Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
I'm speechless. I'm about to win the double (I assume I will, considering I'm on a 30 game unbeaten run and am in the Polish FA Cup final), just won the league with 2 games still to play, and have just been offered Nikola Zigic. I love you FM!

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Isn't it funny how FM shows its "love" sometimes, Tomas?
An update on my budding career. After I left Ipswich, I was unemployed for a couple months and ended up landing at FC Twente in the Ereidivisie (sp?). They were in rough shape. We were in 3rd behind Fenerbache and Man City with two matches against them in the Europa League group stages. Went 0-2 there. Then after a short string of results in the league, the injury bug hit hard and we lost some key matches. Morale was in shambles and I had to dump guys on frees over the holiday break to reign salaries back into control. On a whim, I applied for the Ghana job, and was offered it. Decided to step away from the daily grind of club managing for awhile, and left FC Twente only 3 months after taking the job.
Ghana are Ranked 29th in the World currently. We got through the second round of the African 2014 WC Qualifying (our first) by placing second behind Gabon in the group (we split home and home, they beat me out on GD by one). In that round, the top 8 out of 12 second placed teams go through. We both beat up on Madagascar and Kenya pretty badly. It is worth noting that Essien(c) and Pantsil, two of my top players, both missed 4 matches in that round due to long-term injuries, including the loss to Gabon.
I don't remember who is all in our final qualifying stage group. I know Togo is the team I have to worry about. Or I should say Adebayor is the team I have to worry about as he has 10 goals in qualification, and about 6 other guys share second on the team behind him with 1 goal.
I'll post the rest of the group when I fire up my save later at home.
EDIT:
Group 5:
Ghana
Morocco
Niger
Togo
Only top team advances to WC.
Upcoming schedule:
Nov 21, 2012 - England (A) - Friendly
Feb 13, 2013 - Ireland (H) - Friendly
Mar 27, 2013 - Niger (H) - WC Qualifying
Jun 8, 2013 - Morocco (A) - WC Qualifying
Sep 7, 2013 - Togo (A) - WC Qualifying
Sep 11, 2013 - Niger (A) - WC Qualifying
Oct 12, 2013 - Morocco (H) - WC Qualifying
Oct 16, 2013 - Togo (H) - WC Qualifying (this match has the potential to be a one-game playoff to see who goes to the World Cup, I'm glad it's at my place)
And assuming I'm still wanted as manager after qualifying...
Nov 16, 2013 - Sierra Leone (A) - Friendly
Nov 20, 2013 - Netherlands (A) - Friendly
The goal set forth by the Ghanian Federation is, obviously, to qualify. Here we go...Last edited by ImTellinTim; 06-01-2010, 08:46 PM.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
I won the double (Polish FA Cup and Ekstraklasa). Sergey Krivets won Polish
POY for the second year running. I won Polish manager of the year (finished runner-up last year). I finished the season on a 32 match unbeaten run, with 12 straight victories. Lewandowski finished third in the league in scoring, even after missing 5 league games through injury. 3 players were named to the Ekstraklasa Season Best XI (Semir Stilic, Lewandowski, and Krivets). I am currently the 9th best American coach of all-time, with a score of 27 (Bruce Arena is first with a score of 156). I signed a 2-year extension, but very well could leave clubs if a big(ger) club offers me a job. Jasmin Buric, my Bosnian keeper who is pretty much ****, had a streak of 788 consecutive scoreless minutes. I think that's it...
Here are some screenshots...

Yep, I keep the motivation widget up during my matches, so I've seen "Bossing the Midfield" a few times, but it's rare. It usually comes up if a center mid creates a couple assists, makes all his key tackles, and sprays nice passes around all match. Another nice one is "Having a Storming Game" for your striker.
Nice work there in Poland. I predict you'll move to a big German club in the near future.
I am enjoying the realtive vacation that is international managment. Lots of waiting around.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
And as a funny side note. In my current save, I've seen this headline many times ever since it started - "Favre could leave Hertha BSC". I just think it's hilarious that the Favre in this game loves to be in the news like the Favre we all know. I wouldn't have mentioned it, but it's appeared 7 times - no lie - since I took over at Ghana. And a few times before that... Will he leave Hertha? Will he not? Who knows? Well, he's still there...

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Does anyone have a competition they simply cannot win? For me it's the DFB Pokal (German Domestic Cup). I've lost in the finals twice and been bounced early twice, despite winning both the league and Champions League the last two seasons. I know it's not as important as what I've won, but it's frustrating to be unable to win, especially when each season I'm expected to take home the trophy.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Reports are that Spartak Moscow are interested in my services. I managed them in FM09 after a spell with Espanyol and some second division Spanish side. I had a great time, so maybe they'll be a possibility. Germany is out of the equation (and Japan for that matter too), because I forgot to delete the fake.inc file in the 10.3 folder; I don't want to play in a country where the international team can't take your players.YNWA

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Is English Cup what the game calls it? Because there is a mod that changes the competition names to their real ones, i.e. European Champions Cup becomes Champions League.Comment

My scout just came back and recommended this guy. His stats look terrible, but his hair...it's almost forcing me to buy him.
