A few sources including The Independent have linked you with Werder Bremen's Per Mertesacker. He is great from set-pieces due to his height, 6 ft 6 in.

I think there is still time to get a CB, but really arsenal a 17 year old, really.

He was playing in League 2 when he was 16, so he has experience. We're always going to make these signings, plus he'll count as homegrown.

A signing like that is fine as long as we sign a CB, which I still think we'll do. I can not see us not signing one before the window closes. Will it be this week? Maybe not, but I still think we step up and pay.

I'm almost afraid to tell you he played in League One last year...

His size would be welcome, but some with greater knowledge than I express serious concerns regarding his lack of pace if asked to play in Arsenal's high-line defensive system.

Most likely wasn't as complex. I'm sure Southampton were more than happy to take the money and be done with it.

I still think before this window closes we sell him and Eboue. To not reinvest it would be, well...insane.

We have to reinvest. Our defense as it stands has looked horrible. Yes, it's only preseason, but the defense shouldn't look this bad in preseason.

If we don't sign at a CB, I'm going to have low expectations for this season. Lower than I currently do.

It's crazy to think that one player could help, but they will. The second we have Squillaci starting, we're ****ed.

Supposedly something came out regarding all of the Blackburn players and that it may cause a lot of them to leave or to be able to be sold. Not sure exactly what the story all entailed because I didn't get a chance to read fully. Hopefully though it means we bring in Samba before the weekend.

Apparently we're ready to sell Nasri to City if they offer £25 million. Something tells me if we want to sell, they'll pay whatever we ask. My guess? Nasri is gone by the weekend.

One of the long-running transfer sagas of the summer may be coming to a conclusion as Arsenal await a bid from Manchester City for Samir Nasri

Eh, here is an article from July talking about the same thing. Not sure how actual any of it is.

Steve Kean was facing fresh turmoil at Ewood Park on Wednesday night after it emerged he may have to cash in on experienced central defender Christopher Samba.

Article on Chamberlain. I must say, I'm excited about him in the future. Can use both feet equally as his father trained him as a child to always use both. Nice.

Vela to Lorient? From Sky Transfer Ticker:
