Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
When the qualifying with Canada was over, the game automatically made me resign as head coach. So I'm guessing their first team manager is going to manage them in the Olympics.
As for my quest for 3. Liga promotion with Offenbach, I just clinched a playoff spot, and as you can see from the standings, it would take a 2011 Red Sox collapse for me not to gain automatic promotion, so things are looking good.

Well I decided to roll with The Villians. My first big result, it may be pre season but it should boost my teams morale.

Wow - that's a result. My brother in law loves playing with Villa so it should be a good save. Too bad Villa couldn't do that IRL thoughComment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Thanks for the heads up. I'll probably restart it. I really want to start out with a lower level side like League 1 or something, but those can be really tedious.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Started my Real Madrid save. My goals are to develop youth and increasing the Spanish content in the squad. Of course, having a good base of superstars doesn't hurt.
Ins:
Radja Nainggolan
Iker Muniain
Outs:
Kaka (loan)
Lass
Arbeloa
I like Kaka, but his wages were insane and he wasn't going to be starting in any event. Milan offered to loan him with an option to buy for 28 million so I accepted. Never been a huge fan of Lass so PSG bought him and Arbeloa also was sold as I wanted to develop Carjaval. Going to try and get Enzo Zidane some games to see how he developsComment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Well, maybe you could pick a team slated to finish 5th or 6th, and then you're right in the midst of a promotion challenge while not being in control of the best team. Might be exciting.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Great stuff Ozil, sending Kaka on loan sounds like a good move.
It is so interesting to see the wage differences between league, but I am having fun trying to build a good team with such a small budget like Feyenoord's. In my second season im in the Europa league Group play at the moment. I got placed in a tough group of Aston Villa, VfL Wolfsburg and Olympique Marseille. So far I drew to Aston Villa and lost to Wolfsburg I am hoping I can pick up a result against Marseille to keep us challenging in the Group play but it is looking unlikely with the injuries that some of my key players picked up.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Final 3. Liga standings:
Winning promotion was great, but I don't think Offenbach's finances are good enough to allow me to mount another promotion challenge, and it will be tough for the team to stay up. I'm hoping I can find another team to latch onto, but given the fact that I started at Sunday League experience and my rep is only national, that might be difficult. So who knows. I might have to try and pull off a 2. Liga miracle next season with Offenbach.
Edit: And we set a record for most points scored in the 3. Liga.
Edit take 2: Rexis, 1860 got relegated, so clearly they had a much worse manager than you.Last edited by rsnomar05; 12-24-2011, 11:13 PM.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
My Leeds quest began tonight. Only move I made so far is a loan of Chris Martin from Norwich. My First Match was a back and forth (literally) draw against Cardiff:
Next up I had Shrewsbury in the 1st Round of the FA Cup. We should have had a 1-0 win, but a defensive snafu led to an equalizer. So we needed Extra Time
My Boys responded well to my pre-extra time talk though:
Hopefully I can get this squad working well together. I just lost Andy O'Brien 3 months with a torn hamstring. The team is learning the tactics I've set forth pretty well. Of course I've been using a High Workload in the preseason and early on. Will probably back it down now that we're into league and cup competitions.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Germany got knocked out of the European Championships (Euro 2012) by Ukraine, in the quarter final. They couldn't beat Poland and Croatia in their group (Germany, Poland, Montenegro, Croatia) matches. I thought this was very strange for the German side I saw in recent matches (IRL).
So curious me went ahead and took a peek at their roster and what I found is very shocking. None of the 23 players registered for the biggest tournament in Europe is signed to a club. Like WTF?
Here is their squad:
Zdravko Aust, Dirk Urbainski, Tobias Lott, Bjorn Klappert, Benjamin Neumann, Andreas Sautner, Klaus Dotterweich,Markus Gindorf, Andreas Schumski, Phillip Boller, Frank Schafer, Timo Wirtz, Elias Mohr, Leon Schafer, Guisseppe Ehlert, Manfred Ates, Pascal Kobatz, Hans-Jurgen Wenninger, Olaf Hasenkamp, Sascha Hasanovic, Soren Otte, Phillip FilingerLast edited by Rexis; 12-26-2011, 08:21 PM.ST.
