Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
Give it five-ten games of playing together and you'll be fine. In the future if you can sort out a left back and groom Holding/Chambers to take over from Koscielny and having Bellerín has your defence sorted.Comment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
Why are so many people absolutely positive Bellerin is going to be a world class RB? He's no different from Yedlin right now, and nobody is saying Yedlin is going to be world class.
Positionally they are the same player. Gets even worse when I see people trying to compare Bellerin to Alaba.Comment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
Should have said sorted for the future, don't get me wrong, Monreal is a good player just he's starting to hit the wrong side of thirty. Brah, Bellerín is a good bit younger and training with Arsenal will only make him better, he already has pace on his side and he can only improve from a technical point of view.Comment

"He's got crazy pace and athleticism, his positioning etc. will come along eventually"
Don't get me wrong, both players could and probably will go on to become perfectly good defenders. What gets me is the assumption that Bellerin is going to be the best in the world, with seemingly the logic of "omg he's so fast, imagine how good of a defender he'd be if he actually knew how to defend!"
People compare him pretty regularly to Alaba, who was already one of the best in the WORLD at Bellerin's age, not just good for his age group.Comment

Yes but people were saying literally the same thing about Yedlin.

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
Bellerin still has a lot left to learn, but he's by far the best right back option we've had since Sagna left. His pace allows him to make defensive mistakes which he makes due to his inexperience, and he greatly aids in attack when it comes to counters.
To me he's far more than just pace, but it's clearly his greatest strength as of now. He shows great potential, and he has a great chance to fulfill due to being the first choice in his position.Comment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
Nacho breaks the mold for defenders in your team imo, he's incredibly solid.
Really, the more I think about it the more I'm not surprised Bellerin is so highly rated by Arsenal fans. He's very fast, fluid in the attack, not really that good at defending and is prone to inexplicable mental lapses. He's Arsenal in a nutshell.
Anyway, I'm sure he will become a good defender, but I'd be shocked if he became one of the best in the world.Comment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
So today in the Presser Arsene had the bright idea to say he'd rather have Coquelin-Santi together deep over Xhaka-Santi because it's "better" and Coquelin does more defensively.
First of all, you dropped £35 million on Xhaka to be your anchor in midfield for the next 7 years or so and you have him sitting on the bench. In the PSG game, Xhaka had more tackles in 15 minutes on the pitch than Coquelin had 75 minutes, not to mention all the fouls Coquelin kept committing.
Then, you know you want to play possession football above all else and need to get balls the outside which Xhaka is great at. He Can pass, retain possession and has better timing on his tackles and positional discipline. The only thing I can think of that Coquelin has over Xhaka is speed, which does get him trouble at times. But yeah, I swear Arsene gives me a headache and doesn't realize his arguments make zero sense at times."If you have a linebacker on him, you might as well start singing their fight song." -- WSU coach Bill Doba on Reggie Bush

And no, Bellerin on current ability isn't multiple levels above Yedlin. Watch them both play, they are very similar. Bellerin is better, but currently not by much.Comment

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
Give me ten RBs that are better than Bellerin right now. If Yedlin was as good he wouldn't be at Newcastle right now, whereas Bellerin plays for a consistent top four club. I'm not saying Yedlin is trash but Bellerin's obviously better right now.Comment
