Podolski's goal was amazing, and it was great seeing Wilshere finally get a goal.
I was expecting our last group stages game might be quite the stressful affair, but thankfully we booked our passage through and I can rest easy. Good for Arsenal, and good for my prospects of not having a heart attack in the near future.Comment

Big news today, fellas. We've signed a new sponsorship deal with Emirates that will see is get paid £30 million a season. We currently only get £5.5 million a season.
Say what you want, but this is big for the club. It's all related back to the stadium deal, and how that hurt our finances on the beginning to an extent, but will now slowly see us have more and more cash.
I know, I know, we always have cash. Not like this, though. As much as we're sick of hearing about it, there has been a long-term plan from the start with the stadium and part of getting it built was taking less than great up front deals, which we can now renegotiate and be paid the same other clubs are. Not to mention, eventually the stadium will be pumping lots of money into the club.
The youth policy was partly due to the stadium, and we all know that. In the next few years, I think we'll start to throw around a bit more money.
Bottom line is I'm thankful that our club is stable and has a plan, even if it pisses us off at the present.
Only thing that sucks is that it extended naming rights to the stadium until 2028. I'm hoping that some day we'll just get to call it Ashburton Grove, and not just the area that. Oh well.Last edited by Krebstar; 11-23-2012, 11:56 PM.Comment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
that is very good news. wonder what their financial plans are now. do we spend to bring in best talent available in our price range? do we spend to bring in young players who can provide depth now? and maybe eventually grow into the starting player. do we build up the youth teams and promote our depth from there?Comment

We're never going to be at the City or Chelsea level of spending, which is more than fine. However, I think in the next few years we'll be more willing to spend £20 million on a player than we are now.
I'm just excited for tomorrow. Not having to wake up for an early game is wonderful.Comment

We'll find out this Summer, and that all depends on how we do this season.

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
0-0.
It's very telling that late in a game we bring on Arshavin at one point, and later Coquelin at another for Giroud. Some depth is needed.
The positive was that even though we were tested, defensively we looked pretty good. Much more like we did early in the season. We would let Villa have possession, but would have two firm lines across the field protecting our box. Much more organized than we have been in recent weeks, so that is nice to see.Comment

I doubt we'll see that in the near future. Wenger loves Cazorla in the middle dictating play. Although, I wouldn't mind seeing some tweaks made, as our attack just isn't clicking right now. Some days better than others.Last edited by Krebstar; 11-25-2012, 01:50 AM.Comment
