Let's hope we sign Benzema before Cesc, we need a striker or a defender not another midfielder.INACTIVEComment

Well, let the drama commence....
I honestly feel awful for how Barca, their fans and the media there have treated Cesc in the past two years. They constantly tapped him up, tried to force a Barca shirt over his head at the 2010 World Cup and totally unsettled him. Now they are just dumping on him because he isn't, can't, and will never Xavi. Cesc has totally different game from Xavi and isn't in his class when it comes to defensive qualities.
It's like, did Barca even scout this guy before they resigned him in 2011 and do Barca fans actually know football?
As their fans, I think it was some weird sense of them wanting him back. Even though at that point, Arsenal was more his home than Barcelona was.Comment

Now it looks neither like City, United or us are in for Cesc. Damn it just feels like Barca are the only one driving this story and trying to dump him so they can chase Koke."If you have a linebacker on him, you might as well start singing their fight song." -- WSU coach Bill Doba on Reggie Bush

I felt like this signing should have already been finished before the World Cup.

Arsenal have informed Barcelona they will not be exercising a buy-back option on former captain Cesc Fabregas.
I'm fine with this, with the caveat that we buy an actual defensive mid and center back.
Arsene is gonna have to splash the cash on Martinez or Bender or Khidera otherwise, prepare for hell.
I hope this situation is a lesson for those who leave Arsenal to join Real Madrid or Barca. But I'm sure more will try to make the move. Add Cesc to Alex Song, Jose Antonio Reyes, Alexander Hleb, and Nicholas Anelka."If you have a linebacker on him, you might as well start singing their fight song." -- WSU coach Bill Doba on Reggie Bush

He's one of the best center mids on the planet, why would you be fine with not re-signing him?
Especially if the alternative is strengthening ChelseaComment

Passing on a good player because it isn't a highly needed position is one thing, passing on a world class talent is not the same. Combine that with with Arsenals injury history and any key players suffering a dip in form.
He's better than anybody on the team save Ozil, going for a steal of a price in today's market for a player of that quality, and Arsenal should have more than enough funds to fill the other positions of need and still buy Cesc.
I just can't see a good reason for not wanting Cesc.Comment
