Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Expectations are beginning to rise at Amiens, with the board wanting Champions League football now. That's perfectly fine with me, we are in the Champions League right now. I can feel myself getting the itch to move on. I'm getting ready to enter my 9th season for the club. The France job was supposed to be my attempt at reshaping French football. But who was I kidding? I was only the third non-Frenchman in history to lead the French National team, and I lasted longer than either of those two guys, so I had that going for me. Maybe the USMNT job will open up, but Bosko Orovic has been on the job for over four years now with two Gold Cups to his name and it appears he's not going anywhere anytime soon. It is cool seeing two of my former stars on the major American star list (Pranjay Kumar and Daniel Trevino). Or maybe that Manchester United job will open up one day...but Jose Mourinho is STILL going strong after 14 years at United (he just won his sixth Premier League title).
Good Luck in your Future Endeavours
CM Mikel Calle - 73 appearances, 3 assists, 6.96 rating in two seasons ($6.25M to Lyon) - The very definition of a player who was just out there. Not saying he wasn't bad or anything. But I'm sure I have cheaper options who can peg the ball around the midfield. Bought him for $4M from Nancy, so did make a slight profit on his sale.
LB Gary Forrest - 105 appearances, 1 goal, 11 assists, 6 POTM awards, 7.17 rating in five seasons ($8M to Villarreal) - Never could make the left back position his own, but he was a good rotational option at left back. Bought him for $525k from Hearts, so once again, another piece of transfer business that resulted in a profit.
CM Jean Rabihou - 31 appearances, 2 goals, 2 assists, 6.96 rating in two seasons ($28.5M to Koln) - Guy has loads of potential, but is also a constant complainer. Was upset that I didn't anoint him the Messiah of Amiens. Sorry kid, you have to earn your playing time, and there were others ahead of you more deserving. Koln is purchasing him on his potential (he was labeled a wonderkid at one point). I purchased him for $4.5M from Dijon, so this was some amazing transfer business on our part. Plus, he's not in France, so I don't have to worry about him sticking it to me...unless he becomes big and Koln sales him to PSG or something.
LB Israel Martin - 132 appearances, 3 goals, 10 assists, 4 POTM award, 7.29 rating in four seasons ($8.5M to CSKA Moscow) - I was not planning on selling both of my left backs. Unfortunately, those rich Russians like to throw their weight around at times. I hate that I find it hard to hang on to some of my guys. But I'm determined to continue to run this club as a profitable business. Purchased him for $2.4M from Oviedo, so more profit.
Projected Starting Lineup
GK: Borja Martinez (3.5/4.0 stars/23 years old/$12M/2 caps for Spain) - Signed last summer from Real Madrid for $1.3M. Labelled the next Iker Casillas, Borja had a breakout season, culminating in earning his first two caps for Spain and finishing runner-up for the Goalkeeper of the Year award to Donnarumma at PSG. Made 45 starts last season, allowing 1.06 goals per game with an average rating of 7.06. He's our clear #1.
LB: Atilla Mitev (3.0/3.5 stars/22 years old/$9.25M/21 caps for Bulgaria) - With a name like Atilla, he better be good. Signed this summer from Sevilla for $2.7M. Made 45 appearances last season, scoring one goal and registering three assists with an average rating of 6.62. Stength and stamina make him a decent athlete, though his tendency not to get stuck into rough challenges can put his teammates under some pressure.
CB: Tom Troost (3.0/3.0 stars/24 years old/$7.5M) - Signed last season from Ajax for $3.5M. Made 49 starts last season, scoring two goals and earning 2 POTM awards with an average rating of 7.19. Was named to the Ligue 1 Team of the Year last season.
CB: Loic Guerin (4.0/4.0 stars/27 years old/$13.5M) - Signed last January from Le Havre for $6.25M. Made 12 appearances, scoring a goal with a match rating of 7.48. Loic is really good in the air and has the ability to mark an opponent closely, though his passing can be wayward at times.
RB: Flavio Nasta (3.0/3.0 stars/28 years old/$13M) - Signed in 2028 on a free from Atl. Tucuman in Argentina. Flavio had a slightly down year compared to his first season with us. That's not necessarily a bad thing. The captain made 33 appearances, scoring four goals, registering 10 assists, earned three POTM awards and had a match rating of 7.45. Was named to the Ligue 1 Team of the Year and was voted the Supporter's Player of the Season.
CM: Camille Le Floch (4.0/4.0 stars/27 years old/$25.5M) - Signed in 2026 from Montpellier for $3M. For once, I've been able to hang on to a player. Newcastle United has been stalking Camille for two seasons, and they finally gave up. Camille found himself get more involved in the attack last season. He made 50 appearances last season, scoring eight goals, registering 13 assists, and earned three POTM awards with an average rating of 7.38. He was named to the Ligue 1 Team of the Year.
CM: Jiri Horak (3.0/3.5 stars/22 years old/$20.5M/39 caps for Czech Republic) - Joined this season on loan from Porto. Made 24 appearances last season for the Porto first team, scoring a goal, registering seven assists, and earned 2 POTM awards with a match rating of 6.93. Not 100% sure why Porto loaned him out, as he got plenty of time in their first team last season. I won't complain though. His passing ability and off the ball movement underline his technical prowess.
CM: Serge Marchand (3.5/3.5 stars/25 years old/$17.5M) - Joined last summer from Caen for $4.6M. Serge spent the season getting settled into his new surroundings in Amiens. Made 47 appearances, scoring a goal, registering eight assists and earned one POTM award with a match rating of 7.08.
AMC: Sebastian Lebrun (3.0/3.0 stars/28 years old/$9.5M) - This would've been Tsvetan Damyanov, who joined last season after the sale of Steve Martial. Unfortunately, Damyanov ruptured his Achilles tendon in the final match of the season and will most likely miss the first half of the season. So, we signed Sebastian from Guingamp for $3.6M as a stop gap. Last season, made 42 appearances, scoring four goals and registering 11 assists with a match rating of 6.94. His technical prowess should unlock our two big goal-scoring threats.
ST: Danilo Camargo (4.0/4.5 stars/22 years old/$13.25M/10 caps for Columbia) - Joined this summer on loan from Chelsea. Last season, Danilo was on loan with Fenerbahce. Made 14 appearances, scoring eight goals and registering an assist with a match rating of 7.12. Will be expecting more from the target man, else he loses his spot. Composure and speed make this guy the potential to be a big-time goal scorer for us this season.
ST: Nacho Varela (4.0/4.0 stars/26 years old/$29.5M) - Signed in 2028 from Deportivo for $2.8M. Last season was the Nacho Show. Made 48 appearances, scoring 33 goals, registering 8 assists, and earned five POTM awards with a match rating of 7.28. Was the leading goal scorer in France, and also won the Adidas Golden Shoe as the top goal scorer in Europe.
Other Notes
- 2030 World Cup was won by Brazil, defeating Italy in a penalty shootout after playing to a 1-1 draw. Japan defeated Turkey 1-0 to finish in third place. The 2034 World Cup will be taking place in the Land Down Under. Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, Oi! Oi! Oi!
- France dropped to 3rd in the world rankings after our disastrous turn in the World Cup. France hope their fortunes can be turned around (again, I lost one freaking match...I deserved more time...I call it anti-American sentiment lol) by Dimitri Lienard, who resigned from Lille to take the post.
- FC Hollviken is still languishing outside the active leagues in the Swedish Division 3. They cratered after I left.Last edited by jasontoddwhitt; 12-25-2017, 08:54 AM.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Finished my first full season at FK Fotbal Trinec in the Czech 2nd division. It was a solid season, finished 8th in the table again this year.
This season was a ton of fun. Some crazy games, as you can see in the results below. Here's how the season finished. We went on a good run coming out of the break, which really put us comfortably mid-table.
I've guided Trinec to 8th place in both seasons I've been there. Their best finishes since 2010/2011. Also using some really young players in the Starting XI, so hopefully that's a good sign of things to come. I set a record for the most goals scored in the club's history. But we also allowed a ton of goals. While it was fun to bang in the goals this year, the defense has to be better next year.
Team history below:
The club has huge money problems. I still have no coaching badges, because the club just have no money for me to take the courses. I've sold a couple players just to help bring some cash in. Got $160k and $75k for two players I got the season before on free transfers.
I've looked around for other jobs, but nobody seems to want to even bring me in for an interview. So it looks like another year at Trinec. Hopefully it's a solid season and gets some heads turning in my direction. Because I'm ready to take the next step in my career.Last edited by gopher_guy; 12-25-2017, 04:55 PM.University of Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
You guys seem to race through seasons. How long does it typically take you to get through a season?
I do have 4 kids, 5 and under--so perhaps that's why it seems to take me so much longer, lol?Arsenal | New York YankeesComment

