Obviously Bayern is not ideal, but with Olympiacos and Zagreb we should at least finish second.

So yeah about Ozil needing to be dropped..... Did you see the lack of chances created in the first half even after being a man up for 30 minutes...

Anyway, uh can we attack the flanks please. Everybody in the forward 4 think they are number 10s and want to play centrally. The international break can't come fast enough.

And Hell, where is the damn tempo??? So slow and no damn urgency.

Exactly. The game today also completely proved my last post.

                69% possession

                22 shots, 9 on target

Should have been 3-0 against a side that was pretty much on FIFA "park the bus"

Wasnt like you guys lacked chances, just poor finishing

Against a side that was a man down. But ok, Walcott has totally shown us why he should be our main striker and Ramsey is the best CAM we've had in a long time. Have you even seen the game or are you just quoting stats?

It wasn't a pleasant watch, really.

The only time we attacked with speed and urgency was on the counter, Alexis still seems like he should be coming off the bench and not thrust into the side so quickly, we were being hacked at all game and Newcastle deserved every single one of their bookings, and we really need a striker who can finish an easy chance.

Walcott and Giroud both missed very easy opportunities, and it's not like we know Welbeck will finish them if he's in that spot once he's back. But hell, at this point, give him a run when he's healthy.

We certainly were robbed of a clear penalty, but man, I really like Bellerin. Went down due to his ankle being stepped on, and didn't make a meal of it. When there was no call he was back on his feet playing.

Also, Gabriel looked pretty good again. Can't wait to see him start to get more time in the side.

Yes, hence the "park the bus" since they were a man down.

Re-read my post, never said anything about Walcott being a main striker. I only said that if Arsene does this, clubs will respect his pace and play a littlr deeper. He proved yesterday that he shouldn't be. Ramsey created several quality chances, one each for Santi, Alexis, and Giroud if I recall.

I might be a Chelsea fan but I do like to watch all of the big clubs play, especially if theyre not in the same time slot.

Exactly. We've created a ton of chances this season, but our finishing has let us down. That's why I'm really hoping a striker comes in before the transfer window ends. If Walcott and Giroud don't miss their sitters, it's a blowout win.

I just don't feel like anything is going to happen today, but I hope I'm wrong. However, it feels like Arsene will either think what he has is good enough, or the club will decide they don't want to spend the money.

So, I'm disappointed we didn't add to the squad, but this post from Reddit on r/gunners, made by a Man United supporter, really resonates with me.

Honestly, I'd rather have what we have now than overspending and throwing cash around like other clubs do.

I'm a United fan and I hate to see how the club is losing its identity post-Ferguson. We are going for the biggest names in football like we're ****ing Real Madrid. We overpay for mediocrity, and even pay 60-80 mill euro for unproven teenagers. We're turning into a ****ty Real Madrid on crack.

This has made me respect Wenger so much. He seems like one of the very few managers of a top club who has stuck to his guns and not caved in to these ridiculous prices.

Sure he should have bought Schneiderlin, and you probably need a striker. But the market for top strikers is dead. For some reason the past few years very few top class strikers have been produced. And they all are overpriced. ****ing Benteke isn't worth £32.5 million, but that's the world we live in now.

That said I'd much rather have a manager like Arsene who may appear cheap now and then, than an idiot like van Gaal who throws money at everything he fancies one summer, before selling the player for a loss the next summer.
Am I happy with 3-4 place? Heck no. But I also don't want to see us spend now and pay for it in a few years. I'd rather have Arsene than van Gaal, whose purpose is to win now at all costs and then leave the club in not the best state of affairs.

While we likely won't add to the squad, the deadline ends today, so there is still time. I'm not holding out hope, though.
