    Well yeah, that is to be expected. Play negative. Use the counter mentality. If you have any speedy or all around great strikers, set him to poacher and play something like a 4-5-1 or a 5-4-1. I haven't seen your team, mind, so I can't really give any specific advice.

      This is something I've always wondered but...

      Rigid = negative football

      Fluid = attractive attacking football?

        I don't think that's necessarily the truth, but that's generally how I work the system.

        Let's say you have a couple of central mids who are good at marking and tackling. If you set their mentality to defensive, set thier creative freedom to high, and go for a fluid play style, I assume you would see them dropping back into a defensive role.

        It could also go the opposite direction if have some overzealous attackers; some rigidity built into the tactic might help them stay in place and concentrate their efforts.

        If you go rigid you won't be playing like Barca, obviously, but there is more than one way to play attacking football.

          Just gave up 3 goals to Wycombe, who had scored 2 goals in their first 11 matches. Still in 1st though.

            So yeah, I won my 4 straight League Title. So as the new season approaches, I see that I've been made the 4th choice among the bookmakers to win the league.

            Guess I'm going to have to send a message to those bookmakers, again.

              Start playing with a better team so you have more room for error and can familiarize yourself with the game. Then, once you've learned the ins and outs, go back to the Polish team.

                In a bit of a quandry...

                My team is in 1st place, but because of the inherited debt/loan payments, I'm still losing money...about $1 million a month if I don't sell anyone off. I'm about $350k in the hole right now, so I'm considering selling one of my better players when the winter window opens. The candidates:

                18 y/o AM Jonjo Shelvey (really want to keep, is tearing it up right now)
                28 y/o ST Roberto Colautti (my best striker, but worth the most and older)
                29 y/o ST Michael Mifsud (scored 30 goals last year but worth the least)
                21 y/o ST Serges Deble

                Colautti would be the obvious choice, but playing Mifsud and Deble together would be a disaster IMO considering they're both extremely short (5'7" and 5'5"). I like to have Colautti because he's bigger and is excellent on headers. Any suggestions?

                  Check their jumping stats. Height is irrelevant in the match engine, it governs the jumping stat. Thinking of jumping as how high a player's head can get, now how high he can jump.

                  I player with 20 jumping will out jump a player with 13 jumping regardless of height.

                    Wow, seriously?

                    Seriously, I learn something new everyday about this game. Never knew that.

                      Yeah, there's so much to know about this game. I actually just learned that w month or so ago. Obviously the taller a player the higher his jumping stat is, but in the match engine's eyes Zigic isn't dangerous because he's tall, it's because his jumping stat is high.

                        I'm going for five in a row right now, and every year I'm predicted to finish second, even though my squad gets better EVERY YEAR. The bookmakers in FM can be pretty dumb sometimes.

                          They both have a 5 jumping rating. Deble's value took a huge hit too for some reason...was around $1.2 million and is now at $275k.

                            Did you buy Deble for $1.2 million? The game keeps players at the amount that was paid for them in any transfer during the current season. Their values are then recalculated by the game later to show their "true" value.

                              5? Out of 20? Ship one of them off, then. You have to have better areal threats lying on the bench.
