On another note, I'm glad we're getting a new stadium in 2 years. That pitch is terrible.
That's throw the monitor out of the fourth story window stuff right there.

Bounced out of Champions League in the semifinals for the third year in a row, and for the second time in three years by Barcelona!!!

We ended up getting red cards in both the home and away legs. Casemiro got a second yellow card after going up 3-1 in the second half of the home leg, so I went contain for the rest of the game and we held on for a 3-1 victory. In the away leg (Lucas Silva had to start as our BWM since Casemiro was suspended as a result of the previous match), we were down 3-1 in the 92nd minute when Ramos got a second yellow card and was sent off (something that has not been uncommon for him this year....). We managed to hold on in extra time down a man and it went to a penalty shootout, but after making the first penalty, we inexplicably missed the next four penalty kicks and lost the penalty shootout 3-1. Just pathetic.

We had knocked out Manchester City, who won the last two Champions League Titles, in the quarterfinal round, too.

The worst thing is that Barcelona hasn't even been very good this year. Messi is out of the year and they are third in La Liga, over 20 points back from us. We also swept them in La Liga this year 2-0 (4-1 at home and 4-3 on the road).

At least we locked up La Liga with seven games to spare, though our form hasn't been as great since we locked it up, as we've now lost three games in league.

EDIT: As many red cards as we've racked up this year, maybe I should think about activating the "stay on feet" instruction.
SJ! Good to see ya on here again brother.

Did not know you were into the Futbol! Howm any red cards have you racked up? Real Madrid is one of my favorite squads.

Picked up 16, thought about doing a save with United, by they are too frustrating, so decided to take my talents to the Championship and Loftus Road.

Gonna see if I can hang on to Charlie Austin. Going to need him with Mr. Tony Fernandes giving zero cash

Spurs Year 2 is in the books. Runner Up this year!

Only 2 points behind Chelsea, who were the champions. I went on a good run towards the end of the season, so I kind of snuck up into 2nd. It never really felt like a title challenge until the last 4-5 weeks when I realized I might have a chance at it.

Overall, it was a very good year. Lost in the Europa League semis to Marseille, on penalties, so that sucked, but in the EPL, I was solid.

Juan Bernat has turned out to be a fantastic buy, from Bayern. He's a massive improvement over Danny Rose in that LB spot. Very good at finding an open guy in the box. In January, I wanted to bolster my LM position, because Heung Min-Son wasn't really doing it for me. He was adequate, but nothing special. I had quite a bit in the bank, so I made somewhat of an impulse buy, and splashed a little cash for 24 year old Felipe Anderson, attacking midfielder from Lazio. He played in 14 matches for me in the second half of the year, and scored 6 goals, assisting on 3 more. Pretty good output for him, so I'll be really interested to see what he can do with a full season next year. We broke our previous transfer record (Lamela) to purchase him, so hopefully he pans out.

Dele Alli was miraculous this season. He was routinely ending matches with a rating of 8.5+, and just making an impact. I have him at the DM spot, and have setup the tactics to have him next to another, more defensive minded DM, like Dier, Maia, or Bentaleb. That way, he can move up and make things happen offensively. He won the PFA Young Player of the Year award, so I'm really excited about him as he matures.

There was actually a pretty interesting relegation battle in the league this season. All 3 spots came down to the final week. West Brom played Huddersfield, and had they won, they would have stayed up, but they lost 0-1 and are going to the Championship. Man U had a really bad year. For much of the season, they were hovering around the 10-12 range. Around February they fired LVG, and at the end of the year, they went on a great run to finish 7th.

On to the Champions League, and a true title challenge next season!

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***

My dream season continues I wrapped up the league with 4 games left and have 3 more games to see if I can finish undefeated. The matches are against Chelsea, Arsenal, and Bournemouth. Not a cakewalk but worth a shot.

Harry Kane broke Andy Cole's record for most goals in a season. He currently sits on 39 goals and 13 assists in the Premier League with 3 games left. Lamela has 22 goals and 11 assists while Eriksen has probably been my best player overall with 15 goals and 20 assists.

Kane ended up with 42 goals on the season, with Lamela at 25, Eriksen at 20, Son at 17, Townsend at 15, and N'jie at 10. N'jie broke his leg near the end of March and is out for the season.

