    2. Even choosing the 9/25 date, the game just simulated the season results and had the USA as 2nd in qualifying and Montreal was winning MLS. Is this something where I wait for an update that puts the real results in the game for MLS and World Cup qualifying?

I'd never cared about the real results before, so I've never thought about this or encountered the issue.

Do I just need to wait a month or two?

I also would like to bring in Lemar, but he isn't interested this year due to no Champions League.

Lemar and Pulisic on the wings, Lacazette up front, and Özil pulling the strings? Yes please.

You get a new transfer budget every year. You're Arsenal so you're raking in money. Just keep an eye on your bank balance. Your transfer budget will be huge every year.

Currently at £301M in the bank. Definitely feel like I am flying a bit blindly with regard to 'behind the scenes' finances. Fortunately, at a large club--this shouldn't be an issue...

Just be happy you have money. Brighton gave me a whopping 20 million US to try and help avoid the drop.

Lol, decided not to pull the trigger. Not exactly sure where I would play him at the moment, so holding off.

Want to try to bring in a young attacking LB/LWB and same for the right side, as I really don't have anyone else really adept after Bellerin.

Been playing Maitland Niles there in some cup and Europa games and training him, but still not "suited" for that role.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***

I was trying to figure out the best way for me to start my Sounders save in FM18. I don't dislike the MLS ruleset like some, and in FM13 I managed to dominate despite it. I won the Club World Cup 5 times in ~13 years, would regularly go on 30 game unbeaten runs, and even had a player make the World Team of the Year.

Unfortunately, that game got a bit boring because the licensing rules for MLS are restrictive in FM and MLS never sees a cap increase, seems to have teams cap at 2.5 stars reputation, and the youth regens never really get better (and I couldn't ever increase Seattle's young recruitment network).

What I really would like is a fleshed out USA system, similar to this, but with a dynamic MLS cap and ability to grow rep. Unfortunately, that isn't really possible.

So instead, I'm veering a bit into fantasy land, but I think it will make the save more fun. First thing I'm doing is updating to a North American Pyramid: https://www.passion4fm.com/football-...ague-database/

Then I'm expanding out all of CONCACAF and other small nations so that there's a better pipeline of players for MLS and a chance for those leagues to be more interesting: https://sortitoutsi.net/downloads/vi...laassen?page=4

Last, I'm getting rid of all continental club competitions and replacing it with 3 worldwide champions leagues: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfile...?id=1200014889

This will give me the chance to see MLS improve, have more than just my team succeed (as other MLS teams will get $$$ from the champions leagues) and will hopefully end up in a longer-running save.

I managed to avoid relegation with Brighton.

I’m puzzled because with a balance of about 25 million in the bank, they gave me a transfer budget of 70 million.

Here's how Europe is shaping up entering KO Round(s)...

                      Here's how things stand elsewhere...

                      Notes:

                      - United have won 9 in a row (next up Liverpool at Anfield)

                      - Lost two of my last 5 PL games (away to both City and just now to Everton); my final two league games this year are home to City and Everton #drama

                      - Alexis will be joining Monaco in January for £45M

                      - Transfer budget sits at £213M, and I am completely torn on what to do. Top 2 targets I'd love to snag are Lemar and Pulisic.

                      - Dat Guy Welbz has been amazing playing LW (8.32 average, 6 G, 4 A in just 4 starts (8 subs))

Question for you guys on tactic building...

Do you generally create a tactic with player roles, and have your players fill those roles, even if they're not really suited for it? Or let them (to a point) play the roles they're best suited for?

My general "go-to" formation is usually a 4-1-2-3, with an anchor man DM, and my two midfielders as a combination of BWM, BBM, AP.

I don't really have the players to suit that, so I'm wondering if it's best to just use my tactic, but let those guys play as just basic Central Midfielders, which is the role most of them are best suited for.

Might be better than trying to fit a square peg into a round hole?

I have my system that I like to use, but I’ll build my tactics around my team if needed.

I try to do sort of a combination really. I typically try to use players in roles they are suited for, rather than just use 'my' preferred set up if the guys aren't 'good' for it.

With that said, I've spent a lot of time scouting players to fit my preferred setup to maximize their abilities.

This was our first game back after the mid-season break. Away to the 4th place team in the table (we're 10th). Gave up a hat trick in the first half hour of the game, and I thought we were sunk.

Most fun game in my career at Trinec. A solid point!

This will probably go down as my best season at Amiens, and we still had nothing for PSG. A 12-game winning streak and a 19-game unbeaten streak just left us zero room for error. The best I could muster up was a five-game winning streak and an 11-game unbeaten streak. I'm starting to hate those guys. Not only did they blitz us in Ligue 1, but they beat us in the finals of both the League Cup and the French Cup. I just can't compete with their damn oil money. Where's my foreign oil money? We spend $38.19M in salary...they spend $275M. And the scary part, they were actually sellers this transfer season. They sold $258M worth of players and bought $182M worth. In comparison, I sold $43.5M worth and brought in $25M.

The big sale occurred in the January transfer period when Porto came in and stole Steve Martial. Martial was having a career year, with ten goals and nine assists in 21 appearances across all competitions with an average match rating of 7.53. Porto came in flashing the Benjamins and I couldn't hang on to him. Got him for a free from PSG back in 2023 when I was still in Ligue 2. Sold him to Porto for $31M. That's quite the profit.

                                Steve Martial's Final Stat Line
237 appearances, 51 goals, 68 assists, 19 POTM awards, 7.18 average match rating

Took some of that money from the Martial sale and put it back into the first team. Brought in a striker on loan from Inter, brought in a defender from Le Havre for $9.25M and brought in Martial's replacement from Dinamo for $7.75M (22-year-old Bulgarian who already has 28 caps).

Time to get France ready for the 2030 World Cup in Spain.
