For me, this is really just based on my club finances. At a club like Arsenal? Just get them. If you've got the money, why not.

I usually go by the Staff page, where it shows you your staff compared to others in the league. That gives you a good idea of where you are compared to your peers.

I tend to value youth development, so I like to keep my U23 and U19 teams well staffed.

Finished out my inaugural (half) season at Trinec. Very happy with the results.

      Here's the final table:

And here's our week-by-week table position. Red line shows when I took over.

It was a little dicey for a minute. At one point I even went to the bottom of the table, but we went on a great run of form at the end of the season, and ended up with a comfortable mid-table finish. Here's all the games from the point where I took over:

That striker that I had, as part of my "golden generation" from the youth intake, I started playing him in my first team, and he did not disappoint. 4 goals in 8 appearances in the league as a 15 year old. I may very well go into next season with him as my main striker.

Really looking forward to the offseason, I have some areas of the squad that could definitely use strengthening. Hopefully the club will have enough money to send me on a coaching course. I've already asked twice, and they've said both times that they don't have the funds... lol

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***

So after my back to back second place finishes in Wales I was offered the job at St. Pats Athletic in Ireland that off season. Couldn't really turn that step up down. Managed to finish 3rd two years in a row. Also won one of the 900 cups they play in Ireland. Was doing good. Then once again I was offered a big step up, this time mid season. Morton in the Scottish Premiership. I couldn't turn that down either.

First season with Morton, facing relegation when I took over.

It came down to the final day, We ended up getting a draw with Hearts, while Ross County lost to Dundee. Allowing us to move up past them into the playoff. Then after a 0-0 draw in the first leg, this is what happened in the second leg.

Penalties 4-5. The only miss was the last one.

Not the career path I expected in this journeyman. I haven't left the English speaking countries. Which is not normally how these go for me.

In the off season I really shook the team up and let a lot of dead weight go. And then ended up bringing in a massive amount of loans due to financial restrictions. I also brought in some failed youth prospects from English Premier league teams on frees.

We were predicted to be in the relegation battle again, and thought to be the automatic relegated team at 10000-1. But so far we are defying even my expectations of the team.

Its still early in the season, but I think we've set our selves up nicely to avoid the battle. We've started having lots of injury issues, so I see us dropping more points moving forward. But I'm confident our great start will see us stay up.

I love it when it all comes together. Took over Nottingham Forest on matchday 12 after Mark Warburton was sacked with them being 24th in the Championship. Took a beating and ended up 21st headed into the transfer window, I got rid of some of the dead weight, and brought in some players so that I could at least set-up the way that I wanted to, now into February we're on a five match unbeaten run, and have moved from 18th to 8th.

Reiss Nelson in from Arsenal on loan, Rivaldo Coetzee, whom I didn't think I'd get a work permit for, joined from Sundowns, along with his "friend" Goalkeeper Jody February(whom also got a work permit). While Jason Cummings departed the club on loan along with Ben Brereton. Some players who just never caught on under me such as Mustapha Carayol, David Vaughan, Danny Fox, Jason Smith, Matt Mills, and Apostolos Vellios moved on to other clubs as well.

Would anyone be interested in doing an online save? I'm probably going to be doing the Premier League, but may do the Bundesliga. I haven't created a set schedule yet, but I'm going to be free most days after next week, since I'm done with college till mid January. If you have any suggestions or want a different league, you can let me know, as I'm open to more than just the two leagues I mentioned. Lastly, message me if you are interested.

Closed out the season at Chelsea. Finished a bit disappointingly in the league, form dropped a little and had to settle for 3rd with 69 points(nice).

The Champions League, on the other hand, well that was a lot of fun. After taking out Bayern in the round of 16, we were dealt Monaco in the quarters. We took care of business and were never really challenged - winning 3-1 on aggregate which set up a semi-final clash with Real Madrid.

Away to Madrid for leg 1, they jumped out to a 1-0 lead. It didn't look good in the first 20 minutes. Fortunately, my defense came together and held them to just that one goal the rest of the way. The team came back home fired up and blasted 3 goals past Real, while conceding no more to send Chelsea through to the CL final. I was buzzing and boy, I was in for a real surprise when I found out who would be my opponent. Spartak Moscow. This team took out Man City, Napoli, and Atletico to secure a spot in the final. They came out of nowhere.

I didn't know what to expect heading into the final. We jumped out to an early lead thanks to Pedro and thoroughly dominated the match. Getting that second goal proved to be difficult, and with 15 minutes to go, they won a corner that got them their equalizer. Looks like I'm getting FMed in the CL final of all things and wouldn't you believe it, in the 89th minute Azpilicueta gets sent off. We head to extra time down to 10 men. Oof. Side note - despite being one of the best defenders in the PL and a very consistent player IRL, Azpi just doesn't ever seem to play well for me in FM. FB, WB, CB, he just doesn't perform for me, not sure why.

Anyway, I adjusted the formation and mentality a bit for ET. I didn't want to settle for penalties. I had one sub left for extra time and brought Batshuayi on to play in a triangle up top with Morata and Hazard. This paid off, as Bats smashed home a shot in the 104th minute to take the lead. Despite being down to 10 men, the team remained solid and held off for the final 15 minutes. What a match.

Heavily favored, early lead, deflating equalizer, a man sent off and an extra time winner against an unlikely final opponent. Champions of Europe!

Have you played before? If you're new I suggest starting with a bigger team as they are easier to manage and you're less likely to get fired while still learning the game.

If you have played before, I'm a big fan of the "waking a sleeping giant" or "capital city" challenges.
