We must fight to keep beautiful tackling - and that’s tackling with the desire to get the ball back, rather than jumping in at any cost.

Managers have an important part to play - we are all responsible for the behaviour of our teams.

The Spoiler assumes Jack Wilshere was away when Wenger was relaying this sermon to his own players.

By the way, just so everyone’s clear:
Jack mistimed his tackle and got a red card, which he deserved. I think he mistimed his tackle, his first touch let him down. He didn’t complain about it. There was no intention to harm the player.

He is not a dirty player.

Uh-huh. We’ll just leave this here:
Spare me the articles about how nice Shawcross is because the same thing happened [with Taylor] after Eduardo’s injury.

    100% “CAREER RED CARDS” TRUFAX!

    - Ryan Shawcross: 1 in 5 seasons

    - Martin Taylor: 2 in 13 seasons

    - Jack Wilshere: 1 in 3 seasons

    …just sayin’.

No one denies Wilshere's tackle was a red, but the fact that both his and Shawcross's tackle deserved reds is where the similarities end. A tackle from the side, that takes out the foot, and maybe distal part of the ankle, is a lot different than a straight on tackle in dead in the middle of a guy's leg. Don't embarrass yourself further by comparing them.

I'm still laughing about that. After that and his earlier blunder, I'd say he's having a worse CL campaign than Fabianski did last year.

The fact that I feel like a pedophile having a mancrush on him. And I'm only 21!

I love everything about Wilshere. His hustle, his touch, his toughness even for being a little guy. I can picture him and Ramsey dominating the middle of the pitch in 3 years and I ****ing love it.

His aggressive nature is showing signs of forming into a reckless nature. However, he's still learning, and that along with offensive skills are something he'll continue to develop.

Me too. I have a man-crush on Ramsey too and they're going to be a force assuming Cesc ends up leaving.

Anyhow, that game on Tuesday was hilarious as that keeper was horrid for SD. In any event, we're almost through to the next round and that's where the real fun will start

I think you need a little bit of that, especially at a club like Arsenal who has a reputation for being soft. As a Chelsea supporter I can admit that the kid is a stud.

I love his aggressive nature. Love it. In fact, we're slowly stepping up in that department. Cesc has also shown a more aggressive streak recently with tackles. With Jack, though, I think he's still learning when not to make a tackle like he did last weekend.

However, I'll gladly take him learning and go through the growing pains of him getting cards and what not if it means having as talented of a midfielder as him who also will not be physically intimidated.

Last year, Song was really stepping up in that department. Never afraid to make the foul in the middle of the park that would stop an opponent's break. One that who knew would possibly get him a yellow, but it had to be done. This year, he's almost committing too many silly little fouls where he doesn't need to. Still, he's learning as well I guess.

Arsenal up 1-0 to Man City at half with Man City down 1 man. This game tell me a lot about how Arsenals squad is if they mess this one up.

So what did the squad tell you? That they're finally ready to start playing like they want to achieve something and they will not be physically intimidated? Me too.

Outstanding game. There are many who will say we only beat a side with ten men, but if Chelsea or United do it, then they'll be seen as punishing the opponent for their mistake, where we'll be seen as needing an extra man to win a game. Oh well, I'll take the three points along with the unnecessary verbal jabs that come with it.

                        Well done, lads.

There is probably not going to be much more than a handful of point taken out of the Eastlands this year, so great result. I still need to see us do that to the other Manchester side or Chelsea before I fully believe that were ready to make a serious run. We aren't intimidated by City.

I agree with everything you said.

I also hope Cesc stays healthy. His through-ball to set up the red card was pure class, and he was pulling all the strings while he was in the game, even tracking back and making great tackles.

Seemed like someone (Mancini?) put a hit out on Fabs. City were going after him early on. Surprised he didn't get hurt.