I can get through seasons pretty quick during the winter when going outside after work isn't a viable option. If I'm sitting down and chilling, watching TV or a hockey game, FM is almost always open on my laptop, lol.Last edited by gopher_guy; 12-25-2017, 11:38 PM.University of Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
No kids and much like gopher guy, I've got it open on my laptop a lot in my free time, especially if I'm watching something on TV. Since FM can be a fairly passive game, it's easy to pick and choose when I want to devote my attention to it or something else without having to shut it down.Huskers | Chelsea FC | Minnesota United | OmahaComment

I have a strong addiction to this game, and literally bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab A to screenshare with my at-home desktop so that I can play at work.Support Local Sports

If you have the touch version on Steam, you won't be able to use it on your iPad you will have to purchase it separately.Support Local Sports

Would love if you could play the same save via mobile. I'm guessing that's a no go...?

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
I started a save in FM18, managing Rangers, and the US.
Rangers board wants me to win the league. I think the boys at Sports Interactive got the demands of the fan base mixed up with the demands of the board.
Named my first team for the US, then had to replace Bradley, Altidore, Cameron (after the Honduras match), and Zusi all because of injury. Damn, and I was already without Dempsey.
Drew Honduras 0-0....but then I beat Mexico 1-0. My makeshift US lineup lol.
GK: Brad Guzan
DL: Tim Ream
DC: John Brooks
DC: Steve Birnbaum
DR: DeAndre Yedlin
DM: Jose Francisco Torres
MCL: Danny Williams
MCR: Geoff Cameron/Weston McKinnie
AML: Fabian Johnson
AMR: Christian Pulisic
ST: Bobby Wood
Doesn't mean my FM17 save is done just yet.Last edited by jasontoddwhitt; 12-26-2017, 04:22 PM.Comment
