    FIFA 16
    Everton Career Mode
Really, Season 2, Cruzerr? Is this a prank?
    SEASON 2

The Toffees quest on for European success

If there is anything to note from last season, it is, that these two men turned the league upside down.

So, before we get into everything that we have to look forward to this season, lets just take a trip back to the start of last season.

Picture this, a broken Everton squad, both physically and morally, finishes 11th, with Martinez getting the sack and many big players wanting to leave. In comes a new coach, who, completely revamps the whole youth system, the playstyle and the coaching staff. He begs his best players to stay, urging them to give him a chance, so they could take the next step. Everybody stays, and along with them, he brings in a young, unproven, Bundesliga goalkeeper, a West Ham reject and a man, who, eventually, gets injured for 5 months and misses most of the season.

If that is not a recipe for disaster, than I do not know, how you can classify all of that what I just wrote. It still seems so unbelievable that I can't even fathom it, while I am writing this.

    So, what actually happens?

Well, the team forms the best defense in the league, play exciting football against big teams, have plenty of young players (such as Ledson, Browning, Galloway) step up into the first team to perform, have the leagues leading goalscorer and the same rookie goalkeeper finish with the most clean-sheets in the league.

    What? How?

The job that Cruzerr has done with this team, has been phenomenal, and really probably is over-shadowed by the recent success story of Leicester. While yes, Everton had the talent all along, just could not get it to click, having a novice coach coming in and turning the whole thing upside down, has gotten both us (the media) and the fans talking about it.

Now the Toffees have finished forth, with guaranteed European football and money enough to improve the squad. And as we have learned from this pre-season, coach Cruzerr is not afraid to spend big to take the next step.

Young Okore joins the Toffees on a free transfer from Villa Park.

One of the bigger and most conflicting decisions that Cruzerr has done in the recent weeks, is that he has completely disregarded the pre-season games for Everton, as they will not play a single game this pre-season. While many think that is complete rubbish, the coach feels that in order to take the next step, they must keep improving on their own game. "Well, a lot will change this season for us. We had a strong season, but we need to make improvements. Without these games, we can focus on what is important for us: improving on our play and getting the new players fitted into the squad early."

And speaking of new players, he has his work caught up for himself, as he has brought in quite a few interesting players to improve the squad. Jores Okore has now joined the team after last years quite successful season with Aston Villa. WIth rumors floating of Funes Moris departure and worries of Rüdigers injury problem, the Toffees must be happy of signing a strong, defensive center back to strengthen the team.

Another new player that joins team from another Premier League side is Sadio Mane. The young, Senegalese midfielder/attacker has joined from Southampton for a fee of £13.000.000, adding in plenty of depth and experience of European football. But, going even younger, the English forward from Vitesse, Dominic Solanke, also has joined the Everton squad in a £15.000.000 transfer. And if you think that he is going to get little minutes, Oumar Niasse has left Everton to join Hoffenheim, so Solanke will be second fiddle to Lukaku.

William Carvalho might have been in Portugal last season, but he will have to endure the always rainy weather of Britain this year.

But the big transfer came later, as William Carvalho joined the Toffees in a huge, £24.500.000 deal. For a man, who has been chased by the biggest clubs in the world for quite a few seasons now, joining Everton was quite a surprise, as the story is that they outbid Manchester United to eventually get him to be a part of his team. However, Carvalho, or to call him by the name he will be wearing on his shirt, William was quite happy to join a promising "work in progress" than a poorly executed mega-team. "The heart of this team makes it seems that nobody is sure to have his spot, everybody works his hardest and it really showed with their recent success in the league. I am excited to give my best and be a part of this fantastic club."

