That's okay, I made a stupid rookie mistake too and I've been playing this game for a long time.

I started as Torino (picked them because no loan debt in Serie A) for fun. Pretty much no transfer budget, pretty tiny wage budget.

Get an offer from Chelsea for my starting RB before the season. Comes out to 11Mil with future incentives (probably ~2-3M worth.)

Coolio, I'll do it. He's 23, but that money would be a great help, and RB is my strongest position. Goodbye, Nikola Maksimovic.

Oh, what's this Bruno Peres? You're angry that I sold the guy in front of you and you could get more playing time? Whatever, **** you too then dude. You're sold for 12M to Liverpool (with incentives potentially going to ~17.5M.) Dunno why you'd get angry about getting more playing time, since you're 25.

So I'm sitting here with like 20M in the transfer budget.

Thinking to myself "Nice, I can bring in a solid RB for rotation and find an AMR since I have nobody there." By nobody, I mean nobody. I had to go out of my way to sign a ****ty Kader Keita to start for me.

Make an offer of ~10M for Sime Vrsaljko that's accepted. Contract agreed upon. Nice, there's my RB.

Find an AMR from Steaua (Alexandru Chipciu) that I can rely upon for a couple years while I find my AMR of the future. Make a 3.5M offer, accepted.

Oh, what's this? No wage budget to make him an acceptable offer? Fine, fine. I'll move that slider so I can make an offer.

Whoops, big mistake. Can't move the slider back so LOL you don't get Vrsaljko, you don't get Chipciu AND you have zero transfer budget for the year. Have fun. **** you, FM. **** you.

On the bright side, they'll be happy with my wage usage because my budget went from ~350k to ~690k.

4 quick goals in the first 15 minutes and it's 2-2 between HSV and me, then I get a notification in the upper corner, 69th minute, E.Kachunga(69) RRB Leipzig 1 0 Dortmund.

None of the four teams scored goals beyond that. A draw on the final day, paired with a Dortmund loss means it's time for an early retirement for me.

Into the January window and yeah, I'm still dominating. Haven't lost in 34 matches and sporting a perfect record in the prem. Some of it is luck, but most of it is how good my players have been.

Crushed West Ham and then used my B team and demolished a full strength Chelsea side in the CoC. Christian Eriksen's been on fire since December and has been off the charts. Dele Alli is quickly becoming my best midfielder and Harry Kane continues to lead the league with 22 goals in 21 games.

so yeah, like i said, i retired from the union berlin save, started a new unemployed save, and set a new personal record for least amount of time spent at a club without being fired

Um, well, I do actually. This was nothing more than an aberration against last place Bastia. And post-match, I received several angry phone calls from opposing managers and the league office, demanding I apologize for breaking the league's "no scoring allowed" rule.

Am I missing something with UCL Qualifications? I was under the impression that 4th in the EPL automatically qualifies for the Champions League group stage.

I had to do a playoff with Roma right when the season started. Lost 3-2 on aggregate and now I'm back in the Europa League

Did the English coefficient go down to cause this? Or has it always been this way, and I've just never noticed?

I give up trying to perfect this 3 back tactic.

This is with FM13, but I've had really good luck with a 3-1-4-2 or a 3-2-3-2. The strength up the middle forces the other team to the outside, and I have tall, athletic center backs to deal with the crosses. It's possible it wouldn't work as well in the newer games, but it works well for me.

I also like it, because it gives me one less position to focus on (don't need fullbacks) and lets me prioritize central midfielders, which I try to make the strength of my team.
