Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***

Just played 16 demo. First time playing this game. Been thinking about it for a few years. Needless to say I ended up buying it. After losing 4+ hours in the demo. This thing is going to ruin me.

And recommends on addons. I watched a few lets plays on youtube and they all looked the same, but not like what the demo looked like. I think they were using a custom theme/UI. It looked much better.

Add-On List (be prepared for downloading quite a bit)

Real Names and German National Team Fix (Note: Any time a major patch with a database update comes out you will have to re-install this)

Logos Megapack There are 4 options here. I prefer the Metallic, but use whichever you think looks the best.

Player Pictures Megapack Again a few options. I prefer the Cut Out by far.

Here are a few options for the skins

      2016 FLUT skin (Dark Version)

Wannachupbrew FM16 Again, this is my preferred skin but it's personal preference.

      More Optional Downloads

Ad Board Patch Nothing earth shattering. Just replaces the ad boards around the pitch with real ones. A nice touch.

Regen Hairstyles for FM16 Exactly what it says. Weird to think that this makes a difference, but it really does make it look nice down the line in saves.

Background Megapack If you have a skin that supports background pictures (like the wannachupbrew one displays in the preview picture) this will put the proper clubs stadium behind that team when viewing. Again, completely unnecessary but a nice touch.

I like the pitch mod where the pitches look a little better with the weather elements. Unfortunately can't find a link for it at the moment.

But when you get FM 17 you can just copy the graphics to the new version and you won't have to download everything again.

Insane finish. They equalized at 90, and then I won at 92, right as the ref was about to blow his whistle.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***

I decided to change my reporting style from this season on, I hope you guys like it.

                  SEASON 5 (2019)

We're not the underdog any longer. We're the defending champions and we don't intend to ever let go of the title. Unfortunately, we're still kinda broke so big money transfers are simply not an option. In total, we brought in ELEVEN players and most of them were valuable contributors to the team. Our big loanee of the season was Giovanni Sbrissa from our parent Sassuolo. The guy is waaay too good for Irish football and having him on the team just feels unfair.

For the first time in club history, we played in the President's Cup, basically the Irish super cup where League and Cup champions meet. It was a perfect start to the season, destroying Shamrock Rovers 6-2. Everyone was ready for a dominant start to the league season!!

Fast forward to week 7 of the season, and the world is burning. Everything was a mess, we probably couldn't beat a high school team at that point. Only one win in the first seven games left the team in complete shock and my job was anything but safe. We found ourselves twelve points behind Dundalk who were playing like possessed.
Luckily, the board didn't make any foolish decisions and let me right the ship and that's exactly what I did. We went on the greatest run in Irish football history, winning 24 of our last 26 games and not losing a single game. It took us twenty eight weeks to reach the top spot, but once we got there we never looked back.
The final league table shows us winning the league in dominant fashion, but it really doesn't tell the true story of the season.

We haven't won the big Irish cup in the first four seasons and I definitely felt this was the year we could, should and would do finally do it. Apart from one hiccup against Aiden McGeady managed Derry City, we pretty much stormed our way to the big final. There we faced Derry City, a team I really hate playing because they are always extremely defensive minded and hard to break down. They parked the bus from the kick off and rarely tried to get forward. Our fanastic loanee right winger Martin Christensen scored two beauties from the edge of the box to win the game for us. Cork City did get a goal back, but never really threatened to equalize. The cup is ours!!

For the first time in history, University College Dublin is playing in the Champions League!! Or at least the qualifying rounds

Second qualifying round - 1st leg
                  U.C.D. - Astra 3:2
                  Stokes 45+1' 79' Christensen 82' // Dumic 85' Boldrin 87'
This should've been a cake walk, or at least I hoped it would be. We were the better team from the kick off 'til the final whistle, but really made a mess of the game in the final few minutes. We got the lead just before the half and added two more goals in the second half, before conceding twice in the last five minutes. It was a real shame since Astra didn't play well at all and it was a stupid way to endanger our position.

Second qualifying round - 2nd leg
                  Astra - U.C.D. 0:1
                  Sutherland 2'

The away game went just as I hoped it would. We got the early goal through Frankie Sutherland and just laid back and protected our net for 88 minutes after that. Astra couldn't do anything against our defense and we punched our ticket for the third round.

Third qualifying round - 1st leg
                  Olympiacos - U.C.D. 5:2
                  Fortounis 15' Evangelista 56' Lotric 66' Kasami 77' Nica 80' // Christensen 60' Sbrissa 61'

Welp. I knew this was where the competition would become really hard and no one expected us to beat Olympiacos, especially away at Karaiskakis stadium where the atmosphere is among the best in football. Even though Olympiacos was the better team, I hoped we could get a good result after scoring twice in two minutes and equalizing the game with half an hour to go. Unfortunately for us, Olympiacos started playing like crazy and wrecked us in the next 20 minutes.