And, if you think that Cruzerr forgot his youngsters, you are surely wrong, as three players have taken a step up from the U21 team to regular play with first team: Jack Hird, a 17 year old winger, Matthew Pym and Sam Byrne , both 16 year old full backs. While we couldn't get a word with them, Ryan Ledson had a say about a youngsters place in this team. "Coach trusts his players, even the young ones. It is quite nice to play in a team, where you know, that the coach has your back and even if you slip up, he will be there for you. Even players, who have gone out on loans, are still a part of his bigger picture. I am excited for the young guys, I won't be the only one bullied anymore!

Will Stones and Barkley be coached by Cruzerr also internationally?

To end it all, there has been plenty of rumors that Anthony Cruzerr has already accepted the England job, yet nothing certain yet. Whether that will affect Everton or the Three Lions or both, nobody knows. But, the magical coach had only one line to say, after we asked him how this season will go.

    "We'll see."

Jeez, I will go grab my seatbelt early this year.

      January 2016

      FA Cup
      Accrington 1-0 Liverpool
      12' OG Bogdán

We did it! A truly inspired performance although in truth helped a little by Bogdán's horrendous mistake 12 minutes in. Sakho drilled a pass back to his keeper only for the Hungarian to miss control it and watch as the ball trickled into the Liverpool net. Mooney was incredible in goal, making nine saves, including one on a point blank shot from Nathaniel Clyne just before half time. Liverpool missed a rake of other chances while Kee had two late attempts to extend our lead. Bogdán saving one well while the other crashed off the crossbar.

      League Two

Solid and realistic signings imo. Will Okore be taking over from Jags alongside Stones or will it be Rudiger? Mane is an exciting player and I'm sure you enjoyed using him at Southampton. Carvalho will be a powerhouse in midfield and Solanke should develop very nicely, what's his rating now? Looking forward to seeing how those youth players progress, what are their potentials btw?, and if you actually did take the England job.

10cabee - wow you are actually stepping down. Not sure I'd be able to walk away from a dynasty if I've built one like that!

Congrats on treble number two. Can't wait to see where you land.

Cruzerr - 4th is a very good finish for this Everton squad. As you mentioned this squad has a lot of potential and finishing this high this early is great. Lukaku, 20+ goals is honestly not surprising for that guy. Just a beast.

Any offers for international jobs yet? Who would be your top three choices?

To keep it realistic, both Jags and Stones will stay as starters. Rüdiger didn't grow like I expected him the first season and Okore isn't going to start just yet, after the two CB were a part of the best defense in the league.

Mane is a back-up right now, yet honestly, I just enjoy him so much that he will get a ton of minutes.

Solanke is 19 years old and, wait for it...79 RATED WHAT. I am so excited to play with him.

Carvalho is the only one, who will be slotted straight in to the starting lineup.

I will check and get back to you about the potentials, I honestly can't remember off the top of my head.

FIRST OFF, I CAN'T THANK YOU ALL ENOUGH WITH THE POSTS ABOUT ME FINISHING WELL.

But, since Ducks asked a question, I have gotten a ton of options, and right now, the most obvious one is England, but along with that, Chile and Brazil also seem interesting. We'll see!

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

Hey Indi, this is Charlie Monroe. I'm Paul Barber's PA. Can you be at the AmEx by around 10.15 am? Tony Bloom wants a word.

It's too early for this sh*t.

Morning, Charlie. Sure, I'll be there by 10 just in case. Anything you need me to bring specifically?

There's absolutely no way this is happening at 5.30 in the f*cking morning.

Nothing, just you and your agent if you've got one.

                I'm going to murder that chip-twirling, card-shuffling pr*ck.

                *************************

One week ago, I was happy in my job as the assistant manager of Brighton & Hove Albion. It's a post I've held for the last few years, prior to which I was in charge of the club's youth academy and development team. I wasn't rich in the way that Premier League footballers are, but I drive a Jag and go to Portugal on holiday twice a year. Plus, I get to work with a very exciting football club. In the last few years, we've played Arsenal and Newcastle in the FA Cup. It's the sort of life a young lad grows up dreaming of having.

