    Strasbourg Year Two Update:

I was offered a player, Maximiliano Romero, by his agent. He had transfered to Leicester City from Velez last season, but he was now unhappy and transfer listed. I couldn't afford to scout him (I can't afford to scout anyone), but my new Argentinian scout had close to full knowledge of Romero's attributes. They looked good enough for him to be a rotation player on my Strasbourg side, and he's only 17. So I took a flyer and threw a low-ball offer at Leiciester (all I could afford to spend), hoping that since they relegated they might need to offload some players. But I knew there wasn't a chance in hell they would accept. And then they said yes, miraculously. By low-ball offer, by the way, I mean I moved my wage budget slider so that my 0 transfer budget became 100k transfer budget. Well, it turns out it was worth the risk. My assistant manager believes he has the talent to be a star Ligue 1 Striker. And if he really is that good, I have no idea why he even considered signing with Strasbourg.

I've reached the half-way point in my first season with Rangers and things are coming together nicely.

And this kid has been absolutely killing it, he can't stop scoring. 17 goals in 16 starts in league play, by far the best in the league so far:

        Strasbourg Year 2 Update:

Through two matches of the season, my squad picked up a whopping 8 injuries, including both starting fullbacks, and my backup right back. I'm beginning to think I'm actually managing Arsenal. Speaking of Arsenal, Wenger retired in my save and was replaced by Ancelotti. And, in proof that FM totally mirrors the real world, Chelsea won the league handily and Leicester finished last and were relegated.

Anyway, back to Strasbourg, my backup GK saved three penalties in the wild shoot-out that ended my first round Coupe de Ligue match:

          I love fullbacks.

Bought Juan Bernat from Bayern in my Spurs save, and he's killing it. Seems like he's constantly putting killer crosses in. He's the highest rated player in my team.

I always find it interesting how different people play this game. That's why I love this thread!

Decided to give FM 15 one last ride before I switch over to 16, rebooted my Crewe save, was 3rd in the championship heading into Dec 2015. Then QPR sacked Roy Keane and the media made me the favorite, so I declared interest and applied.

I was granted a meeting with Tony Fernandes who promised me zero money and I said sure I'll take the job.

QPR had 9 points from the first 14 matches, sitting bottom of the table. I figured with Charlie Austin and Giovinco leading the line I would have a chance to avoid relegation.

First match was against Spurs, they blitzed me for a 3-0 defeat at WHL. Next was Liverpool at the kop. I came back from a 2-0 first half deficit only to lose 6-2. Next was Villa and we finally won, but we lost Charlie Austin for the season(lol FM)

That said we went on a 14 match unbeaten streak even with losing Giovinco for the season in that run

            End of the season

I sold off Matty Phillips, Nathan Dyer, and Taarabt, released Hoilett. Brought in Dele Alli, Odegaard and Origi on loan. Signed Memo Ochoa to compete for the keeper job.

The board gave me zero in funds again and has set the bar at mid table finish. Welp
Don't you EVER read my blog? It's gotten a lot better.

My suggestion would be to try to watch some of the guys who post videos of this game to Youtube. I watched some videos from this channel called "FootyManagerTV" (LINK) prior to the game's release and I found them to be pretty helpful. I think he's probably one of the best for if you are learning the game because he shows gameplay and some of the transfers and such. I'm pretty new, too!

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***

Anyways, my second season as manager at Real Madrid is in the books. Season #2 was a little disappointing, though it was still alright. Barcelona was much better this year and bested me 94 points to 84 points atop the table in La Liga, though I was comfortably in 2nd place, 12 points atop Valencia, who finished 3rd. I had a bit of a crisis mid-season and I changed tactics to a 4-1-2-3 DM Wide.

After a particularly infuriating 1-0 loss to Atletico mid-season in which Sergio Ramos picked up a red card, I lost my composure and fined him two weeks worth of wages, which made him very angry and caused a lot of turmoil throughout the squad.

We pulled it back together and did pretty well towards the end of the year, though, but we couldn't catch back up to Barcelona, who only lost two games all season.

We did win the Copa Del Rey for the second season in a row, which was cool. We beat Barcelona in the semifinals, which was awesome. We actually were 2-0-2 against Barcelona this season (undefeated), so we were great head-to-head, but it wasn't enough to win the league.

In the season-opening Spanish Super Cup, we lost on aggregate on away goals to Levante, which was really disappointing, though the board doesn't really care about that competition or the Copa Del Rey, for that matter.

Champions League went well initially as I won my first five group stage games and tied the final as we soared into the knockout rounds, but from there it was more of a struggle. We ended up making it to the semifinals for the second second year, but lost on away goals with a 4-4 aggregate score to Chelsea.

A big problem for us was injuries. Luca Modric missed about half the season and Ronaldo was injured for about a fourth of it, including a lot of the latter part of the season. Jese and Bale were also injured for most of the latter portion of the season, which was problematic. Jese's injury is/was particularly serious as he won't even be healed until about a third of the way through the next season.

                    Table:

                    Injury woes:

In the offseason, I blew a bunch of money on Eden Hazard as a Ronaldo replacement down the line and made some other signings for youngsters (the Brazilian Lincoln probably being my most promising one).

I'm now about a third of the way through the 2017-2018 season and we sit atop the table with a 9-0-2 record and a four-point cushion over Barcelona. We haven't lost a competitive game yet aside from a 2-4 loss to Barcelona in the away leg of the Spanish Supercup (but we won on aggregate 5-4 due to our 3-0 home leg win). We also qualified for the knockout round of Champions League, which is great.

Ronaldo has been back to great form this year and is injury-free so far. Hazard has also been great. We've had a ton of injuries for our strikers and attacking midfielders as Benzema, Jese, and Bale have all missed all or nearly all of the season. Jese and Benzema should be coming back soon, at least, though Bale still has awhile to heal. Rodriguez has also missed some time, which has really left us short-handed, but we've played well through it, anyways, with Hazard and Ronaldo playing great even with limited rest.

The USA National Team job came open early this season, so I applied for it and got the job, so that will be interesting. My first friendly against the Faroe Islands is in a few days (it is November 2017). I'm not really sure how to handle the national team job, so if anyone has any tips, that would be great. I just didn't want to pass up the opportunity, since you can keep your club job. The USA NT barely qualified for the World Cup this year, so I'll have that to look forward to in 2018!

this is probably better answered if you know what kind of guide you want.

                              I finally ****ing beat Chelsea!

Harry Kane with a hat trick (in the course of about 5 minutes) to finally take down Mourinho's Blues. It only took 6 tries lol. And then the next game, we follow it up with a 2-0 win against City!

We're on a fantastic stretch of defensive play, lately. One bad game against Norwich where we conceded 3, but besides that, it's been a pretty impressive run of form.
