How does the instant-result button still make substitutions happen? Is it essentially as if you went on holiday?

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Not sure how going on holiday works, I've never done that. But I assume that its the same thing as setting your assistant to do friendlies. And that is essentially what the instant result button does. Your assistant runs the game using your starting 11 and set subs. He will make subs and even tactic/formation changes during the match.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Boy, I hit the wall hard with 1860. Some fantastic pre-season results including a 3-1 win vs Zenit, a 4-0 thrashing of Spartak, and the first wave of the golden generation coming out of those friendlies red hot. Our first league match was recently relegated Mainz, and a 2-2 draw away was a good result I felt, followed by a 3-1 "home" victory against Bielefeld, and a 1-1 draw against playoff losers St. Pauli left me with much optimism. My new players were fitting in well, we had reset with a 17-year olds at AM, RW, LB, with two more off the bench as a CB and a AM/ST. Losing three of our best players obviously took it's toll but I figured we could make a run of it. Then, Emil Berggreen, brought in from yo-yo club Ingolstadt to replace the departed Mike Bromer got hurt, we lost in Extra time to fellow 2. Bundesliga team Dresden in the DFB Pokal, a return to form saw a 2-0 victory against Nurnberg, followed by a 1-0 loss to Braunschweig, a 4-2 loss to Magdeberg, a 2-2 draw with Union Berlin, and an embarrassing 4-0 loss to the other relegated team, Augsburg.
A team meeting ensued, it was time to put up, or shut up. We shifted formations, benched a few veterans, and Emil Berggreen came back from injury. We managed a 4-1 dismantling of Kiel, including 61% possession. I thought we had come back from the wall, but we've just been inconsitent since, LWLWD.
We're hemorrhaging money right now. It's late Novemeber and we're lost $2m so far, $12m in the coffers, but the board are injecting the club with money every month. I think I'm going to have to sell the rest of our best players, and cut ties with everyone over 10k/week. Play a survival game. Or, go for broke and spend the last of the budget trying to get to the Bundesliga, and just lose money there.

Yeah I found a default skin which has it enabled. This is huge for me I’ll be able to finish seasons very quickly.

It's really nice, be aware that it generally uses CA to determine the winners and takes individual skills less into account. Also, if you're on a poor run of form, I'd try to turn it around manually rather than trying to sim through it in this case.Support Local Sports

I’m currently doing an FC United save. We’re a crap side with a crap manager running the show.

Got a job interview with Slovan Liberec, but I wasn't terribly interested in moving to Czechia, but I leveraged that job into the board investing more money into the club, drastically reducing the wage budget and transfer budget to help the club stay afloat. We'll see how it ends up working...Support Local Sports

Doing a pre-game press conference, and I get asked what my relationship is with fellow American Tim Howard. Took me by surprise.
Howard is now nemesis. He is the reason I just got relegated for the first time.Last edited by Zac; 01-18-2018, 08:10 PM.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
And the Golden Generation continues to leave, now Arsenal came in with a fairly ludicrous bid of £6m for this guy, but he was performing so well, and I really just wanted to hold on to him until the end of the season, then sell him to Bayern like every other good German team. Sigh.
The Golden Generation players that have left so far -
A nice £12m from them thoughSupport Local Sports

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Yes it is. Team morale is so fickle when you have no reputation.
Also this club refuses to let me go on a coaching course even though it's a semi-pro team with going on £500K in the bank. They also refuse to let me hire one more coach so I can actually have a goalkeeping coach. Cheap bastards.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Yeah, getting approval to go on a course can be tough sometimes.
The classic is, our schedule is too hectic. I've never understood this one. Is this the actual game schedule, or the lack of staffing?
Sometimes they say no if you are doing too well, stating they are afraid you will just leave once you get it because you'll attract interest from better clubs.
And some times they will tell you that you aren't meeting expectations and they don't know if you'll be around long enough for it to mater.
