Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***

I've finally had some time to get back into my start-from-nothing career save. Being a coach with low ratings and sunday league experience is always an uphill battle, with failures at Woking in the Conference Premier(2014-15), Bytovia in Poland's 2nd tier(2015-16) and Dungannon in Northern Ireland's 2nd tier(2016-17).

Thankfully jobs are still attainable since I load a large amount of leagues, including the fictional Minnesota "League du Nord" that ITT mentioned earlier in the thread(Minnesota replaces Faroe Islands in the game world). I landed a job at the University of St. Thomas in the 4th tier - the Southern Minnesota Regional League.

As is tradition, FM decides to injure my best strikers in the final friendly before the season starts and now I've got scrubs up top for the first month of the season. It may be a struggle, but only a game of FM's caliber could make it an enjoyable struggle!

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***

2019/2020 summer transfer window could not have gone stranger by the end of it.

First thing that happened was losing my star right back Kaderabek for £35.5m to City, who I replaced with Steeve Yago for £11.5m. Things got a little quieter with Papadopoulos leaving for £14m to Porto and Eros Medaglia to Real Madrid for £6.5m. In the meantime Balanta kicked up a fuss so I bought Brazilian centre back regen Washingtom Cesar of Fluminense for £28m.

What followed made me unbelievably annoyed. After a few months of trying to convince Balanta to stay at the club and early July I admitted defeat and decided I would sell him, only if I had the right offer come in. A few teams came in with offers of £25m or so which seemed way lower than his talents deserved, so I rejected them and waited. Then, Bayern come in with a £10.5m offer, and my board decided to go above my head and sell him. For £3m more than he was originally signed after he'd improved drastically in his time at the club.

So I signed Joe Gomez as backup to my centre backs and Emile Hojbjerg for £33m, which I think is a bit steep but he might prove worth it. This allowed Lucas Romero to move to Bayern for £30m, followed a few weeks later by Max Meyer.

On deadline day I was still a little bare up front so began looking for strength. Zakaria Bakkali was signed on a free and Ciro Immobile came on a loan from City after I ran out of money for my number one target. With an hour and a half left I looked around for another loan to flesh out my attacking options, and Arsenal had Barkley listed for loan. Without even thinking I accidentally put in a £4m bid. Ludicrously they accepted it and I had myself Ross Barkley for a huge bargain.

Forgot to register him for my Premier League squad. Sigh.

We are about at the same point in Liverpool saves and eerily have bought a lot of the same players.

Sokratis and Balanta is my center back pairing. I have Meyer. And Gil Romero.

Balanta is automatic for me, has performed well in the last few versions of FM. Lucas Romero as well although this is the first year I've had Gil Romero. World class still but my centre midfield pairing is ridiculous.

          Current lineup is
          GK: Rulli
RB: Ajayi (Nigerian regen found as a free agent, despite being ridiculously good)
CB: Karlsen (Danish regen from my academy partnership with Brondby)
CB: Washington Cesar (Brazilian regen signed for £28m)
          LB: Jonathan Silva
          CM: Jordan Henderson
CM: Frederic Fleury (Belgian regen signed from Genk, 21 and the second best midfielder in the world)
AMR: Angelo Henriquez (United reject haha)
          AMC: Coutinho
AML:: Sterling (listed in club information as a legend)
          STC: Berardi

Such a strong first team and my bench is top class too.

Another season is in the books. 2021/22 season was a mixed bag for Cardiff after winning the Premier League and the Champions League the previous season.

We went for mostly Youth in the transfer market with the exception of one, bringing Gareth Bale back home.

            Spoiler

Dumont is a 22 year old regen from belgium, PSG transfer listed him. He's a 5 star CA, world class player.

Lost the Charity Shield, Won The Super Cup and Club World Cup. Went out early in the League and FA Cup.

            Won the League running away.

            The League awards though, lololol

In the Champions League, we made our 3rd straight Final, going up against Ajax this time. It was a scoreless first half, then right after the break, Ajax went down to 10 men. Soon after we took the lead. And we held it till the 88 minute when Ajax scored off a corner.

So to extra time we went for the 3rd straight UCL final. Nobody did anything, so to PKs we go.

Ajax make the first 5, Cardiff make their first 4, up steps Gareth Bale, and boom, wide right. Ajax wins. Ugh
Don't you EVER read my blog? It's gotten a lot better.

Never played this before, but it seems awesome and thoroughly in-depth. Is this game as cool as it sounds? Any glaring bugs/glitches? Is it worth the price? Any info is much appreciated!

              TIA.

Stay away, will ruin your life. I'm often at work thinking of ways to tinker with my tactics and dreaming of a time when my young studs start taking over. It's the best sports game out there! Just be prepared for it to take up alot of time and that there is a pretty good learning curve. The first save is almost always a failure until you get the hang of it.

I love reading the thread but don't post updates too often. I've been playing off and on with a Seattle Sounders + USMNT save of FM13 for a while and I'm currently in December of 2024. I stop playing the saves because the static nature of MLS in the game can bore me. However, it had been a while and I found a few reasons to get interested again.

                      1) Turn Seattle into a South American USMNT recruiting engine and farm team. (Get Brazilian players who are good but won't get called up, get them nationalized)
                      2) Win the club world cup a few more times.
                      3) Finish Edinson Morera's career strongly.

Who is Edinson Morera? Just my favorite FM player ever. See inside spoiler.
                      Spoiler

I drew Barcelona in semifinal of club world cup, and I've never played them before as Seattle. Generally, it's been English teams in the Club World Cup, but I've also done OK for myself.
                      Spoiler

Unfortunately 2 players were hurt: Morera and another monster, 6'9" forward Juan Mosquera, which meant I lost a decent amount of quality (due to MLS roster rules).
                      Spoiler

                      Here's the Barcelona game highlights:

You can edit but not nearly as much. Creating fictional leagues can be complex, I've never done it myself but you have edit the actual data base. On steam there are many databases created by other people though.
