How 'bout this? 3-2 win over River (a comfortable favorite) in the first leg of the Copa Liberatodores final. Oh, did I mention I was without my best 3 players; Sandro (away with the Brazil national team), Rafael Sobis (injured), and Marquinhos (injured). Haha. Gotta love it!

loving the file you pointed me to sox. Maybe you or Bruins can chime in on this question. Is there a way to fix the MLS dp rule so that it's accurate to this seasons change? or will we just have to wait for FM 2011?

also is there a way to check stats during preseason?

You might be able to edit it through the editor, although I don't know the ins and outs of the program.

You'd probably be better served asking that question in the editor's hideaway on the official SI forums.

The single greatest FM game ever. Period. No question. To win the Copa Libertadores. I was up 3-2 going into the away leg. Wow.

thanks I'mtellin and sox. I do see my stats after each preseason match but I was wondering if there was something as detailed as that for your entire preseason combined. I'm still finding my way around the whole GUI, which IMO is not very well designed and user friendly.

as for the editor, I looked into it last night but wasn't comfortable making changes. I'll leave it as is. Don't wanna corrupt my game.

On another note, it's funny seeing Edson Buddle on the pitch ........AS A WHITE DUDE! lol

I just finished my preseason. Didn't lose, but definitely underperformed. Couple draws vs Maryland and UCLA! And a 1-0 win vs "powerhouse" Hollywood United. Are u kidding me?! LOL. I hardly played my starters but still I expect easy wins. Almost had a 2-2 draw in my final friendly that I scheduled vs Chivas Guadalajara, but Landon's equalizer was ruled offside and I lost 2-1.

Season kicks off next vs Colorado. Buddle has been lone bright spot in the preseason. I better examine my tactics and analyze opponents a bit better.

Help!

How do you assign a player as a DP in MLS?

I'm coming to the end of my second season with Seattle in MLS. Freddie L has been signed by Bolton as a free transfer (not much protest on my part, that guy misses WAY to many shots and has sat on the bench most of the season). I'm going to be able to sign a DP, but I can't figure out how to do that. Would love to grab a higher profile CAM in the off season, somebody who actually scores goals. Ideas?

On a side note, two points out of first place in the Western Division and an 11 game non losing streak. This game is awesome.

I'm pretty sure that when you go to offer him a contract, one of the contract types is "Designated Player"

I would imagine that's why. Perhaps you could trade someone away for an extra DP slot, or let him leave.

It helps if you learn how to read.....(from the FM10 online manual)

The MLS Designated Player Rule allows each team to sign one player that is considered outside of the Salary Cap regulations per season. $415,000 of a DP’s contract counts towards the Cap, with the remainder written off and imposed on the team’s owner.
Each team has one DP slot, which can be traded as an asset, but teams can only have a maximum of two. For the second player, $335,000 of his contract goes against the Cap, not $415,000.


I read that you could have two (as in real life). You can only have one and trade for another in the game. Makes sense. Ok, now I can't wait for FL to leave. Worthless has been a good way to describe his time as a Sounder in my game.

I tried to sell Freddie in my first year as well and the team went nuts. So I took him off the transfer list. I'm just lucky that he only had a two year contract so now he's just going to leave on his own.
