Basically, what I do is look at their previous contract and valuate how much better they have probably gotten since that contract was signed, and make adjustments off of there. If you didn't know, in the top left of the contract negotiation screen, there is a tab to view their previous or "existing" contract. That gives you a good barometer for what their lonely to expect.

I've found the signing bonus and agent fees are usually tough to negotiate, it seems that lowballing them on those (particularly if it's a dick of an agent) can end talks real quick. I try to get my wins in negotiating the weekly salary and taking out bonuses and clauses.

I also have some house rules, like I almost never give out yearly salary raises. I absolutely wrecked my finances like that early in my FM career with those. I was giving out 15-20% yearly raises like candy, signing new players, and my wage budget got out of control.

Ok guys have a quick question!

How do I sign players with 6 months left on the there contract, so they join me on a free transfer?

Example: I'm in year 2 of my Peterborough United save and I tried to find an option to sign Brad Guzan on a free...but everytime i try it says I have to pay a fee!

As a club in England, you can't sign another player from England like that. Only from other countries. And other countries can sign English players like that. I've never known the exact rule that overrides the EU bosman rule, or why this only applies to England, but it does.

And if memory servers, you can offer him a pre-contract to move (England to England) if he has less than 3 months on his contract (but that could be wrong). Also players have to be 24+ for any of this to work. But Guzan falls into that.

As an English club, you can start signing players from other English clubs to pre-contracts when they have 1 month left on their contract.

You can also sign players under 24 like this, but you'll pay compensation to the club. It will tell you how much that is on the contract screen.

Sortitoutsi has 3d kits there, but for not as many kits as their SS (the 2d kits on the info screen)

Just go to Kits - 3d Kits

What are your strategies for breaking through teams that park the bus? I played a match last night that ended in a 0-0 tie. The opposition (Preston North End) played a 5-1-3-1 formation so basically had 9 behind the ball at all times. We dominated possession but had a tough time even getting shots off let alone good scoring chances.

Try sitting deeper and inviting a little pressure. Let them come forward and pull players out of position, then hit them on counter-attacks when they have less numbers back.

It sounds a bit odd, but use a counter or defensive mentality. Because they are likely to drop into defense rather quickly, try more direct passing to take advantage of those times their defense is higher up the pitch. The "pass into space" instruction helps too, if you have pacey players to run onto those balls in space.

I'm sure there are better ways to handle teams like that, but that's how I generally do it with decent success.

Sitting deeper does work indeed. People may think overload will work best but if anything it causes more problems since it is just more bodies in the box.

Other ways is to play wide and spread the defense as much as possible to break the structure. This works best if you have a player that can play role of Trequartista with a Shadow Striker behind him and wingers as support.

Any tips on convincing a young player who is not interested in joining your club to join?

Trying to sign a 16 year old GK from Bayern, as Arsenal—agreed to a fee, declared interest in the media, and even set a loan back length, but he doesn't want to join as he wants to continue his development at Bayern.

Try again in the Winter or Summer?

Haha, there is that option. I just finally decided to stick with an Arsenal save and see how long I last before I'm sacked.

I've found stealing kids away from Bayern and RMA is the hardest. Those kids generally don't want to leave. But if you wait until they are 17 and can loan them, then you have a better shot after a loan spell. If you loan them for a year (or two) and give them some first team football, then you'll have a better shot at signing them. Otherwise you just have to wait a few years and hope they get tired of not getting first team football, and then will want to make a move away.

Do you guys even bother with team meetings before big games?

I HATE the logic with these team meetings. Just held one to encourage the players before the last game of the season, with promotion on the line.

I said something like: "We don't control our own destiny, but go out there and play your best to try and secure promotion!"

And like the whole team had a negative reaction saying I was "building up the match too much, based on what was expected of them before the season"

Wtf? Some words of encouragement before a big match and they get pissy because we weren't expected to be in this position at the beginning of the season? I should just skip doing them.
