So, Gibbs and Djourou both went out with injured hamstrings today.

If they're both going to be out for a considerable amount of time, we're in near injury crisis and shows yet again that we need actual depth on this team.

Yeah, the positive is we won, the negative is we are in trouble against Liverpool if too many players are out.

We're in serious trouble against United the following week.

I don't think I've ever been more ready for Arsene to drop some serious cash, now. As in, the money from Cesc and Nasri, plus the £30 million or so that we had before any sales. Spend it all. Do something.

As for changing with the times, one of the issues is I think Wenger believes that running the club the way we are and finishing 4th or better each year is impressive. So, it's as if he feels in a way his system is working because it's the opposite of what everyone else does, yet we still do well.

Only issue is well isn't good enough.
You hit it on the head my friend with this post. I would really like to see Wenger bring in some depth. As he has no real cover at RB with Eboue gone and with Denilson gone no real cover for Song, it is not looking good in the depth department. I felt Wenger could have planned this better.

The Bay of Pigs was planned better than this season.

We are in some major trouble right now depth wise. Arsene needs to splash some cash and fast. That Udinese tie is far from over as well.

**Arsene Wenger voice** But I'd spend 30 or 40 mil in a heartbeat if we found the right players. But it's about finding the right players. Quality players. I won't spend money just to spend money. That's why I brought in Silvestre, Squillaci, Francis Jeffers, Pascal Cygan, Richard Wright, Igors Stepanovs, Oleg Luzhny, Jose Antonio Reyes and other fantastic players over the years. **Arsene Wenger voice**

Yeah, this baffles me. He says we need to bring in quality, better quality than what we have now, if we are going to spend. The minute I finished reading him say this, I see rumors that we're in talks with Andrey Ayew. How does he qualify as more quality than players like Cahill, Samba or Mata? Granted it may not have had any backing to the rumor but it goes on all the time. Wenger must realize that an 8-10M player from 2000 is not the same quality as an 8-10M player now. He needs to get with the program and realize that when we have this 70-100M to spend on new players, that it is money that was put aside for strictly that. Spending it won't hurt our finanacial stability.
What also baffles me is the basic math Wenger seems to be missing. He acknowledged last year that we may have struggled a bit with our depth due to injuries and fatigue toward the end of the season. If we have sold or loaned out 5 players from that squad last year and only brought in 3 to replace them, we will still have those same depth problems, plus more. Having only 4 CB last year was troublesome for us once TV5 was injured. Now he is back and Wenger doesn't buy a 5th in case another is injured this year. Our LB and RB only had 2 players at each position for 4 in total, we've sold 2 and replaced 1, again just simple numbers that he isn't rectifying in terms of just depth at a position. I understand he won't necessarily bring in the players we want him to becuase that's how he is, but for him to not realize how thin our squad is worries me.
We're only 2 games into the season and were already having injury woes, combined with match-bans for red cards and our starting midfield for Liverpool could be Ramsey, Rosicky and Frimpong. Hopefully Wenger sees this as a very scary prospect the way all of us do and as most of you have said, bring in players quickly.

Good result, all things considered, especially the clean sheet. Should've had a second, but their keeper made a nice save of Theo and a few other chances went begging.

The injuries to Gibbs & Djourou are bad news... I suspect we'll see Squillaci & Koscielny at CB and Vermaelen at LB against Liverpool. Coupled with no Song shielding the back line and it could be very bad news. At least Walcott seems to be recovered from his bum ankle, as he adds something in attack provided someone can get him the ball in good positions.

I doubt it, as of yesterday he was still in a walking boot.

Are we getting third kits this year? I want to get a jersey for this year but I kind of want something different than a red jersey, and I hate the blue diagonal jerseys.

What a sad day, my highlight of the season just might be a badass third kit.

Will probably reuse the yellow away as a third. Lets hope we have a European campaign before worrying about which kit we will wear against a team who wears blue and red piping.

Blah, I already have the yellow. Looks like the blue jersey for me. I have faith we'll get past Udinese, Gervinho and Song will be well rested.
