Yeah, 5's are disastrous. Especially having two. I've found having players great at aerial ability is huge in this game. I score a ton off corners and before, when my team's heading was poor, I got killed on set pieces. I would definitely say goodbye to one of the 5's.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Another chokejob completed. I was sitting comfortably in 2nd place with 10 matches to go, proceed to lose 5 or 6 of them and fall to 3rd. Draw Norwich in the first round of the playoff, lose the first leg 4-2, win the second leg 1-0. Stuck in League One hell.
I think I gotta call this save quits.Comment

Playing the 11 demo and received a backroom advice msg of, player x and y's salaries don't match their abilities and the money could be better spent elsewhere.
Their contracts run until 2012 or 13 and one of them is on loan. Do you redo their contract or release them outright?'Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that.'-Bill ShanklyComment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Unfortunately because of my financial situation I had to ship off a few players. The chairman went above me and sent Shelvey to Ajax for $2.5 million, and I had to send Roberto Colautti to Bolton for $4 million. I don't have any money to spend on transfers so I'm stuck searching for free guys. I did manage to get Neil Eardley from Blackpool to help out my defense, though.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
1. Start with a good team. Man City, Man Utd, and Barcelona are my top 3 choices to start with. Their infrastructure is excellent and their squads are rich and strong. As mentioned before, you have more margin for error. Once you know the game well enough, then challenge yourself a little more.
2. Go to the official game forums and do some research. There are lots of threads there to help new players as well as managing lower division teams
3. Before you hit continue after you start the game, decide your philosophy. How do you intend to improve and build your team? What style? If you have a clear idea of what you want to do and stick to it, you'll have a good chance of succeeding in the gameComment

Good news: luckily there was another copy of it that stopped right before my two promotion playoff games...lets try this again.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
So I'm going to put my long save on the backburner, maybe permanently.
Instead, I might pickup a Serie C2 team and see how far I can get them by signing only Italians, or something similar in a different nation. I haven't got it all worked out yet, but I want a challenge to tide me over to FM12.Last edited by Whitesox; 09-06-2011, 08:05 PM.Comment
