Re: ***The Official Arsenal "Gunners" Thread***
Bring Almunia back. Mannone may turn out to be a good keeper in a couple of years, but he isn't ready yet.
Carlton Cole was a beast yesterday. I don't think he lost a single header the whole game. Horrible result considering what the teams ahead of us in the table did this weekend. That was a perfect chance to pick up some points.
Big week coming up with Liverpool in the Carling Cup and the North London Derby on the weekend."The academic support at Ohio State, there is no way you can fail. Even if you're giving minimal effort there is no way you can fail."

Fabianski is set to return, and I think we might be seeing him in the starting roll. Now, I would rather see Almunia, but I don't think we will.Comment

I hope not. Mannone is a better option than Fabianski, that guy will not stay on his line."The academic support at Ohio State, there is no way you can fail. Even if you're giving minimal effort there is no way you can fail."

NO! vito is not top quality, but at least he attacks the set pieces... with our lack of height, we need that type...
also, hello samir nasri... thanks for joining us for this carling cup match!Comment

With Nasri back, I can't wait for Walcott to return. Having Arshavin, Nasri, Walcott, Fab and RVP switching positions will be a nightmare for defenses to deal with.Last edited by ak47; 10-27-2009, 11:17 PM.Comment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal "Gunners" Thread***
Good game all around though. I was more looking forward to seeing some of our fringe players getting a run out and finally getting a peak at Aquilani in a Reds shirt.
Great goals by Fran Merida and Insua and Bendtner's goal was shocking marking on our part but that's nothing new.Comment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal "Gunners" Thread***
I've been reading a lot of praise for Aaron Ramsey lately. I haven't seen too much of him this year, but he does look different. Namely more mature, both in terms of his physique and composure on the pitch. I think the new formation is a good fit for him as one of the two more advanced mids.
Still wish we had some cover for DM. I'm afraid if Song goes down (isn't he out in January for the ACN?) Wenger will abandon the 4-3-3 since we don't have another true DM. I guess if Denilson recovers he could play there (not a great fit, but he'll at least work), but his injury is like Gilberto's and that had him out for a long time. Plus it isn't the type of injury you want to bring him back from and say "OK, how's that broken vertebrae? Now go be our hard man out there!"Comment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal "Gunners" Thread***
Songs absence is definitely going to hurt. He has turned out to be a pretty darn good holding mid for us. The 4-3-3 has turned out to be a very good for us. We should be able to get by with running a 4-4-2 why Song is out though.
As long as Wenger keeps Cesc out of the secondary striker role and can keep a guy like Diaby from wandering out of position we should be alright. Remember, Nasri, Ramsey, and Rosicky can play the in the central part of midfield as well."The academic support at Ohio State, there is no way you can fail. Re: ***The Official Arsenal "Gunners" Thread***
Is Vela hurt again? I saw he wasn't even the bench for the CC match.
Also Wenger going after another Mexican, maybe...
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is understood to be keeping a close eye on Mexican wonderkid Martin Galvan after receiving rave reviews on the Cruz Azul starlet.
Galvan, 16, is already courting plenty of attention in his homeland and in South America after becoming the youngest player in Mexican football history to feature in the top-flight at 14 years and 335 days.
His talent and performances have not gone unnoticed in Europe, with Barcelona reported to have invited Galvan for a trial in 2006, but he was unable to make the trip to Catalunya.
And now the Daily Mirror are reporting that Wenger is now keeping a close eye on his development after being alerted to him following Galvan's three goals in three appearances for Mexico's Under-17 side at the CONCACAF U17 Championship earlier this year.Last edited by Mo; 10-29-2009, 05:34 PM.Comment