Third qualifying round - 2nd leg
                  U.C.D. - Olympiacos 0:2
                  Martinez 39' Fortounis 45+2'

Meh. I knew we had no shot as progressing in the competition, but at least wanted to put on a good show for the fans. It turned out to be the total opposite, we barely got a shot on goal and Olympiacos beat us with no trouble whatsoever.

                  Playoff - 1st leg
                  Villarreal - U.C.D. 0:4
                  Stokes 8' 39' Kelly 17' Christensen 86'

Man, there's no way we beat Villarreal... Why did we have to draw a powerhouse like that?? WHAT WHAT?? WE BEAT THEM FOUR NIL AWAY??? WAIT WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTT?????????????????????
I honestly can't even describe my excitement during this game. Of course we got a bit lucky scoring 4 and conceding none, but we really were the better team in this game. Everything just clicked and we played the best game in club history in the most important match in club history. MADNESS!!!

                  Playoff - 2nd leg
                  U.C.D. - Villarreal 1:2
                  O'Connor 89' // Mulhall o.g. 77' Dos Santos 90'

We had to concede less than five goals in this one. We did just that. WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I honestly can't believe we're in the group stage!

                  Group stage - Group E
                  FINAL TABLE

Wait, WHAT??? We finished top of the group??? HELL YES WE DID!!
To be honest, it was a really good draw for us. We didn't draw a single "giant" even though we were the fourth seed. I thought Besiktas would win the group and Dnipro would be the clear cut second best team. Well, I was dead wrong. Let me show you our best and worst game of the group stage.

                  Group stage - game 5
                  Rapid - U.C.D. 1:0
                  William 81'

It was the second to last game and Rapid was in last place. A win would send us through, while a draw would keep us in a qualification spot. Of course we did neither and lost 1:0. It was a terrible game where no team deserved three points. We conceded from a counter attack in the final ten minutes and I was absolutely gutted.

                  Group stage - game 6
                  U.C.D. - Besiktas 4:3
                  Stokes 8' 71' Papp o.g. 25' Christensen 26' // Garmston o.g. 11' Sahan 61' Valdivia 90'

We needed a win to go through and Besiktas was still alive despite only having one win in five games. That win came against us and they have the strongest roster of any team in the group, so I was very nervous before the game. It was a shootout, but we completely dominated the game statistically. When Stokes scored to make it 4-2 with under 20 minutes to go, I knew we did it! It was a great way to end the group stage and achieve historic success!

Because our season officially ends in December, we'll be continuing our Europa League run next season. We know our opponent in the first knockout round will be Sparta Prague. That is definitely a favorable draw and an opponent we could potentially beat.

                  __________________________________________________ _________________

So, what's the result of all this success?
First of all, our finances are looking insanely good right now. We have over seven million in the bank, and you all know what that means.... WE'RE OFFICIALLY A PROFESSIONAL CLUB!!

Also, our scouting range has been upgraded, we can now scout anywhere in the world. We could previously only afford domestic scouting.

As always, I'll finish the report with the best player(s) from the season.
This year I'll show you my best owned player and the best loanee.
Martin Christensen has been a sensation ever since joining us on loan from our parent club Brann. He's been a monster on the right wing and also incredibly durable and reliable. Played in over fifty games, scored and assisted in double digits and came up big in the biggest games.
The other player is Bradley Garmston, the prolific left back who joined us last winter on a free transfer. He was rarely the best man on the pitch, but he was never sub par and was a rock on the left side on the field. I really like his future in the club and will probably rely on him heavily for years to come.
                  Khalabeeb - Tony Henderson
                  Stiopic - Brock

This is going to take all day to get set up. But once I do start. I think I want to use the only offered jobs option to start. Instead of picking a team. I would assume it would also be easier to get an assistant job doing that. I find it odd I am so excited to play a spreadsheet game.

Thought I was done. Then realized I forgot all the kits. So many kit packs to download. Also need the stadiums. That vitrex16 skin is fantastic, what little I've seen of it.

2016 is in the books for my career save

Before I get on with what's happening with me, the Netherlands beat Belgium in PKs to win the Euros while Chile beat Paraguay to win the Copa America.

                              Spoiler

Been bouncing around from 6th to 10th all season, which I will happily take given that we were projected to finish 21st at the start of the season (granted that was before we added 14 people to the squad). We hold an away win over Oldham and a home win against Walsall (which ended up being revenge for a 5-0 defeat in the league cup). Defense has been a lot better than last year, but the goals have dried up. Might have to grab another striker (which my DOF was trying to do in the summer, but I thought I was set with Harrison and Lauri Dalla Valle) and an AMC.

That's if I stay around though. I'm supposedly in the running for the Blackburn job and the front runner for the Nottingham Forest job. I haven't extended my contract yet as I'm not sure if the finances will ever get better or if they will even invest any money.

Oh, and I'm facing Arsenal in the FA Cup on Saturday. That should be fun.