In the FA Cup, I beat Chelsea for the 5th time this season to get to the final and face..........NORWICH. Should be a good match but I'm looking to get the treble

Europa League. I beat Dortmund, Bordeaux, and Schalke to get to the finals to play Benfica.

After getting Dragowski and Embolo, I've already signed Dozzell, a young English midfield prospect, for next season. I also signed Emanuel Mammana for 5.25 million who my scouts really rate too. That's pretty much who I'm going to sign unless I sell some players. Lamela, Kane, Alli, and Eriksen are pretty much untouchable and while other guys like Mason, Townsend, Rose might be expendable, they are solid rotation players and homegrown for both club and country, which helps.

Gopher, this is how Alli developed for me playing him as 1st choice as a roaming playmaker alongside Dembele. He's done really well. The goals should hopefully come next season

this might be my favorite thing that's happened in FM. The history of Nottingham Forest makes the naming of this stadium all the better.

I finished 3rd in the League after being able to sign Mats Møller Dæhli and Martin Ødegaard for a combined £30m outlay. Victor Moses joined for £5m and ventured off to Fiorentina for £12.5m in January, and Jonny who joined that summer for £10m from Celta, left for £30m to Inter in January as well. Ended up going on a run in January and February that took us from mid-table to continental qualification, ended up in 3rd at the end of the year, I also made a sweet run in the Europa League losing to Valencia in the 2nd Knockout Round. Embarassingly lost to Leeds United in the third round of the Capital One Cup, but it was with mostly my U21 team.

Jurgen Klopp got sacked at Arsenal and I applied for the job, but they never even interviewed me before hiring Ignacio Ambriz from America(MEX), they ended up finishing 6th.

Your Alli looks a little better than mine. But yeah, he is really solid. He's already valued at $37,000,000 in my game.

In FM13, my formation of choice was a 4-2-3-1 wide that mirrored what Jurgen Klopp was doing at Dortmund at the time.

In FM15, I never could get that tactic to perform defensively like it did in 13. I ended up going with a 2-3-2-3 Guardiola at Barca tactic.

Not sure what I'm going to go with in 16. I already tried transferring my 15 tactic, and already I see that some of the instructions I gave out to my players in 15 aren't allowed in 16 for some reason.

Hey, man! I'm not a huge football fan, but I've gotten more into it in recent years. I decided to try to get more into text sims over the last few months due to my continuing frustration with sports games' gameplay, haha (though FM isn't a pure text sim as some others are). I also bought OOTP 16, but as I am someone who wants to manage every game, that's hard with 162 regular season games!

Ramos has five red cards this season: 1 in La Liga, 1 in the Copa Del Rey, and 3 in UEFA Champions League (in only 10 matches). That is a killer... Casemiro's only red card of the season came in the first leg of the Champions League Semifinal, but that was just dreadful.

Ronaldo was great this year at the ripe old age of 33. He racked up 41 goals in 36 appearances (31 starts), despite missing a significant portion of the season with injury last year. I do not believe he had any injuries this year.

It's just disappointing to still have Champions League slip from my grasp with my dominating performance in league, but there's always next year.

Anyways, I bought Paul Pogba this offseason for an obscene amount of money (maybe not wise, but I have so much transfer budget and so much free payroll budget that I don't know what to do with it!), so that'll be interesting sext season. Lincoln might also get called up to the senior squad (he's only loan now).

Going forward, I do want to start a save with a team without a dominating financial situation like Real Madrid. I've tinkered some with lower league management, but it's so confusing down there with transfers and terrible players abounding. Plus, the one- and two-year contracts and massive turnover yearly can be a bit tiring. Perhaps it would be better to run with a mid- or lower-table Premier League side or something of that nature? Any recommendations?

West Brom are my mid-table Prem team when I decide to move on from this Nottingham Forest save, though this year, I want to do more obscure management, so I might not get to that one this year. On that note, my Forest save has actually been really fun. Somehow Hugo Lloris fell out of favor at Spurs, so after my GK previous went off for £15m, I was able to nab the 31-year old Lloris as a replacement. My UCL Group is Real Madrid, Dynamo Kyiv and Olympiacos, I figure we'll drop down to Europa as i don't expect positive away results.
