Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***

I decided to start a new game with the latest update with Standard Liege. I signed Fredy Montero, Andrezinho from Internacional and Lucas Piazon.

    Here are the Final standings:

I got the Europa League spot by beating Anderlecht 2-0 in the Cofidis Cup final.

Just Started EURO 2020 with France. Will more than likely be my last International Tourney, unless Mexico comes a calling

I picked this striker up off of a free, curious to read everyone's thoughts on him. He's a bit old, and he doesn't want to learn a PPM (I didn't push the issue for fear of upsetting him). I think he could be an immense power up front, something we dearly need. I've placed red marks next to attributes I consider important for the role, and he seems to be excellent in all of them. Probably should spoiler tag this.
            Spoiler
He's decent but I'd be wary of his 11 finishing, even if he is just going to be an areal threat.

Just won my first league title and it feels great.

Here is the table currently(2 games remaining) I broke the record for most points in a season. I'm hoping to break the record most goals in a season (77)

I also had a 24 game unbeaten streak in the season. I lost to Germinal Beerschot.

So my first season at Portland has ended. It was ugly.

On the bright side, we did make the semi finals of the USOC. Not a great performance, so I set out to prepare the squad for the 2012 season- and am attempting to sneak into that 5th spot for this season.

                  2011's starting lineup:

And the new lineup, Perkins was the keeper last year.

I know that comparison probably doesn't mean much, but just to show the change in formation and personnel.

Perlaza, our best player last year, has been hounding me about a move, and his performance has suffered accordingly.

So far into the 2012 season (3 games), we've won 1 and lost 2, but those were both close games lost to New York and Los Angeles, two of the best teams.

As for the win, well, I'm pretty pleased and anticipatory of the things to come.

man, that first season was really rough. Huge goal differential. I think I'll start a new save with that MLS database you linked to.

Yeah, the offense was pretty horrible. Perlaza was probably the only guy to have more than 3 goals.

Well, hopefully your new striker will score some goals.

It's been quite some time since I updated. I was waiting to try and get to a top league in a my career save, and.....well, I just had one of the **** near collapses ever.

For a refresher, I started at Cosenza in Italy and got them promoted to Serie C (Lega Premira Petrone Divisione B is its official name) before barely keeping them from relegation and jumping Ship to Tijuana in the Liga de Ascenso in Mexico. During this time I took the Tunisia job and got them to the quarterfinals of the World Cup (getting eliminated by Cameroon) and then took the Cameroon job. Hey, if you can't bet 'em, join 'em.

I won promotion with Tijuana, won the ACN with Cameroon, then won the Primera with Tijuana. After winning the Primera and Concacaf CL with Tijuana in my next season, I headed to England to manage Nottingham Forest in the Championship. The team sucked (I joined in February of the following season, and I struggled to stay up). I made several key signings in the off-season, and despite a mid-table prediction, I found myself in first place, up 9 points on the third place team (the top two get automatic promotion) with four games to play. And then the collapse.

I lost the first game 1-0 despite outshooting Bolton 25-1. Then I lost the second game 5-4 on a 92nd minute PK. Then I lost the third game 3-2 after missing a penalty in the 85th minute. And then I got crushed in the fourth 7-2 and lost my starting goalkeeper and both starting strikers to injury. I sat in third place, having to face a playoff to get promoted. I felt so frustrated. I couldn't stomach another year in the Championship. Luckily, my mediocre backup strikers decided now would be a perfect time to alternate hat-trick games and I breezed my way to promotion. Palmero, who just won Serie A, took notice and offered me a job. See ya' later Nottingham Forest! I've hit the big time!

Despite winning Serie A handily, Palmero only has 3 million coming in from sponsors. They offered me a 20 million dollar transfer budget (and this is before the money they'll give me at the start of season expectations) so I'm hoping they'll pony up more money so I can try and remain a dominant force in Italy.

BTW, if Anyone is looking for a midfielder to sign who is going to become an absolute stud, look no further than this guy:

Of all the things to worry about, he is not one.

10 goals in 14 league appearances as we're a couple shy of the halfway mark. He's averaging an 8.36 with 7 goals in his last 5. He appears to have that extra drive in cup matches, too, with 2 goals in his only cup match (4-3 win over new york), but it's too early to tell. <s> We'll see as we look to win the cup play in round twice in a row at Rio Tinto.</s>

1-0 loss in extra time. Oh well, I can focus on the league, now.

Besides that, I'm pleased to announce that if the season ended today we would be in the playoffs by goal differential!

                          Congrats on the big move.

Awesome! That's quite the turnaround. This game loves those turnaround stories, so you should have quite a few job offers coming in shortly.

I know it's not hard winning when you're a big club, but I'm having a blast with Bayern Munich. I didn't sign too many "stars" per se and have a focus of building with development of youngsters. I was able to sign Adler, Schwaab, and da Costa to add to an impressive German core.

                                My best result so far:

Mario Gomez and Muller ripped the Bremen D to shreds and sent poor Mertesacker home as he was embarrassed.

I've won my first 15 games and cruising in the Bundesliga. My only complaint so far is that Frank Ribery can't stay healthy. He gets a stupid little injury almost every other game!!! On a more positive note, Toni Kroos is my star of the future. The guy has scored, passed, and done really really well. He's the one that stirs the Bayern attack and someone I will build around.

I'm going to start getting into my Napoli save some more, but...Bayern is sweet.