Today, I'm meeting with Tony Bloom. Tony's the sort of pigheaded ar*ehole who does what he wants, when he wants to, with no concern for what any of the rest of the world cares. He also happens to be the owner of Brighton & Hove Albion, and because he's put tens of millions of his own money into the club since taking over, nobody ever says anything negative or critical to him. Naturally, his head is as inflated as a hot air balloon in Cappadocia.

Except today, I need to be on Tony's good side. See, our great leader in all his infinite wisdom decided to make Sami Hyypia our manager in the summer of 2014. Sami was my direct boss and never the right fit for this club, so he of course got sacked in December of that same year and was replaced by Chris Hughton. Now that's a manager. But as it always is with Tony, no one is ever really in his good books.

But hey, what Chris doesn't know won't hurt him, right? At least so I hope.

                *************************

"Let's get straight to the point, shall we?"

There is literally not a shred of humanity in this individual.

"You want to be made manager of this club, yes? Why should I sack Chris Hughton, get caught up in nonsense with his lawyers, end up paying him a load of severance compensation, and hire you instead?"

                Keep your sh*t together, Indi.

"Well, I think I'm a better fit than Chris for this football club. In fact, I'd say I'm a better fit than anyone else out there. Including the likes of Mourinho and Guardiola."

Oh lord, he's got that irritatingly sarcastic grin.

"Better fit than Mourinho? Why didn't you just say so? Though perhaps you would care to enlighten me just a wee bit further."

Like hell I would. You know full well why.

"Tony, I've been part of this club's academy and management setup for the last decade. That's an advantage none of your other candidates have. I've seen first-hand where your previous managers have gone wrong, and I can make sure we don't screw it up this time. I really believe I'm the man to get this club promoted because nobody knows this club better than I do."

The words are barely out of my mouth before I realise what I've said.

"Nobody? Do you know how much of myself I have given to this club? Listen to me, you little tw*t, and listen good. I've been supporting Brighton for 45 years. I was coming to these games when your old man was working up the courage to ask your mum for a sh*g! So if you think for one bloody minute that you know Brighton better than I do..."

No f*cking use talking to this mental case. Best get out and phone Gav.

                *************************

"How many times have I got to keep telling you? Stop talking business when I'm not around!"

"I know, mate. I'm sorry. But there's no way you would have put your point across either."

"Perhaps not, Indi. But I certainly wouldn't have alienated you or made your position so untenable that you were forced to resign."

"Fair enough. I'm sorry, what else can I say?"

"Nothing else needed, boyo. Now I'm just getting back from Dublin tonight. I have a family thing tomorrow morning, but right after that I'll be down the AmEx to sort out your resignation. In the meantime, I want you to get out of this part. Head up north or get out of the country. Keep your head down and relax. We're going to have you at a new club by the end of June."

"Well, I've got a mate over in Dovedale who's been trying to get me over to his cottage. Maybe I'll see if I can pop around for a few days."

"Derbyshire, eh? Go have a ball."

                *************************

I can't believe I've been harping on about living by the sea in Brighton. This cottage is peak tranquility. No noise, no pollution, no irritants. Just peace and fresh air from dawn to dusk. The perfect life permeated only by the incessant ringing of my mobile.

                "Oi, Gav."

"When is the last time we spoke?"

                "About two weeks ago, why?"

                "No, it was 12 days."

"Apologies for my poor grasp of the Gregorian calendar and mathematics."

"It's perfectly fine. Now do you remember what I told you when we spoke?"

"Get out of Brighton and head away, keep my head down and let you do your job."

                "And?"

"F*ck sake, mate! What are you on about?"

"I told you that I would find you a new club by the end of the month. Well, I may have found one."

                "Really? What is it, Colchester?"

"I'm at the Crowne Plaza in Nottingham. How quickly can you get here?"

                *************************

"Well, it's been a very enlightening evening. I must say I'm very impressed by your enthusiasm and vision."

                "I'm flattered, Mr. Al-Hasawi."

