Sahin would be a fantastic replacement. I really hope this rumor is true.
Sahin is more of an attacker than a holding mid.

Yep. He's perfect for the second role in midfield which distributes and occasionally moves up, but he's not a defensive midfielder.

This could just mean that we slightly rework the formation, etc.

        Gibbs-TV5-Kosc-Sagna
        Sahin-Arteta
        Santi
        Ox-Giroud-Podolski

        Does that seem right?

True, but Song really does not play like a holding midfield at all which is why Arsenal was always exposed at the back. As much of attacking brilliance Song added to the team he totally would disregard his holding midfield position and wander up field constantly. I do not mind him leaving but if that is the case I hope it means Arsenal picks up a true holding midfield.

I see Walcott starting over Ox....for now. However, I really hope we don't sell Song Arsenal need players who are experienced in the EPL. Also, if Arsenal ARE playing that type of formation I hope we see a more disciplined back line and Vermaelen cuts out on his forward attacks.

I too would like to keep Song, or bring in a holding mid like M'Vila if he leaves, as I don't trust Diaby to bring the physical midfield presence Song did, both from a talent and durability prospective.

I let my feelings about the RvP***k transfer be known on Twitter...a lot more "friendly" for my views and language.

Song can do one as well, apparently he's been acting like a righteous douche so if he wants to go to Barca, so be it.

Sahin is coming...I think he is being viewed as Arteta's eventual replacement.

We need another true central DM...M'Vila would be the obvious choice but I want Capoue.

So who's playing the role of Song today? Is it Diaby or is Arteta sitting back?

Honestly, I think it'll be a bit of both.

But we now know we'll be bringing in a midfielder.

A fully fit Song is not starting.

Even my cynicism believes we'll bring someone in. It won't b he menacing defensive midfielder we all crave, but we'll add someone to keep our depth.

I really, really hope Diaby can stay fit.

Such a physical specimen. Incredibly strong but equally fluid on the ball.

Aside from the lack of a goal, that was a great first half. Arsenal looked so dangerous, they defended well, and are in complete control.

That being said, we've seen those games where they dominate for 89 minutes but one defensive lapse leads to a 0-1 loss. Let's hope this isn't one of those games.
