Well, if this is correct, you are only loading one league in the demo. I'm not even sure if the tiers below you are loaded. So you cannot view other league's stats, get jobs there, and some players will not exist in your world (I am not completely sure how this works, but for example say you don't load the MLS, some American players will not be in the db, which means if you pursue the USA International job, you will have less of a player pool), and its just plain fun to check up on the results of other leagues from time to time.

About to start a game. Probably nPower Championship side, with England down to League 2, Serie A, Ligue 1, La Liga, Dutch Eredivisie, Russian League, Portugese League playable.
I'm thinking either Leeds, Watford, or Preston. Any suggestions??
EDIT: Using this, Portsmouth has been chosen randomly.Last edited by jb12780; 01-13-2011, 02:04 AM.GT:jb12780

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Well, in my last update, after getting Cosenza promoted into Serie B, I left them towards the end of the next season to go coach newly promoted Tijuana in the Mexican Primera. We were only supposed to battle for relegation, but I lost in the final of the opening stage and just won the closing stage. This means that I have a two leg championship coming up to see if I can win the Primera. I've qualified for the CL, and the board is absolutely delighted.
The thing, Mexico's league setup has it so that my next match is with Tunisia in the WC (against Canada), and then I play the first leg of the championship back in Mexico. Then back to the WC for my second match, and then back to Mexico for leg 2. It's a good thing this game doesn't take logistics and flight schedules into account, or else I'd be screwed.
Anyway, just played Canada in the first game of group play. Having drawn Ireland and Italy as well, my thought going in was that Canada would be a win, Italy a loss, and my prospects for advancement would hinge on the Ireland result.
But things didn't go exactly as planned.
I drew Canada despite having way more chances. Luckily for me Italy and Ireland also drew 0-0, so after one match everyone was tied at 1 point.
I then hopped a plane back to Mexico and won the first leg (home) of the Championship against America 4-1. Directly after the game I flew back to Brazil and took on Italy.
I was getting dominated in the match, down 1-0 on a first minute goal, and midway through the first half I switched to counter and completely turned it around, stealing a huge victory. Canada and Ireland drew 1-1, so I can advance to the knockout stages with a win or tie. After the Italy match I flew back to Mexico one last time and beat America 2-1 to win the Primera 6-2 on aggregate! Yes! But no time to celebrate, time to fly back to Brazil and face Ireland.
As you can see, it was an even match, but I squeaked out a narrow 2-1 win and won the group. Italy beat Canada 1-0 to advance as well. I haven't played the knockout stages game yet, but I will update once I do. Here is the tree:
As you can see I drew Cameroon, and I think that is a very winnable game. I'm expecting Germany and then Brazil, so if I can beat Cameroon, that's likely as far as I'll get. But I beat Italy, so who knows?Comment

Go to an image site like Photobucket or Imageshack, upload a screenshot (alt+F9 when in-game, then go to screenshots folder in the FM 11 folder in my documents) and then post the forum code (the image site should give you this, if it does not, put the link to the picture inside tags) into your post.
Hope this helps.Comment

How bout that 3rd time's a charm!!
Although very early, I'm hoping for promotion. Got knocked out of the Carling Cup in 2nd round by a League One side.
Leeds is the team at the bottom not shown.
EDIT: Won manager of the month in August. Also have been rumored for just about every job in MLS.Last edited by jb12780; 01-15-2011, 10:34 PM.GT:jb12780

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
If you mean free transfers, you can filter players on the "player search" screen. You can look for expired/unattached to find players without contracts, or you can search for "expiring in ____ months" to find players who are eligible to move on a free at the end of their respective season. For most of the top leagues that run September to May, you can search in January for contracts expiring in 6 months.Comment

I just signed Super Mario, who I guess City just released.
Well I can't register him, and I demoted him to the reserves to get game action, and he throws a fit.
And even worse, was that I gave michael owen a highest earner clause, when I signed him.Comment

Mo, Mario throwing a fit?? Who would have thunk it?!
And in other news, Portsmouth is a mess. I was under a transfer embargo untill Sept. 30th, and have to manage somewhere between 2-3 games a week with a rotation budget of about 16-17 players.
The last two months, I have been 1.54 million in the red. My wage budget is about 450k, and transfer budget is about 60k. Also, I've been hit with a serious injury bug. Somehow, I'm 4th in the league.
Looking for a young striker and CM who I could bring in on loan. Any suggestions??GT:jb12780
