Is it ever worth doing the injects for injuries? It seems too risky. And I can't really afford to lose anymore players for longer. Heck, I can't afford to this lose this kid now.

If I drink and play FM I normally wake up with no transfer budget.

In some cases, it's worth it.

In my case, I just did it with Harry Kane. I was 3 games away from the end of the season, and he had an ankle injury that was going to put him out for 4 weeks. I (stupidly) had virtually no backup for him at striker, so I really needed him. Gave him the injections, and he made it through all 3 matches. I think I lucked out, after the final match of the season, my physio came to me and said he was injured and needed to be shut down. At least he's got the whole summer to heal!

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***

Finished my 3rd season at Tottenham.

Had a pretty solid year. I was not winning as much as I'd like early on, we had a lot of draws, killer instinct wasn't quite there. But around Christmas time we pulled into the top 4, and never left.

Going into the final day of the season, we were sitting in 3rd with 72 points, Arsenal nipping at our heels with 71 points. We had Leicester at home, and Arsenal had Southampton away. Leicester scored early, but Harry Kane equalized just before half time. I was controlling the game, but once again couldn't score. Meanwhile, Arsenal had scored to make it 1-0, so we were sitting in 4th on the live table. It got to the 70th minute, and I just threw everyone forward, overload, try like hell to score, we were at no risk of falling to 5th, so we had nothing to lose. Memories of the year before when we had finished 4th, only to fall to Roma in the Champions League opening playoff, were running through my mind.

And rather than a goal by one of my players, it was a Dusan Tadic 87th minute wonder strike, to pull level with Arsenal, that kept me in 3rd!

Surprised to see Everton relegated. They were awful this year.

Chelsea won the league for the FOURTH consecutive year, as well as the Champions League. And they win like the FA Cup and the Capital One Cup and everything else all the time. They are straight up dominant.

As for my transfer activity, I've made a couple big moves for good, young players. $56m to Lazio for LM Felipe Anderson last year, and $93m to Milan for CB Alessio Romagnoli at the beginning of this season.

Juan Bernat continues to be a great buy. Bought him a season ago for $32m, and he is just a beast at LB.

Bayern came calling for Thiago Maia, my DM wonderkid from Brazil. I bought him for $10m from Santos a couple years ago, and Bayern paid $38m, plus a couple future goal and appearance based incentives, for him. So I made a healthy profit there.

I've kind of decided to stray from the big name transfers now. I'm in the process of increasing my youth and training facilities, so they should be among the best in the world, and I'm using my rather healthy transfer budget to purchase several promising youth players. I've got 10 scouts scouring the world for U20 players who show big potential. Off the top of my head, I believe the countries I'm scouting for young guys are: England, Spain, Italy, France, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Brazil, Argentina, and USA. Then I have my 2 best scouts who give me more detailed reports on the best of the best from each of my scout's assignments. So all year I've got a constant stream of scouting reports of U20 players coming in. My shortlist is about 40 players long right now, lol.

I have no idea if this will succeed, but I'm trying to create a sort of self-sustaining system where I can buy young players for cheap (with incentive-laden transfer deals to help protect me against the flops), and give me a supply for my first team, as well as hopefully profitting on the sale of the ones that don't quite fit into the team.

Usually I abandon my annual Spurs save after a couple years before going to try a bunch of lower league teams, but I really want to see this one out for longer to see if I can establish this youth academy setup that I have in my head.

(edit: whoa, sorry for the novel lol)

I'm hoping this guy ends up with an average higher than 8 when the season ends.

I don't know why, I get some great regens. Youth recruitment is pretty bad, same with facilities and the coaching staff but my youth team is kinda stacked.
