Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
My first trophy came from a FA Cup Final vs. West Ham:
Spoiler
Now I'm still in the predicament I was in earlier with being in 3rd place and only 3 games left to play. Just lost Glen Johnson to injury for the remainder of the season and my boys are starting to tire out.

Spoiler
First season at Liverpool under wraps. Finished 3rd with an FA cup to add to my trophy case. Not too bad a finish. Obviously I would have liked to have had the title but Man Utd. just shot like a cannon from the start.
At least we have Champions League Football back at Anfield.
EDIT:
FM just keeps getting more uncanny when it comes to Simulation. Chelsea actually won the champions league over Barcelona 1-0 in Extra Time.Last edited by ChubbyBanana; 06-03-2012, 12:52 AM.Comment

But that sucksComment

I did sign Angel Di Maria from Real Madrid. He should help fill a void left by Thiago who had to go back because his loan ended and I couldn't negotiate the move permanently.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
So Fabio Capello asked me to Coach the England U-23s through the Summer Olympics. This is my first time dealing with an international type job. Trying to deal with this and get my Liverpool squad ready for the upcoming season with transfers and such is quite a bit of work. I'd say we're doing ok though. I kind of let my assistant select who I took to the Olympics. He selected Rooney, much to Mo's disapproval.
We drew our first Group match against Brazil, but then we handled Iran pretty easily:
Next up we had New Zealand, which we defeated 2-0. That qualified us for the quarter-finals. Our Goals were 13 For 1 Against in the Group Stage. We face Ghana in the quarterfinals. Here's the rest of the pairings:
I'll keep y'all updated how that works out for us.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Well I had to backtrack a little because I had some issues with my save. Either way I still left after the 4th season with Chelsea. Not Bayern this time as they weren't hiring this time. I was eyeing the US job but they fired Ben Olsen and hired a replacement immediately. After that I was going to just stick around and wait but Mourinho dropped his Real job and went back to Chelsea. Immediately Real offered me the job and despite my hate for the club, I took it.Money talks.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Just finished my first season in my Man City save. Finished 6 points back of Man U, who won a treble (League, Carling, and CL). Nasri and Sliva finished 1-2 in the PFA Player of the Year. Sergio finished 3rd in the Young Player of the Year. Kompany joined Nasri and Sliva in the Team of the Year. Tevez finished 2nd in the Golden Boot after missing pretty much the last two months.
This offseason I pretty much just want to get stronger depth so we can finish better in the cups (6th round in the FA and quarters in the CL). Dzeko is probably gone after not producing, so I need to choose if I want to keep Emmanuel who scored 20 in 23 games or grab someone new, while grabbing backups at AMC and Left Back, and finding someone to go along with Kompany.
EDIT: Well, Spurs made the decision for me.Last edited by justblaze09; 06-04-2012, 02:58 PM.Lions, Tigers, Pistons, Michigan

Speaking of which we beat the Black Stars 5-0. I thought it would be a lot closer than that. My team really just never slowed down from the first whistle. One of them was an OG:

Here's how the other squads did. I think we take on Mexico next. USA lost
