I appreciate everything that Wenger has done for he club. As much as I detest his current state, we can't even be the butt of jokes without him, we'd probably just be an upper midtable with other managers. However it's also important to realize it's time for a change, Wenger seems out of his depth at times and the excuses are piling up, we should be hanging with the big boys now but we're still on the outside looking in.

We just loaned Joel Campbell to Sporting Lisbon. It didn't matter how well Campbell played last season, because Wenger just didn't seem to trust him or want to give him any game time, so this move doesn't surprise me. I wish Campbell hadn't been loaned, though, as I think he provided great depth. He worked hard every game, fought to win back every ball he lost, and demonstrated he had decent end product. If we get into another wide-man injury crisis like last season, he might be sorely missed.

Personally I think Campbell is super overrated. Slow, one-footed, one-trick pony.

I think he tracks back on defense and in general shows more passion and drive than Theo or Ox usually do.

That's why I always got sick of not seeing him used. He works his *** off when he's out there.

he deserves to play for this team, more than some players currently. If it were me, I would have asked for a transfer rather than going out on loan.

I'm guessing we may have seen the last of him and could see him transfer next Summer.

If we were a different club loaning him out could be the sign of us bringing in a new player, but for us we know it's just to make sure Theo and Ox are the top choices, and perhaps it means Gnabry gets a run in the side.

I don't think you'll find a fan that doesn't appreciate all Wenger has done. Regardless of what's happened, I will always be grateful for the success Wenger has brought to the team.

The reality is that Wenger now, has let the game pass him by. Where he once was the pioneer of bringing in solid young players from abroad, he has let his stubborn nature take over. Instead of challenging for the title, this team will be fighting to stay in the top 4.

He still believes that you can't overvalue players. I agree and support that, but transfer fees have increased since the Prem teams started earning more cash. You're not going to get the next Pires or Henry at the prices from 16 years ago. He needs to understand that 20-30 million is what it takes these days. It's not like the club is in dire need of cash either

The other issue with Wenger is that I believe he has overestimated the talents of some of his players and that has cost him. Gibbs, Ox, and Walcott were the ones that were supposed to come good after Cesc, RVP, Nasri et al left. Only Aaron Ramsey has turned into a very good player while Wilshere gets hurt too often to fairly assess.

While he was able to sign Ozil, Alexis, Koscielny, Nacho, Cech, and now Xhaka, he has also failed to sign a true world class striker. Giroud is not a world class striker. Every Arsenal fan has seen hat yet we never seem to sign one. Meanwhile, Chelsea can sign Costa, United - Ibrahimovic. We don't have a Harry Kane on the horizon.

Then we have the current situation with the defense. It is inexcusable that the only signing we made was a 20-year-old prospect. Instead of getting a younger and better player in Mustafi, we might end up with a below average Jonny Evans. Why? Because he's cheaper. Note to Wenger: he's cheap for a reason - he sucks.

So don't make a blanket statement that we won't appreciate him when he's gone. I will, but that doesn't mean I'm going to sit there and gloss over the stagnation of this team in the last decade

If we're going to go on about trying to win a title, Campbell deserves to play here even less than Jonny Evans.

Joell is on 30k week. While that's peanuts compared to Ozil and Alexis it's probably more than what he's going to make on the open market these days.

You guys forgot Bellerin. He's class and will definitely be Barca bound when his deal is up.

You guys haven't been outside the Top 4 in God knows how long. Hell, you guys just finished 2nd while Leicester had the most improbable run in history.

Shouldn't the fact that he's NOT making huge transfers every year and still finishing Top 4 be a testament TO his managerial ability? United, City, Chelsea all have made the big signings and all have all finished outside the Top 4 in recent years below Arsenal. From my point of view, it is hard to believe the game has passed by someone who can pull that off without making huge signings.

And I only made the comment because every time I visit the forum, everyone is calling for his head when the numbers just don't look like he's a bad manager to me. But I'm just a casual premier fan of late, because I just don't have time to follow as closely as I used to.

So don't pay me much attention. Mentally, I might just still be stuck in 2004.

You raise good points, however, we were a distant second last year --and everyone knows that. It's obvious we could use some depth at key positions (CB, ST), but he can't seem to find the right pieces.

It's very frustrating considering we are "right there", and presumably could BE THERE if we strengthened the squad.

The problem is that we're not getting better. Also finishing second last year was simply because no other team wanted to finish second, by the way we were playing, we weren't even thrilled with it. Stagnation is real, and personally I'd love to see Arsenal take that leap to next tier of clubs, we have the capability, but we continue to hamstring ourselves unnecessarily.

There's no excitement with this club. At all. We are two games into a brand new season and spirits are remarkably low. We should all be excited for the new opportunity for trophies, but nobody thinks we will be able to contend for any.

We aren't bringing in players, we are are playing guys out of position (Sanchez), and our style of play is rather underwhelming.

It's time for a change, in one way or another.

Look at the buzz around the likes of City and United bringing in Guardiola, Stones, Mane, etc; and Mourinho, Ibra, Mikhitariyan (sp?), and freaking Pogba for crying out loud.

We can't even agree to a (approx) £25m fee on Mustafi.

Not saying Pogba will win them a title because of his cost, but the club is willing to make the moved they feel necessary to contend for a title. We aren't.

Everyone thinks Arsenal will be their usual top 4 contender, nothing more--nothing less.
