Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***

Finished my 1st 2nd season with Pompey in L2. Original save got corrupted.

We finished 1st and the biggest change I made was signing or loaning players with high teamwork and workrate.

    1st: 31W-13D-2L 105G 41GA +64GD 106PTS (L2 Record)

CF: Patrick Agyemang: 36G 14A 11PoM 7.66R (POY & Top GS) I think he had at least 6 hat tricks during the season.
    CF: Ryan Bird 18G 7.59R
W: Ricky Holmes 13G 8A 7.07R (ended the season w/torn calf muscle 4-5 months out)
    W: Andy Barcham 10G 15A 6.97R
    W: Brent Wiage Kissi 6G 16A 7.05R (on loan)

We played 4-2-3-1 control at home and 4-1-2-2-1 counter on the road with 4-2-3-1 Deep against strong offenses.

Time to reload for L1 and unload some dead weight and find some new coaches.

'Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that.'-Bill Shankly

That's my favorite right now too.

Has anyone tried the Steklo yet? I saw it was out.

I'm using Steklo. I love it - though if you like seeing the entire badge in the bar up top I wouldn't recommend it.

Best skin out there is Nuu Rebooted, IMO. There's more screens at the link:

I also use Steklo, but after the patch there's some issues like this.

That is a beautiful skin, might have to try it out.

I tried "Half back" and "Sweeper Keeper" for the first time, and really love both.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***

Decided to stay with Tottenham to try and win the Champions League.

Off to a good start; just got to the January window, hoping Barcelona or Real Madrid don't come in and try to lure Lamela or Eriksen. Sitting in 2nd on the table, 1 point behind Man City. I'm scoring goals like crazy; I think I have 52 through 19 games.

Bought Victor Wanyama in the offseason, he seems to be a pretty good anchor in the midfield next to Sandro.

A young striker I'd suggest: Enes Unal. I bought him from Busaspor (sp?) in Turkey last offseason, because Adebayor was getting old, and Soldado just wasn't quite cutting it, so I didn't want him to be my only main option at striker.

Unal netted 5 goals in 13 games for us last year, this year he is our main striker, he's leading the EPL in goals with 13 through 17 games.

He is not even 20 years old yet (he turns 20 in May. Calendar just turned from Dec. 2016 to Jan. 2017) and he already is on par with Soldado when it comes to technical skills, his finishing is 17 already! Soldado has the edge in mental skills, but obviously Unal will improve in that category as he gets older.

I payed $7 mil for him, and I think it will end up being a hell of a deal.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***

Managed to escape my Champions League group with Real Madrid, Monaco and Fenerbahce. Lost to Madrid and Monaco away, beat them both at home. and won both against Fenerbahce. Undefeated in league so far, draws at home against Dortmund and Bayern, though I'm expecting to lose those away games. Really impressed that the team hasn't slipped up against weaker opposition, like so many of my teams seem to do. Our DFB Pokal run has been less than impressive, gone to penalties twice, both against lower division teams.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***

Three wins from a Treble. First up, if I beat Union Berlin, we'll accidentally win the Bundesliga. Winning the League was never my personal objective, obviously it's nice, but I never thought Bayern would fall off like they did, with 10 games left, I checked the table and realized that it was really only us two at the top. Now the last game of the season, we're a point up on Bayern as they've drawn 3 of their last 4.

In the DFB Pokal, we were blessed with easy draws all the way through, didn't play a Bundesliga team til the Semi-Final, and even then it was Kaiserslautern, we face Bayern in the decider. This was my goal, I wanted to win the Cup at the very least, I figured Dortmund/Bayern would be taking the plaudits in league, so I figured I'd put my eggs in this basket.

Lastly, the Champions League, I survived the group stages by managing to win at home, and snatch an away victory from Fenerbahce, then faced off against a trio of Premier League teams, first facing my favored club in Arsenal, managed to turn a 2-0 away defeat over at home and win 3-0, then against BPL Holders Man Utd, I managed to draw 3-3 away, and then won 3-0 at home, I expected to lose against United, but the draw then pitted me against Champions League holders Man City, I lucked out, per say, Aguero was injured both matches, they also fielded what I felt was a pretty weak squad, I won 1-0 away, and secured a 1-1 draw at home and passage to the Champions League Final against.... Fellow Group A participant, Real Madrid. Interesting to note, I sold a lot of my former Inter players to Madrid(and Monaco, who was of course, also in my group in the UCL)

A much more successful season than I could've ever imagined, to top it off, Inter's now on it's third manager since I resigned two years ago and are sitting SEVENTH in Serie A

Beat Union Berlin 1-0, Bayern 1-0, Madrid 2-0.

Now it's time for the bids to come rolling in for all of my players. Oversell, underbuy, build new stadiums.
