    ***The Official Football Manager Thread***

Lost away to Wolves in the 5th round of the FA Cup on an absolute howler from Jordan Pickford.

Tonight I’ll have Marseilles away in the 2nd leg of the first Knockout Round of the Europa League.

I also have an away derby against that tin pot club called Liverpool, who have sacked the Juergen after he had an awful start.

I am enjoying this way more than 17. Maybe it’s also because my computer can handle this years version much better than last years.

I have the next 3 days off from work. Must remember to be productive.

      2) Has anyone found a skin for a smaller resolution (1440x900)? I'm fine with the default 'light' skin--but some of the others look really good, and I'd like to try, but playing on a 13" MacBook Air, the panels mess up unless I go super small (85%).

I’ve never used a light skin before. A light color skin during those late night sessions could probably burn corneas.

I don't make wholesale tactics changes really. I have a "main" tactic that serves as the base for my teams style of play. I might change the mentality, add or remove a team instruction or two, or adjust a few player roles depending on the opponent. The shape remains the same, though. I prefer to adhere to the core of my style of play and only make minor tweaks, if needed.

I'll use the other 2 tactic slots to train a defensive variant of my main tactic, largely used to see off games, and another tactic for chasing goals if I need them.

Stepped down from Everton after losing the Merseyside Derby 3-0.

It was too much, too fast with only having a National C license.

Well, despite our poor run of form down the stretch, we managed to win the title.

Only because everyone else in the top 10 also had a terrible end to the season.

So now I'm in a very bad spot. I didn't realize you only get 56K for winning the Championship. We have no money. We are 269K in the red right now. They gave me 39M in transfer funds, but I can't spend that without putting the club in a really bad spot if we don't stay up. AND, its not enough to strengthen the squad to stay up anyways. We will struggle if I spend the money or not.

I'm 100% sure I'll get fired before Christmas. I can't see us avoiding the struggle. But maybe I'll get lucky and they will only ask me to fight bravely against relegation.

Swansea won the title last year with a team slightly better than ours. They only had 15 points this season in the Premier league. They went through two managers this season. They also spent 47M.

The bookies have me 1-5 odds to take over Barney FC, who play in League 2.

                We’ll see what happens.

How did you swing this for 60M?

I'm in mid-Dec, just tooling around trying to snag him, and they want £120M...?

In other news, PSG want £171M for Draxler. I have the cash--just can't decide what to do.

Edit: kept trying to low ball and they took 91 for Draxler (didn't save).

He had grown out of favor with his manager and was unhappy due to low playing time. I was able to leverage that against Dortmund and work some magic for that deal. I did this in January 2019, so our games might have taken slightly different paths.

Meanwhile, shady stuff going on in Europe to my benefit. Guy named Abramovich for BATE scores an own goal...COINCIDENCE?

Also Batshuayi decided to get up off his butt and score a double hat-trick. Winning big was expected, even with my B team out there, but this was extreme.

If you want that incredible player before/just entering his prime with 4 years left on his deal NOW, teams will ask for really high fees. If you don't need them right away, you can play the long con of trying to unsettle them for 6 months to a year and break the club's will.

Also, even if they set some outrageous demand, always submit a bid that's above their value by a bit. If they see your club as a place they want to go, they will get mad that the bid wasn't accepted, and you can then keep chipping away at getting him to demand a transfer.

I have thrown myself back into the pit of misery. While unemployed, Burnley offered me a job interview. I interviewed, them they offered me a job.

The board wants me to play possession football. With Burnley.

Good news is they have zero expectations of me so I could get relegated and still have a job.

PSG wants £171M but will take £85M. REALLY torn on whether or not to bring him in. Feel like it's not a NEED--but he is so versatile.

Will bring in £45M for Alexis (in January), so I'm essentially getting him for £40M.

That's not even half your transfer budget, and if you have the money in the bank, why not? That's the only thing you'd have to worry about with it all being an up front payment.

Liverpool job is open, I applied. I doubt I get it.

I switched to a 4-4-2 counter system after losing the first five games playing our system from last year. We've been doing really well with the system. As long as we aren't playing one of the top dogs.

However our first choice goalkeeper just broke his collarbone and is out 5-6 weeks. The back up is nowhere near as good. I expect to fall back down into the relegation battle.

I also haven't mentioned this before. My assistant is Gary Neville. He was there when I joined. His contract runs out this year, and I think I might have to give him the boot.

Does transfer money not spent carry over? If it's a "use it or lose it," then I might as well go ahead.

I also would like to bring in Lemar, but he isn't interested this year due to no Champions League.

Lemar and Pulisic on the wings, Lacazette up front, and Özil pulling the strings? Yes please.
