Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Guys,
I know that we're not supposed to link to other sites here at OS, but I recommend reading this piece from the official FM Forum:
http://community.sigames.com/showthr...l-Manager-2015
If you're like me and want a PDF with it all you can get it here:
I've been playing football (soccer) for 25 years and playing FM since it became available some 15+ years ago, but I learned quite a bit reading through this and it has inspired me to create some exciting new tactics. It's also very good for players new to FM or soccer in general.Success is temporary - Loyalty means forever

I'm totally going to stealth print that on our color copier after everyone leaves tonight and put it in a nice binder.
Just skimming it, I believe that this is a must-read for anyone of any skill level that plays FM. Even if you're just starting and only read it to familiarize yourself with the terminology, you will gain. It really is comprehensive in scope.Comment

Decided to go with Cardiff. Screwed up the summer window by not really signing any veterans and struggled to hang around midtable.
Once the winter window came open was able to bring in some defensive cover
We've reached march, pretty much need promotion cause it seems we're gonna get hammered by FFP.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Despite buying FM15, for the time being, I'm going to continue to run my FM13 save. Just having too much fun with it.
Preseason wrapped up with Rangers, getting 7 wins and a draw, the final tune up being a 4-0 thrashing of the MLS All-Stars, winning my second MLS All-Star Game. Didn't get out of the preseason completely unscathed. Daniel Sturridge suffered a torn ankle ligament in our first preseason friendly and will miss two months. A couple other minor injuries but nothing too serious.
Celtic are 6-4 favorites to win the SPL. Our odds are 7-4. After winning the SPL last year, the expectations have risen. The boards wants to win the SPL this year. Celtic have spent nearly $30 million in the transfer period so far. I think they took offense to me beating them by 13 points last season.
And for the first time....we sold out of season tickets. People are really excited about Rangers Football this season.Attached FilesLast edited by jasontoddwhitt; 06-12-2015, 02:28 AM.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Been away from fm for a while now, last version i have is 2012 on steam. Looking like metacritic and user score for best FM game is 2010 version. Which I have also. I put in 749 hours on 2010.anyone know if anyone has done database updates for these older versions? Looks like 2013 and later versions with lower scores, especially 2015.

FM 15 is fantastic and it's on sale right now for $25 on Steam. The match engine is far better than what you'd get with the versions you have. Upgrade if you've got the funds.Huskers | Chelsea FC | Minnesota United | OmahaComment

I've logged many a hours into FM13, but FM15 is worth the upgrade....especially on sale.
That match engine is the best it's been.

Champions League draw coming up. Seeded fourth again, but I have the highest coefficient of the fourth seeds. In other words, I'm the fourth seed nobody wants to see.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Metacritic is flawed anyway, because it assigns point scores to reviews that didn't have a score. And at times the score metacritic assigns is way off-base from the substance or text of the review.
And in the case of a game like FM, a lot of reviewers play the game for a week, don't really delve in too deeply, and then declare "it's the same old great FM with minor, incremental improvements." This means that a game like FM 10 will likely have the best overall reviews, because they added major features like press conferences. And FM 10 was the second release with the 3D match engine. The 3D match engine in FM 09 was good but flawed, and many reviewers at the time recommended sticking with the 2D dots. So FM 10 got a review bump from being the first game where critics said "we stopped using 2D and switched to 3D."
So even though there are tons of great improvements in FM 15, like the ability to assign points to your manager, because there isn't a splashy new major feature, the reviews won't be as high as a game like FM 10.
And really, the most important thing to me is the match engine, which is why it is always advisable to read the official SI forum threads to see what the user feedback is on each match update, what the bugs are, etc.Comment

Huddersfield and Derby in the EL, Spurs and Chelsea almost relegated. That's a crazy table.Comment
