Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Season 3 at Rangers...missed out on the domestic treble thanks to a god awful performance against Celtic in the Scottish Cup final. Was probably my fault as I blooded the youngsters for the final six matches of the season heading in, though the officials really screwed me over in that match and it got to my players.
Board gave me a $20 million transfer kitty this season. I used $225k and $1.1M respectively to make the loan deals of Tyrone Mings and Cieran Clark permanent. I think Mings can replace Wallace in a couple years and Clark proved suitable enough behind Danny Wilson and Cameron Carter-Vickers that I feel confident enough to move him into the #2 CB spot with youngster Ross McCrorie waiting in the wings. Also brought in Nando from Sheffield Wednesday (by way of Valencia) for $2.6M. Right wing has been a sore spot for me since I got here as Barry McKay has struggled and Martyn Waghorn is not a natural winger. Still haven't started the season yet...who knows what I'll do. I've managed to keep the big clubs in England from poaching James Tavernier.
Was listed as the most improved club in Europe and improved Scotland's coefficient enough that we once again get two teams into the Champions League after my run into the group stage.
Need to improve my team, even though we blitzed the SPL. This is evident by a 8-1 loss to Arsenal in Champions League action and a 4-1 loss to Celtic in the Scottish Cup.Comment

Well, so far it's been a nice Champions League run...
Second Qualifying Round: Defeat Mladost 10-1
Third Qualifying Round: Defeat Hapoel Be'er-Sheva 3-1
Playoff: Defeat Rijeka 4-0
Fairly easy run through the qualifying rounds.
So here's the group I'm handed.....
FC Bayern
Real Madrid
AS Roma (my parent club)

On one hand, I love how more dynamic the board and the owners are on this game compared to previous
On the other, I just fell out with Recreativo board, and I'm actively looking for new work while still managing this team.Support Local Sports

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
After losing 3 in a row in the league, the board informed me that they were losing confidence in me, in spite of my constant overachievement. I decided to resign before they fired me, and 5 months later I'm in charge at relegation-threatened, cash-strapped, in-takeover-turmoil Hertha Berlin. We'll see if I last the board takeover....Support Local Sports

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
I took some time off from playing. Started a new save tonight, ended up taking the St. Pats job (League of Ireland First Division) with 10 games to go in the season. Finished 3rd and qualified for EL early rounds for next season. And won the league cup. Which pushed a qualifying spot to 4th place. Losing two key players. One had agreed a transfer before I took the job, and the other was a loan who refuses to extend. Don't have jack in the way of funds for next season. So I'll have to get creative to bolster the squad for EL.
The addiction begins again.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Man, this board can kiss my arse.
This 19 year old kid was our best mid field player. They made a few offers prior just under 500K and I rejected them all. Trying to get 1 million out of them with intensives. Because he had a 4.5 star potential, and was dominating for us. I knew I couldn't hold him forever. But still. I can't work for a board that does this. I only get 5% of that money. I can't replace him. After already losing two other key players from last season. We can't compete now. I'm so angry.
