I started this thing, hopefully it goes well - http://www.operationsports.com/forum...rees-fm16.html

Also, surprisingly fightish game against Barca, lost 3-2 at home so I guess it's better than I expected.

So, I win the Premier League, Europa League, FA Cup, Capital One Cup...not to mention developing great English players like Kane, Alli, Dier, Walker, Rose, and Mason.

Roy Hodgson retires and I DON'T EVEN GET AN INTERVIEW!!!

Gerry freaking Monk gets the job!!! Yes Swansea finished 4th, but really???!!!

Meanwhile, Luis Enrique leaves Barca for the vacant Spain job and Barca shortlists me for the managerial opening!!!! My lord FM Gods...

That's such a Spuds thing to happen lol.

On a more serious note, I have started a Boro save and loving the challenge of taking them back to the Premier League and rebuilding the club to its glroy days under Juninho

Midway through January on my first career save. Started right at the start of the season and was hired by Cambridge United in League 2. Come to find out, my 2nd match is against Reading (what a way for a 24 year old manager to start). Somehow managed to pull it off though 2-1 (and Reading is rolling now btw, 4th in the Championship and Steve Clarke is now at Leicester). That was the only real highlight through the first half of November, as we were 50/50 and couldn't get anything going. Right when everything looked like it was about to go up in flames (lost at Oxford 6-1, and almost my whole starting midfield was starting to break down with injuries) we've pulled it together and go 10 games unbeaten right now and get to 2nd in the table.

Leading the league in goals (60 in 27 matches) thanks to two loanees: Shayon Harrison from Spurs (T-3rd w/ 15) and Sam Byrne from Everton (8th w/ 12). 3 of the top 4 in average rating comes from my midfield as well. Defense is beginning to shore up as well(8 goals allowed during the streak).

Hopefully FM doesn't pull a FM and this all goes down the drain, but I'm trying to use the January window to get ready for League 1 next season, which should help us in our title challenge.

I'm back y'all, and I'm playing the most unique FM career I've ever played. In fact, I'm pretty sure none of you ever had anything similar to this save.

About a month ago, my application to University College Dublin was accepted and I'll be starting my masters degree there in August. After googling about the sports on campus, I found out they have a football team playing in the second tier of Irish football! They even play in the Europa League in the first season! It was a no brainer, I had to try this team out.

I present you the University College Dublin football club!

The goal for the first season was promotion, plain and simple. To achieve that we strengthened our squad with some quality free transfers. Some key players left on a free transfer, but what can you do.

While we were knocked out early in all THREE cups, we managed to win our league and achieve automatic promotion to the Premier league.

By far the best part of the season was our European adventure. We managed to beat two European opponents before getting trashed by Trabzon. This successful European story gave us a huge financial boost, getting our balance over 400k.

                Here's our best player.

This has been A TON of fun so far, hopefully it continues the same way.

Really interesting read, thanks for posting.

I'm going to try and set up the Spurs scouting network like this, but there's one thing I can't figure out. He said he has his Head Scout(s) scouting "World", is there a way to do this in FM16? I can set it up to have all my scouts lining for hot prospects in various leagues or nations, but seemingly can't just set it to "world"

In the older FM games you could scout world...Don't think you can do that now so what I do is just have 2 scouts assigned to players only, not comps or regions

Season 1 of QPR back in the premier league is in the books. Quick refresher since last update, the board decided to finally give me lots of cash. And I used to it to bring back Charlie Austin. 4m, but since i had a sell on clause, i essentially got Spurs to take him on a 1 year loan for 5m fee.

Also brought in Lovren and Chalobah, tried to get Tecatito and Diego Reyes but the work permits office does not like me.

We hovered around 4th-8th in the table all season. We got to the final 3 matches with a shot at UCL

We beat Villa but Spurs dropped all 3 points at home to Liverpool

So we needed Newcastle to take any points plus a win vs Palace to finish 4th

                      Some good things

And we have a new stadium being built
Don't you EVER read my blog? It's gotten a lot better.

                        SEASON 2 (2016)

It was clear we needed to strengthen the team to compete on the highest level of Irish football. Many transfers were made and a lot of experienced veterans were brought in to help the team adjust to the Premier league. The biggest signing was Gary Shaw, who led the team with 27 goals in all competitions.

We started the season poorly and found ourselves in the relegation battle after 10 or so games. After that, the team started firing on all cylinders and moved all the way up to 3rd. In the end, our lack of experience and depth proved fatal for our European chances as we slipped to 4th and missed out on a European spot by 6 points.

We had a chance to redeem ourselves and qualify for the Europa League by winning the main cup, but lost in the semis. Here's an overview of our cup performances.

Because we didn't play in a European competition, finances took a significant hit, losing around 400k this year.

                              Strasbourg Season Two Update:

After achieving promotion from the Championnat de France National in year one, I was predicted to finish 20th and return back down to the Championnat National in year two. With no money to significantly improve my squad, and after a disastrous start saw my Strasbourg side stumble to one draw and four losses in our first five matches, it looked like that might come true. But then I switched my tactics, went ultra conservative (playing for draws) and slowly climbed my way up the table to an 11th place finish. The board were delighted at the mid-table finish, as my expectations were simply to avoid relegation.

My record could have been even better, but once I was guaranteed to not be relegated I played youth-team players in three matches to get them experience. And they were destroyed in two of them. But I had no shot at a promotion spot, so I have no regrets.

My goal in year three is to secure a top-half finish. I once again have made money but have been given none of it to spend (the board are a bunch greedy bastards), meaning I will have to improve the squad through the loan market. I asked for a higher wage budget, as mine is currently so low my players would earn more saying "Welcome to Walmart" for a living. But the greedy board declined my request, no doubt laughing heartily at the very thought of parting with a cent of the profits they just made.

Most of you already know this, but here's an awesome tip for everyone managing a lower league side or just in a terrible country.

Get a parent club. When I played with Paris FC, I took the best players Monaco's youth and reserves on loan and it helped A TON. Now in Ireland I got Brann from Norway as a parent. They gave me four players which are 10x better than any of my old players. And it's completely free, you even get a yearly fee for being a feeder club.
