Re: PES 2018 Full Game Impressions

I'm digging the game so far. First time I've purchased pes over FIFA in 10 years. Fifa has just become so stale. I love how much we can edit uniforms. We can even add uniforms to licensed team, which is great. I think this game has more accurate uniforms from the mod community than FIFA has out of the box. Game is fun again and responsive.

I really love day games, and the cutscenes after scoring a goal. Graphics/kits/lighting/ and a genuine looking celebration really adds to the immersion.

        Konami is an embarrassment.

I'm guessing it will be a good week before they find the "problem" with the PC servers.
They may take another week after that to fix it.

So two weeks before we have a playable game.

I love PES, but I actually really enjoyed the FIFA demo. I may just take my refund and only play FIFA this year off principle.

Can someone confirm what camera angle options are available for online play? Past years offline had more than online for some reason.

Has anyone played it in 4K?

It's got it's pros but overall I'd say the fifa 18 demo looks quite a bit better at 4K on a pc than PES 2018 at 4k on the PC and more like a next gen game. Also, on a mid to high ranged rig and video card I can run fifa 18 at 4k with no frame drops at 60 fps while PES struggles at that resolution.

I see an update on Steam today but can't find any info and won't get time to play until later.

Does any one know how lenient Steam is with their refund policy if a game has been played MORE than 2 hours?

They refunded me for 2:45 hrs play or attempt to play that is....
Just explain in the refund write up the issues you had in depth. Game is already mixed in the reviews, so chances are better for refund as well.

Strongly disagree. Did you go into your settings and make sure everything was set on "High". It defaults to Medium even if you set your resolution to 4k.

When I made that change it blew me away. PES looked absolutely incredible.

I do have a very high end PC though. PES on 4k with high settings and I run 140fps.

Re: PES 2018 Full Game Impressions

I'm not seeing a ton of chatter on impressions here after release.

It makes me feel like the response is very tepid this year? Is that the case?

What I saw in the gameplay review from evo-web was enough to cause me not to go out and get the game right away - and I thought it was going to be a slam dunk for me. I was very excited, but that basically killed a lot of the excitement for me.

I know we usually get some work from the community, which I really appreciate, with regard to tactics and instructions and the likes. Is that still going on in the background here? Or no?

I'm willing to take a game at face value (it doesn't have to be super realistic for me, but I prefer that it is), but if it's still just "three passes to the striker" and even less midfield play, well I can get that from my 2017 game.

I'm just looking to be swayed. I do love what I've seen in terms of on-the-ball-play, but Master League doesn't look to be beefed up, the re-gen of Youth players is still there, and end-to-end play seems to be more prevalent rather than less. All those things are keeping me away from a purchase the first week.

Anyone with the game care to comment?

                        OK thanks.

Not sure what I should do. Was really expecting more this year. At the higher levels it seems like the CPU NEVER misses a pass. Sometimes you're just destined to get scored on, there's nothing you can do. So far, I hate it.

About FIFA 18 on PC, on the field the game doesn't render player faces like it did in older versions, they're just blurry heads and the lighting is too artificial and darker than it should be- worse than FIFA 17 and I thought FIFA 17 was too dark at times.

I am sure KG will be putting out a very good review soon but...There is a lot to talk about but I can just tell you straight up I am not that impressed and I am only referring to the gameplay. I have been trying to see if I can get tactics to be adjusted to get some midfield play but it is almost non existent on the two difficulty levels I have been playing on (Top Player & Superstar). There is something deeply rooted in their code that kinda eliminates player individuality. I mean playing against Burnley using Chelsea on SS difficulty and seeing me close/deny space only to have their players pull off perfect back heel passes to get out of trouble just makes me roll my eyes and that is only just the beginning.

There is much more I want to list but I am really trying to give the game a fair chance before writing it off as I haven't had too much time to play it since it has been released. So far I don't see me starting a tactics thread here for this game as I am not sure it is worth my time and I am usually very very forgiving with PES but this year something just feels off.

I really think this says a lot more then you think it might Royce. Those of us who have been on OS, especially the PES boards often know how much time and effort you have put into PES in the past. If you are not impressed and thinking of not even putting the effort in to make a change, that says something major.

I previously said how this year I am disappointed and will most likely be getting FIFA instead. But I have been coming to this thread hoping something would change and more positive reviews will be coming. Sadly, I don't think that is going to happen. I am not sure what Konami did, but this is not the game I was expecting.