"There's just one thing that concerns me. Gavin mentioned that you had an acrimonious departure from Brighton. I hope it wasn't anything too bad."

"Not in the least, sir. It was a difference of opinion that made my position untenable. I left because I don't ever want any personal issues to affect the way I do my job or the players I work with."

"It's good to hear that. I like what I've seen and heard here today. Let me discuss this further with my board, and someone will get in touch with you shortly to let you know our decision."

"I look forward to it, sir."

                *************************

"How on earth did you manage to snag an interview with the chairman of Nottingham Forest?"

"Friend of a friend. A few years ago, there were some... issues. I resolved them and never called in a repayment favour. Until now."

                "You beautiful man."

                "Aren't I, though?"

                *************************

Today is probably the biggest day of my life so far. To hell with graduating from university or getting that first job at Brighton. This is bigger than all of those other moments put together. Hell, the last few weeks have been such a whirlwind that I can barely remember it all. Maybe if I read that letter one more time...

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

Simppu - With Bilbao, you've made some big transfers and you must've gotten you a lot of dosh when totaled with your starting budget for your two sales! Azpilicueta was a great piece of business to replace Balenziaga imo.I doubt you'll be losing the 10 point advantage you have in the league anytime soon. Great looking squad by the way! So do you have an attacking midfidler, normal midfielder and a defensive mid in your 4-3-3?

vrabbit - I remember one of my friends telling me about all the great goals Theirry Ambrose scored in his career mode and then I see him in Newport getting a hat-trick on his debut for you! Congrats on the promotion too!

Your Kayserispor career isn't going too badly either although I think I'd start to get fustrated with the inconsistent form of your players. Meh, 4th is still a nice position to be in at the moment.

Cruzerr - Firstly, nice one finishing 4th to get some Champions League action! Season 2?! Is this a prank!? XD You had a nice transfer window and I'm looking forward to how William Carvalho does for you! England job, eh? Interesting. It's also hardly surprising that Lukaku just seems to be in perminent beast mode for you haha. Solanke sounds sick!

Moose - Formations, formations, formations. I really don't know what you should be going for but it's not like the 4-2-3-1 was broke in any way but I really think getting the best out of Payet is your ticket to the BPL championship. The 4-4-2 diamond does sound like a good choice but this doesn't always mean it'll work out on the pitch. Can't wait to see what you end up settling with!

metalhead - Ah, it's the good ol' Russian league cm! I have to say, you've increased my love for the Russian league by quite a bit since you started to join the likes of Ural and Amkar. Amkar definitely have some building to do but their squad certainly isn't a lost cause. Can't wait to see you bring them to new heights! What areas are you going to look to strengthen?

Keano - I love your Accrington career! Reminds me of when I was in the lower leagues so much! Beating Liverpool was something very special even if you did win through a horrendous own-goal! Appart from that, you've been doing fairly well with a couple of draws here and there but they are against the better teams. It looks tight at the top at the moment and I hope you can keep fending off Notts and Portsmouth for the title!

ducks - Walsall! I see you've chosen the 3-5-2 formation also! I'm really looking forward as to how that performs for ya in the long run! Nice win over the Villains too by the way! (I'll just try my best to ignore the loss against Barnet in the COC... it's just sometimes not your day I guess).

indi - First thing i noticed in your above post was the amount of swearing and I instantly knew some sh** was going down! haha Great layout by the way and I really like how the letter from Nottingham Forest was done! I look forward to what you'll be achieving with them. I agree with Tex by the way, should definitely write some sort of novel to accompany this CM!

I'm sorry if something I've said makes no sense or it's full of spelling errors but im extremely tired right now :P I hope I haven't missed anybody or missed any major happenings in someone's career too! Hopefully i've talked about all of the fairly recent updates and haven't missed any by accident.

EDIT: Oh damn, I forgot your Sheffield updates, tex and your Liverpool updates JHedges!! I'm gonna have to get some sleep but I'll make sure not to leave you out next time!

