I feel your pain, I too had a 3-0 aggregate lead with away goals and still lost.

        Ouch Nomar that's painful.

I started off the season with three wins and a +8 goal diff with my Liverpool squad. We've beaten West Ham, Arsenal, and Fulham so far in the young season.

Angel Di Maria had a great first goal for the club that I posted over in the highlights thread. A strike from about 30 yards maybe...

I've contacted President Obama about ensuring Lyon are no longer on the map and thus can't be in FM 13, so I'll keep you guys posted as to whether or not he listens.

On an unrelated note, in the online save Jovetic wanted out of Fiorentina, so I submitted a low-ball offer, figuring it was at least worth a shot, and it got rejected. Then, out of nowhere, my board decided they wanted Jovetic on the team, and without my consent (though I wasn't complaining), negotiated a $43mil transfer and $9mil p/a contract. Has anyone seen this before? I thought you had to ask the board to negotiate transfers for you. I know the board can sell a player against your wishes, but I've never heard of them buying a player for you without you initiating things.

Of course, this being FM, the game that hates me, Jovetic got injured for two months on his debut, and he was subbing in for Aguero, who was also on his debut and had just gotten injured for two months.

Well, you are at Arsenal. The fragile ligaments coefficient is really high in the formulas for your matches.

Oh how I hate work permits. I wanted to sign Odion Ighalo, a player that I highly recommend, for £950,000 but I can't sign him because his damn work permit keeps getting rejected. And now AC Milan signed him to a co-ownership deal. :

Well I got my first draw in the League. Then came the wonderful Champions League:

I defeated Panathinaikos 3-0. In other Group match Dortmund lost to Nomar's Lyon 1-0, and Shinji Kagawa left the match with a pretty serious injury.

Here's the rest of the day's matches:

If I were you I'd start at a big club just to learn the ropes of the game. This way even if you're running a bad tactic or using bad touchline instructions, your players will have enough quality to help mitigate the damage. This will allow you to learn the game while playing around with tactics/instructions and finding a system that works best for you, as opposed to running with lesser-skilled players who can't overcome poor tactics and will get you fired.

I first started with this series back when it was called Championship Manager and you only got to see text commentary during matches. There were no touchline instructions and instead you controlled your team's play through a series of sliders (for example, you would push a slider to the right for a longer (direct) passing style or to the left for a shorter passing style). Even though the system was less advanced, it still had far more depth than the lest five Fifa's and PES's combined, still had great realism, and was still something many first-time users found daunting. Things were easier for me, however, because I started with a stacked Arsenal squad who could pretty much win matches on their own. After a season spent learning the game and experimenting with different styles of play, a season in which I beat Tottenham 8-2 on the final day of the season to win the league (SUCK IT, SPURS!), I then moved into lower league management and found success. But had I not started at Arsenal, I probably would have been canned after 9 matches as well.

How many times have Barca won La Liga in everyone elses save? Every year they seem to come out of nowhere to win. In my most recent season with Athletic the were in 12th place at the beginning of February, 18 points behind me in first. It is now April 14th and the are 4 points ahead of me sitting at the top. Neither us nor Real Madrid can win a league game all of a sudden.

I'm in my 3rd season at Real Madrid and have won the league both times. In the 7 seasons prior to me arriving in Spain, Barca won the title twice, RM twice, and At. Madrid three times.

In my 2+ seasons in Spain, Barca have dropped out of the CL and are currently in 6th. At. Madrid is now my main rival. Like with Man City in our online save, Barca has spent lots of money on poor signings and have sold away top talent. I'm not complaining, since it's made my job of winning the league easier, but it's surprising nonetheless.
