Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***

So after growing slightly bored of my Nottm Forest save(Ruben Neves has an unreal relegation release clause, and Forest becoming a palace for dead stars seemed too good to be true) I decided to download the leagues edit, which unlocks a slew of new divisions. I loaded up all the ones I'd see myself managing and, started as a Sunday League Footballer/No Badges, I then simmed to yesterday's date(as this occured yesterday) and began my journey, and well, it took awhile.... and I mean awhile... like actually until August 8th, 2018. Finally after 23 interviews, I landed at St. Louis FC in the USL Pro.

What.a.Mess. 500,000+ in the hole, payroll was 6,000 above what it should've been, half the team was unhappy, half the team hated the other half of the team, so we did what I do best.

We cleaned house. Surprisingly Gedion Zelalem was available on a free, and he is now the de facto leader of the squad, I assume with his $0 release clause to clubs in a higher division he won't be sticking around terribly long for me.

17 all new players are turning out for the game against Harrisburg, the longest tenured player at the club is now Erik Hurtado, who joined just 3 days after me(I signed him)

My general "go-to" formation is usually a 4-1-2-3, with an anchor man DM, and my two midfielders as a combination of BWM, BBM, AP.

I don't really have the players to suit that, so I'm wondering if it's best to just use my tactic, but let those guys play as just basic Central Midfielders, which is the role most of them are best suited for.

Might be better than trying to fit a square peg into a round hole?
Depends on how suited they are for the role. I won't play someone who is in the red, but in the yellow? I might stick him in my system and see how it works. I like to keep my tactic fairly rigid in terms of player roles, and find players for that role through transfers, but I'm not opposed to changing it up if things get stale.

It's funny, this is actually my first World Cup in a Football Manager game. I've never really delved much into international management. They can still flesh it out some more in my opinion. It's onto Spain. I'm the world #1 heading into the World Cup. We're the odds-on favorite to win. I haven't lost a match yet in my international career. We did draw Argentina in a friendly in the lead up to the World Cup, but I played a heavily rotated squad, so I'm not too worried about it.

Here is your 2030 France World Cup squad...

The group stage went off without a hitch...

We draw Mexico in the quarterfinals and I'm walking on cloud nine....then I became the most hated man in France...

We picked the worst time of the World Cup to have my first loss. I'm surprised I didn't get fired after the World Cup, but my job security is sitting at a paltry 18%. I can hopefully use the UEFA Nations League to garner some more goodwill, but I'm hoping I can find some young defenders who are ready to take the mantle for French football.

Year 3 at Chelsea comes to a close. For the third time in a row, United win the league, this time with the highest points total in the history of the PL.

Not too much more I could've done, I had a great season. Maybe score a few more goals, but the team played really well throughout. 93 points would've been good enough to win the league in all but 1 season in the PL era - 04/05 Chelsea amassed 95 points. United's lone loss was at Stamford Bridge. I just couldn't quite overcome them. What's worse, I promised the board going into this season I would win the league and in spite of the high points total, I've been sacked as I didn't fulfill that promise. Add in a stupid early exit in the FA Cup and I probably deserved it. Incredibly disappointing nonetheless.

          Chelsea board realism 10/10

My cabinet after leaving, perhaps a bit underwhelming given the financial status of the club. Although, given that I am generally awful at FM, this is alright:

14 goals allowed all season? Good Lord.

He said the loss was to him. Did about all he could do, literally. Sucks he got sacked with those results.

I am beyond addicted to this game. Making myself go mad as I've just entered my first transfer window with Arsenal, and over £200M to spend; trying to figure out who to bring in.

I hope Mourinho screws up and gets sacked(probably not but one can hope). I'm applying for the United job the minute it opens, even if I have something good going with another club. If I get it, I'm tanking the club.

I'll buy a bunch of nobody players from Mongolia and put them on 250k p/w wages. Maybe throw in a North Korean player on 300k for fun. I'll install my world-beater 10 at the back tactic, the fans will love it.

We'll see who's laughing then, United.

So we survived, finished in 16th. Safe by 11 points in the end.

Window has been open one week and then I get this:

                      This better get resolved soon.

Ah yeah. It went through and they gave me 52M to spend before the window closes. NICE. And have instantly asked to extend my contract even though I have two years left.

This has to be a tycoon take over right? He is just pumping money into the club left and right.

I didn't ask for that, he just did it.

And I got fired by France after 357 days on the job. A record of 12-1-1.

                        That one loss though...

I just started a new save with France myself. So much talent.

First match was a 4-0 friendly whipping of Finland, with a brace each from Lacazette and Griezmann.
