Now his teams are constantly bottling everything while he does weird experiments with already established players.

    It's just kind of bizarre.
It's as if he's lost that winning mentality as he's aged.

What's even weirder is that he's in a contract year so you'd think he want to stick around and reap some of that TV money that managers are going to earn.

Contract year for Arsene Wenger, as if it won't be renewed no matter where we finish.

        Contract year, hahahahahahahaha.

Rumors have resurfaced again with you guys interested in signing Jonny Evans from WBA. I'm sorry but Jonny Evans? Loosen the purse strings a little and think big for once Arsene.

Arsene Wenger has looked at the Northern Ireland international as a possible solution to his centre-back crisis at Arsenal but is yet to make a bid for the West Brom defender.

                It's seriously pathetic.

We could sign a 24-year-old defender that would immediately push Mertesacker out of the starting eleven if we just spent the money that it would take.

Instead we'd rather go after Jonny Evans.

Jonny Evans is great defender and we'd do well to get him. Easily better than Mertesacker and Gabriel, and proven in the PL. We could stand to do much worse than Jonny Evans, just because he's not young and flashy doesn't make him a bad signing.

I'd take him over nobody (obviously), but if it's a sad day if that's the type of signing we end up with as opposed to someone at the level of Mustafi due to Arsene refusing to accept it's no longer 1998 and transfers cost ****ing money.

But you're agreeing the players are not on the same level—so why would we not want to sign the better player?

It's also about ambition. To me, signing Evans means we're signing depth, where signing Mustafi shows intent and ambition and that we're bringing in a player who can improve the squad based on his performances, not just based on his ability to provide cover and be in the squad as a body.

They're two entirely different signings in terms of what it says about the state of the club.

Also if depends on money. Mustafi at 30+ or Evans below 15. I don't think the gap in talent is significant enough to warrant that price difference. Also Evans is more than just depth, he's easily starting calibre. He just doesn't have the same name value because he's cut his teeth at West Brom.

Cut his teeth at West Brom? He moved there a year ago and he's 28.

Is he starting quality for what should be expected out of a club like Arsenal? Because that's the real question. Once again, it comes down to intent and ambition. If we've decided that Jonny Evans is the caliber of player that starts at Arsenal without question then we have bigger issues than I thought we did.

We're supposed to be a team that challenges for the Champions League and Premier Leauge title. If we've accepted that Jonny Evans will do, then we should be just fine and happy with our top four finishes.

Ugh Jonny Evans???? This reminds of our other terrible defenders we signed:

                              Pascal Cygan
                              Mikael Silvestre
                              An ageing Sol Campbell

Evans is definitely worse than Mustafi. He couldn't get game time at United over a midfielder being played out of position and Rojo, who I'm not even sure understands the concept of defending.
