If Sagna is the only casualty, then I'll take it. He might need a break anyway after the Chelsea performance. After taking a look at the game a second time, he was pretty bad back there. Which is odd for Bacary, he is usually pretty solid, and one of our most consistent players, imo.

Random thoughts from today:
+ Chamakh is definitely getting a reputation as someone who goes to ground easily, as when he does it's always in dramatic fashion. Legs pulled up, arms up in the air. The penalty definitely appeared to be a dive, which is a real shame, because it's not needed. It will be interesting to see how another foreign player is treated by the English media, though. Either way, it could be avoided if he didn't simulate.
+ Diaby had an absolutely incredible game. One or two times he held up play where I would've liked to see him push it, but he nearly went by defenders at will.
+ Rosicky should be starting in place of Arshavin. Period.
+ Wilshere once again had an outstanding performance, except the the tackle resulting in a red card. If that tackle was made on an Arsenal player, I'd call for a red, so I have no complaint with the result. He didn't need to make the challenge, but at the same time, it's nice to see he has an aggressive streak. However, he needs to keep it as aggression and not let it turn into recklessness.
+ By far, the worst commentary I have ever heard. When your color commentator openly says he'll have a hard time not being biased, you know you're in for some laughs. His partner referred to Diaby as Eboue for the first thirty minutes of the game, all while stilling referring to Eboue as Eboue. There are too many instances where I shook my head to mention them all, but the last was when they compared Wilshere's tackle to Taylor's on Eduardo. Wilshere's tackle was bad and a red card, but it was not the same level as Taylor's. I hate to sound like a broken record, but it was the usual attitude that we see towards Arsenal.
Fantastic to see we picked up three points, as Chelsea and United both dropped points. Now City just needs to drop some tomorrow and we're in a decent position.Comment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal "Gunners" Thread***
Agreed, the announcing was atrocious. There was one sequence where they were keeping track of whether each Arsenal attack resulted in a shot, which was so clearly biased. I agree that Arsenal can frustratingly overpass at times, but take any team and shots vs. attacks and it won't be pretty.Comment

Agreed. He's got great pace and control for such a long guy. His cutbacks and decision-making were beautiful.Hank's Custom Collectibles 3D printer/painter extraordinaireComment

Diaby shows flashes of brilliance too bad he is the most inconsistent player I've ever seen. He just doesn't seem to have that competitive fire it takes to get to that next level. Its sad because the guy has the potential to be an elite player."The academic support at Ohio State, there is no way you can fail. Even if you're giving minimal effort there is no way you can fail."

So, what you're saying is exactly what I'm now expecting from him. Awful marking in the next two games which will lead to game winning goals from the opposition.Comment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal "Gunners" Thread***
Arsene Wenger in the programme notes ahead of Arsenal’s match against Birmingham this weekend:
What has got lost is the technique of the tackle: a tackle with two legs should be an automatic red card, but a good tackle is technically beautiful to watch. That means that your feet are on the ground, you are getting the ball back and only playing the ball.
We must fight to keep beautiful tackling - and that’s tackling with the desire to get the ball back, rather than jumping in at any cost.
Managers have an important part to play - we are all responsible for the behaviour of our teams.
The Spoiler assumes Jack Wilshere was away when Wenger was relaying this sermon to his own players.
By the way, just so everyone’s clear:
Jack mistimed his tackle and got a red card, which he deserved. I think he mistimed his tackle, his first touch let him down. He didn’t complain about it. There was no intention to harm the player.
He is not a dirty player.
Uh-huh. We’ll just leave this here:
Spare me the articles about how nice Shawcross is because the same thing happened [with Taylor] after Eduardo’s injury.

Eboue's scissor tackle earlier in the game should have received a red card, as well. Especially since it was damn near a carbon copy of De Jong's tackle.
Are you expecting us to be the Arsenal fans that the media only references? The ones who believes no Arsenal player could ever do any wrong? Sorry to disappoint you.Comment

Cesc will be available tommorrow, Wenger said he's undecided if he'll start, but he's fit and ready to go. Good news, he and Walcott should be back on the pitch within a week. Bendtner is already back and Sanga won't be out much longer either.

Whoever that GK was that you guys were facing has got to be the worst in the CL right now, doesn't he? The fact that Chamakh looked to see if he was onsides on that late goal just shows what Chamakh thought of the guys abilityComment