Thanks. I felt like RVN was a good choice as he's already transitioned into coaching and has instant name recognition. Yes, I tried to stop doing Russian careers, but I always get pulled back in, lol. Plus my attention span can be short at times, so I need multiple careers to bounce around from.

Thanks. I'm doing good just to keep it to two. I really have about 5 ideas floating in my head, but these are the two I'm rolling with. Of course, making the jump to Legendary, I may get sacked before too long. We'll see.

Thanks, like I said, I can't quit these Russian careers, haha. Yeah, Amkar's roster is pretty thin, and I don't have much cash. I needed a striker, but I messed around and never sealed a deal, so that will have to wait until January. With so many needs, I'm just trying to grab best available players who are at good value.

IndiBlue: Really well done story style update!, I really like the history of Nottingham Forrest and so hopefully you can have a Clough like run to the top!, Assombalonga is an ex Peterborough United player, has a lot too offer with the right coaching!

StlDucks: I don't consider 29 - 30 year olds dead weight haha, this will be an interesting challenge especially after managing the Spurs for a long time!

10Cabee: The team of your tenure was rally cool, I wasn't around this forum when you started your Exeter career so was good too read through those players little bio. certainly left Exeter City in a great place!...very intuiged where you will end up next as manager!

JHedges: Hopefully can start that climb up the table, Liverpool are better than 12th!

Cruzer: You survived the notoriously strict Everton board seasonal requirements and didn't get fired!, Funes Mori doesn't impress me much either in the FIFA or in real life, he is a very frustrating CB and I don't think he suits the premier league....However Duelofeu is amazing!, and Lukaku is a legit beast! Galloway develops nicely if you get him some training drills!, Okore is a solid CB tho he is a bit clumsy and gives away a penalty every now and then still a great signing! so is Mane is Carvalho if only things were so bright in real life....*sighs*

Moose: You have soooo much $$, I've been along the ride from the start but this is the season for West Ham to do big things!, your commentary was spot on in episode 62!. And it's great to see Payet running around again being dangerous, I voted for Nobles goal of the year and thought Antonio was great last season, Looking forward to #63 and who you decide to bring in!

Vrabbit: Ambrose!, what a season!, I like the pics and the little goal highlights, they're a nice touch!, I've missed a lot of the Kaysepor updates so i'll just stick with the Newport one! I might have too add Ambrose too my shortlist in my own career mode!, Looking forward to your next update, hopefully you lock in another promotion!, I really like when people build a team from the lower leagues, it's a totally different strategy, trying to find players within the budget, some young unknown gems who fit the team and really using the Youth Academy, your doing a great job!

SouthernMetalHead: From the last update i read on your Malaga career, it seems your best players are up there in age, might be time too inject some youth!

Simpuu12: Now if I am correct Athletico Bilbao only bring in players from the basque country?, is this something your going to continue too do?, only bring in say spanish/french players?.. Azpilicuetta is a nice addition, I like Inaki Williams too, sitting nicely top of the table!, Athletic Bilboa have nice home kits, but just horrid away kits!

Keano: Tough choice in Accrington!, great win over Liverpool a win is a win even if it ain't pretty!, absolutely smashed Luton Town!, Santos needs work in the training drills, but he is 6'5 and you can't teach that!.

                              Spoiler

Lmao!! When I first saw that picture I thought "damn Simp must be the big dog around here now" haha and by the way I've gotta tip my hat to you for that career modes summary. Respect! I can see someone checks the forum on the daily! I did see you've got Bulgaria again, looking forward to reading up on how you are molding them into an international superpower! Life is great thanks for asking. Don't know if you guys remember but I am recently married! Got married in April actually. Life's going really well we just adopted a puppy who has been tearing apart our apartment lol in other news I was promoted to captain in my local league's soccer team for this season. I'm a winger but the coach currently has me playing as an overlapping LB. I was feeling really good on the field but with all the wedding planning stuff I lost practice time and missed some games, so now I really need to stop and catch my breath after each time I overlap haha But It's really great to see other familiar names around here still I'll definitely make an effort to read up on the current careers!

