Well, that is what I mean. Can they pay it, yes. Can they pay it and not be severely in debt, no. It's the main reason I don't see a bid coming from Barca this Summer. They're seriously in debt and have even said they must address it. It's times like these where I love supporting a financially sound club.

How true. You can tell now that other teams want to emulate the Arsenal style. Heck, I even do that when I manage another team in Football Manager.
While there aren't any drafts in football, you need to develop your own players to win consistently. Having said that, my only issue with Wenger is that he's so stubborn to his system that it can hurt him. I know he hates overpaying for players, but we were crying for a centre-back and he didn't buy one. It's not because he doesn't have money to spend either
Sigh. It can't all be perfect all the time eh?Comment

The Red Sox have a similar philosophy. They set a value on a guy for how much they feel he is worth and will not overpay. As a result they have lost out on some big name free agents, but they've developed so well from within (Youkilis, Pedroia, Lester, etc.) that they are able to consistently contend. The difference is that they will, on rare occasion, overpay if they feel they absolutely have to. The Sox were short on outfield depth and offered Carl Crawford more than he was worth. They desperately needed another outfielder, Crawford was the only quality alternative left on the market, and they made their move. Now obviously the transfer market and the free agent system are entirely different animals, but I wish Wenger would take this approach. If he had, we likely would have had a new defender come to team in January. I'm not saying become the Yankees (Chelsea, Man City, etc.) and throw tons of money around, but I'd rather be like the Sox (only spend what you have but occasionally overpay) than the Tampa Bay Rays (rarely spend at all, only develop from within). I know baseball and soccer are different, but a friend made the analogy earlier, and I thought it fit quite well. If horrid defending costs us down the stretch we might be looking back at January and ruing our failure to bring someone in, especially when Wenger admitted defense was a major need.Comment

I think it would be a moot point either way. I don't Cesc would accept a transfer to Chelsea even if the club agreed to sell.
The only reason Torres went to Chelsea is because he was tired of losing and not playing in the Champions League. We don't currently have that problem."The academic support at Ohio State, there is no way you can fail. Even if you're giving minimal effort there is no way you can fail."

Looks like we may have good news for a change when it comes to injuries with Djourou."The academic support at Ohio State, there is no way you can fail. Even if you're giving minimal effort there is no way you can fail."

As for Djourou, only bruising it seems. Huge, huge news if it turns out to be true.Comment

Maybe Wenger could do a buy one - get one free deal like some stores do.Comment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal "Gunners" Thread***
If he could sell Squillaci for free, I'd be happy at this point.
Cesc won't go to Chelsea period. He genuinely loves Arsenal and has always tried to be respectful of the fans even when he wanted to go to Barca. If not Barca, then he will stay at Arsenal. I have no doubts about that piece.
Now I have a question. What's the best way to get Arsenal tickets?Comment

Squillacci is like Silvestre...only slower."The academic support at Ohio State, there is no way you can fail. Even if you're giving minimal effort there is no way you can fail."
