retire, one thing is for sure: both of them will be missed.

Last but not least, the transfer window has arrived! There isn't a single player who I'm looking to sign right now but if we sell someone big I might go all out. There is no-one who I want to sign but on the other hand there are a couple of players I'd like to sell. Those players are Yunus Malli, Johannes Geis and Julian Brandt. Malli isn't needed, Geis has been very poor and Brandt has been alright-ish. The thing with Brandt is that we could easily get €60M for him and that's something I wouldn't pass on. Other than those three players the squad is looking great.

Also, we have promoted the German Benno Adlung (71 ovr/ 78-83 pot/17 y/o) to the senior squad. We are looking to loan him out. Slaven Radic (71 ovr/86-91 pot/17 y/o) remains in the youth squad.

10cabee - We have to get a screenshot of Ronaldo playing for Exeter City!.... Oxlade-Chamberlain, Lukaku, Cristiano Ronaldo what a team!

Keano - Europa league is not really working out!, however things are looking good for the BPL, could be a season where you over-achieve!, QPR, Liverpool and Spurs will be a big test!

Simpuu - Benno Adlung (71 ovr/ 78-83 pot/17 y/o) Slaven Radic (71 ovr/86-91 pot/17 y/o) Got some good young prospects here!

@Cabee: You had a decent run of games in September and October, the Chelsea game aside but you really came into your own after the formation change. Well done in getting through your CL group and you're not too far off Chelsea in the league. Sad to see Sercombe leave but he just couldn't keep up I suppose. What a coup getting Ronaldo! I know he's 35 but what is his rating now? Appiah! Again what's his rating now? You sold him to PSG IIRC?

@Cruzerr: Solid month! Ireland came up big in the last two games, giving you a massive win over City, his former club too. You're sitting in a good position in the league, just need to kick on in the next few months and push for Europe.

@Rabbit: A bit of up and down form with Newport but more wins than losses which is great. You had some big wins against Luton especially although the 4-1 loss against Bristol must have been painful to play. McKay is scoring for fun and Giles is making an impact as well as Arteaga and Martinez. Things are looking good!

@Simp: Aubameyang looks to be worth every penny! You're dominating in the league and CL so it wouldn't surprise me to see you win the double or even treble. Good to see Kalou scoring again after coming back from injury. Sad to see he is going to be retiring though.

So go ahead and let me know which team you want to see lifted/restored to European greatness. One is a charming side in a weakened league, which recently acquired the ownership to its own stadium and renovated it big-time. The other two are former giants of the wealthiest league in the world. Went with Udinese as I thought a Serie A career would be interesting and there's still plenty of tough teams like Juve, Inter, Milan, Napoli, Roma, Lazio etc.

Damn, I didn't even notice there's a Villa career going on. I'm also curious to know why you say Udinese would be easy considering there's Juventus, Milan, Inter, Roma, Fiorentina, Lazio, Torino and Sampdoria all with better teams. I mean even Di Natale would retire by the end of the first season.