As for me, I'm still playing with Guadalajara I don't know why but this year I haven't been able to steer away from them. I guess it's cause this year EA actually edited the players in the league correctly and since my passion is in Mexico's football I can't get away from my beloved Chivas. Kohl was fun but I ended up dropping them and sticking with Chivas only I realized that the only other league that has kept me glued on has been the Football League 2, so I am heavily considering making a return to England and I do have a team in mind already (not Wimbledon) but one of the lower rated sides. In the meantime, I plan on sticking with Guadalajara and just commenting on everybody else's posts instead of posting myself. I would post my Guadalajara career for you guys but it won't exactly be an enjoyable post. You know how on my careers I tended to get attached to some players that were on my squad for a while and I would start low rated players (that somehow delivered results) versus cashing in and purchasing higher rated players? Well imagine that but times a hundred because I'm a huge Guadalajara fan and I stand by almost every player in the squad. Not to mention, that since I only use my budget for the youth academy, whenever there is a player I want to let go of I do research of my own, find a team in Mexico where the player would be a starter at, then trade him to that team PLUS a large amount of cash for a 50 overall player with no potential who would never ever get playing time anywhere. After I do that I release that player to the free agents. And all of this, to make sure the Mexican league stays competitive. Am I crazy? Have I taken FIFA too far?? Perhaps. But I'll tell you what it actually has kept the league interesting. I HATE that EA has programmed the league to rarely make any big purchases, despite having the budget, and when they do it's a player that they don't even need (like purchasing a high rated goalkeeper when they already have a good goalkeeper but no RBs). And to make things worse they also sell their top rated players to a European team (which does happen in real life but not every transfer window like in FIFA). Thanks to the extra work I do, they get a player that they actually need in exchange for a player that will never play, AND they get a huge paycheck so that they can continue to strengthen their squad. At the end of the day, that cash was just going to go to waste in my rarely used transfer budget anyway.

Okay there, I think I've justified my shenanigans enough haha. But anyway, I'm midway through my 2nd season with my current Guadalajara career. We have won the league 3 times in a row (Mexico has 2 short league tournaments per year) but got knocked out of the Copa Libertadores by Argentinian giant Boca Juniors in the quarter finals. I could've seen it coming since I BARELY made it out of the group stage and I was struggling in the league too. However, I was proud to see another Mexican club make it to the semifinals of the Libertadores. I play on legendary and I'm only making purchases that are done by the club in real life, and I've been really busy with the player training feature to better reflect how each player plays in real life. If I'm planning on letting go of a player (usually because they were let go in real life) I use the training feature to bulk them up and then trade them as quality players to a club that needs help in that position. I still use the training feature to develop my own players very much though. I have used the youth academy but I'm mostly focused on the youth academy graduates from real life (which several of them are killing it in the real life starting eleven).

Damn, thIs post was much longer than I expected! Feels good to talk about my FIFA habits again though haha I hope all is well everybody and I'll make sure to pop in here more often and comment on yall's careers!

He really is rock-solid at the back and I really enjoy having him in the squad. Replacing him would be very tough, too, since there really aren't that many Basque defenders out there.

My youth scouting policy is as you said: I only scout French and Spanish players and then act like they are Basque. I also have that one Argentinian in the academy as I scouted a future star but I just pretend that he has Basque roots.

Very old post, but I just wanted to chime in and remind you that even if a player has ZERO basque roots, if he was trained in a Basque youth academy he is eligible to play for Bilbao according to the club's policy. In other words, if a German player was trained in the Osasuna/Sociedad/Bilbao/etc youth academy, he can play for Bilbao as a Basque despite being German with no Basque roots.
