They are still looking for a defender, I heard Per Mertesacker is a possibility, as well as Gary Cahill which some of you guys know.

There's talk about a swap deal with Lorient. Carlos Vela for defender Bruno Ecuele Manga. He's a Gabon international and coincidently replaced Koscielny in the Lorient lineup when he moved to Arsenal.

        Nooooooooo!

We need someone who has proven they can play in this league.

Ryo Miyaichi has been granted a work permit. He's only 18 years old, but he played regularly for Feyenoord and should see some action this season for the Gunners.

Looking forward to seeing him this season. Sounds like a really good prospect.

Fabregas & Nasri both included in the CL squad for the game against Udinese. Should they partake that would pretty much scupper their moves to Barca & Man City.

What's the rule on that? They aren't Cup tied unless they're at least an unused sub, right?

I think if they are on the bench but don't come on they are not considered cup-tied.

Some good news, Ryo Miyaichi has received his UK work permit and can now stay with the team in London. Woo.

Interesting, as it seems like he will be with the first team as well as newly signed AOC.

Re: ***The Official Arsenal "Gunners" Thread***

Just a quick thing about Nasri and Fabregas being in the CL squad for Udinese...It doesn't matter if they are in the team, play, and Arsenal lose. They would still be able to play for a team in the Champions League proper.

But, regardless of whether or not they play (at this point I could care less), and Arsenal appear to be going through, then their transfer "sagas" would have a real fire lit under them at the prospect of being cup tied.

I just hope the players that DO want to play for Arsenal are fully fit by this weekend. Gibbs, TV, V. Persie, Wilshere and Walcott (maybe more?) are all question marks heading into a game that I for one am very curious to watch. For all of their own problems, I will never forget what Newcastle did to us last year after going 4 goals up and am anxious to see how we play.

The season is almost here - I will be rooting hard for the name on the front of the shirts much harder than I will for any ONE name on the back of them.

Words can't describe how brilliant that was.

                              Cesc was right-and now it looks like you'll lose Nasri;
doubtless you'll replace them with a few more Squillacis.

                              That's gold!

Yeah, that made me laugh so hard. And then when Wenger came on and said finishing top 4 was better than a trophy and the club needed to be self-sufficient and worry about financial fair play. Just absolutely brilliant work by Gunnerblog.
