    1860 Munich update:

... just completed the preseason winning 4/5 matches. I didn't even care about my tactics until the last game, which we won 4-0.

We lost three players (one starter and two role players) in the offseason, but give the squad depth with new additions.

    SIGNINGS

Ahmed Hassan, 37 year old CM - He was one of my favorite players growing up. Paid Zamalek £250K

Isaac Cuenca, 21 year old attacking mid whom ESPN lists as a key player (youth) to watch in 2012. I don't know how Barcelona let this starlet hit free agency.

21 year old Rolf Feltscher joined from Parma on loan.

Hans Mulder, 25 year old utility midfielder joined from Willem II for £130K

Chelsea loaned me a 19 year old GK names Matej Delac and 21 year old Brazilian striker Fabinho is on loan from Udinese.

Starting goalie Tim Ochs got injured during the first training session of the year. He is expected to miss the next 5 weeks - 2 months.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***

I have resigned my post at FC Nordjaelland to take the Seattle Sounders job! Time to get to work. They are two years removed from a CONCACAF Champions League win, but are coming off a disappointing season, squeaking into the playoffs and losing in the conference semis.

I'm enjoying the different contract structure of MLS. I know it's probably not exactly perfect, but it's new for me because I haven't done much managing in MLS in past FMs. I also enjoyed scouting for the two drafts.

        Question...

Does the game start date matter?

I am starting out a MLS team but want to start in Jan 2012 rather than Jan 2011 so I set the game start date to China...

Will that screw anything up? Being that the season of 2011 is basically being skipped.

Also, If I turn the first transfer window off so teams play with their current roster until the next transfer window, does it disable the first transfer window forever or is it just for that one time?

And does it apply for the draft in the MLS also?

Not sure if anyone is managing MLS, but wondering if anyone has heard of this as a potential bug...

I have accepted a couple offers for players in exchange for allocation funds/draft picks. Then after I accept the offer, nothing happens. The team that wanted the player doesn't offer them a contract and they don't seem to even enter into negotiations because they never reject any offers.

Hope this isn't the case, because that would kind of put a damper on my save.

What sets FM apart from those is the 3d engine that allows to watch games unfold, at least for me anyway. Give me NFL & NCAA Football like this and I would just throw out my consoles.

Good look with the Seattle gig!

I've been thinking about starting a MLS save but redoing the MLS to get rid of the cap and a few other things to make it more competitive globally, not sure if it is possible though

FINALLY started a save on this. Started at Villa because well...they need the help. Sold Dunne, trying like hell to sell Collins but no one is biting. Brought in Aaron Hughes and Issac Vorsah to replace them. They aren't the big hulking giants that Dunne and Collins are, but they more than make up with that in covering and athletic ability.

Now I hope I have enough ability to score to get me into Europe.

                  Another question..

Is the only benefit of having a league "playable" instead of "view only" is to be able to manage in that league? I plan on loading ALOT of nations and most of the tiers but only care about potentially managing in the top leagues across the globe.

But I dont want to potentially loose out on anything. My Mac is more than capable of running it if needed.

Playable means exactly what it says. If you put it to view only, you cannot coach there.

                      1. To your earlier question (didn't see it answered), start date doesn't matter, though as you said you'll be missing out on the 2011 season.

                      2. To your second question, you can add leagues to your save as you progress, so I would only add the leagues in which I either planned on playing (since you can change your mind later) and the leagues I didn't want to play in but wanted to simulate (view-only). If a league isn't at least viewable, the game will not simulate that league. For the most part that doesn't matter, but it can make a difference when, for example, Italy is not playable or view-only, and thus the league isn't simulated so their CL representatives are chosen based on club reputation.

Just to clarify on the non-viewable/playable leagues. Players in countries that you don't load at all still accumulate "stats", and players on those teams that are still in your database do progress and regress. It's just that you can't see anything about the league or the results of individual matches. I find that if your comp can handle it, that loading all the leagues as at least viewable is what I prefer. I can get lost for an hour just checking out the little world created in my save. Especially when you get a bunch of years in.

Yea I agree about getting lost checking stuff around the world. I started a test save just to get the hang of everything (the demo would let me complete the tut for some odd reason)

Im thinking about setting the progress fixture option to background becuase Im getting so lost into checking everything and its cool seeing the league progress in real time!

Edit- using viewable only, do lose out on viewing highlight on matches that doesnt involve my team?

Just curious, did they improve the sim engine this year? I feel like it's much more responsive to my commands this year IMO.

Has anyone played around with the editor?

Im thinking about making promotions/relegations between the MLS, USL Pro and NASL so basically changing the landscape of American soccer. Im hesitant to try it as I dont want to screw things up.

I would like to keep the allstar game, trades, drafts, playoffs and etc.

I dont like how the MLS is set up (in real life) especially for the playoffs.

I see its possible but I dont know what I am doing lol.
